Hope you’re all enjoying your summer break so far! Officers, I hope you learned an abundance of information from Officer Training Conference and are ready to serve your club, division, and your district, reach their goals! Don't forget to submit your OTC experiences and pictures for the August issue! I'm excited to see what 6 South has in store for the future! Let’s make the most of this new term and serve with our biggest roar yet! I’d like to thank the Circle K members from UCR and UNLV for reading last month's Key to College issue. It was such a joy to see that many people from beyond D6S read the June issue!

LETTER FROM THE LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR Greeting Polar Bears! Wow, it is beyond crazy knowing that we have about one more month left of summer to soak up all the sun we can get and have all the time that we have to serve our communities to the fullest! As summer is starting to wrap up, please keep in mind to keep planning for the school year ahead of you and to always looking back on your game plan for the term! If you are a club board officer, it is the perfect time to round up all the other board members you serve in setting up an officer meeting and create an annual plan for your Key Club to create an easy transition into club rush and the Fall season! In addition to that, I would like for every member to go above and beyond and reach for the stars by completing the challenge of this month, to attend this month's Division Council Meeting! If you do not know what a Division Council Meeting is, a DCM is a meeting led by the respective Lieutenant Governor where she discusses past events/news and upcoming division information and is usually associated with a fundraising, service, or social event! This month, we will be hosting our DCM at Oceanside Beach featuring a beach clean-up and a social afterwards with Division 37 East (San Marcos/Escondido area). Also, please remember that Key Club supports inclusiveness, meaning no one is excluded no matter who you are! Feel free to invite your friends whether they are not a Key Club member or not! As an incentive for everyone traveling all the way to Oceanside, I am willing to dye my hair navy blue if we have 40 members in attendance. The July DCM will be on Saturday, July 18th from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM and the rest of the details will be on an advertisement later on in the newsletter so keep reading! Keep on serving, Polar Bears! I hope to see you at the July DCM!

STUDIO POLAR BEARS by: Gabriel Victor Fabian, Paloma Valley Since this term is coming to a close, Paloma Valley hosted a Studio Ghibli themed banquet. This was our final event for the year and for some the very last event ever to participate in for our lovely seniors. The banquet was decorated from head to toe with polar bears and anime characters. Our members got their membership ID cards and service certificates for the 2014-2015 term at the beginning of the event. There was pizza and a variety of chips provided. There was also a wii and video games that were brought to play once everyone got situated with their food. The majority of the time, Just Dance was the game of choice where everyone got out of their seat and danced even of they weren't holding a controller. The main reason we did all of this is the same as any other club, to say we had an amazing you and hope for an even better one next year. Overall this last get together was a full on success and was a great way to end the a full year with our dedicated polar bears. "The Key Club Banquet was amazing! I was able to interact with new people. I got a chance to bond with my Key Club family. And I laughed so much. I can't wait for what is in store for Key Club next year. FINAL FAM PARTY

Heritage Key Club had their final general meeting on June 9th. It was also a potluck, and took place right after-school, which was at 12:30 because of finals week schedule. Many people showed up and, of course, non-Key Club members were invited! There was way too much food, like every potluck, and everyone was happy in anticipation for the last bell on Thursday and to relax from studying and taking finals. Some highlights were two guests: LTG Sally Tsai and Ms. Clough (with her baby!). Even though our club has not been too active recently, members were still excited to be in that Key Club spirit. Everyone is ready for summer (although not as ready to watch our seniors leave). Our club is currently focused on planning for next year, specifically upkeeping the interest of old and new members. We believe member input and participation is the basis of a successful club.

ELIMINATE DRIVE by: Chholyda Seang, Chaparral From May 22nd -23rd Division 6 South Key Clubbers from both Chaparral and Temecula Valley High School joined in a collaboration to help the Eliminate Project in which money is raised through awareness and donations in which therefore funds medical care for families suffering through maternal/ neonatal tetanus in 3rd world countries. The Eliminate Project’s Eliminate Week spans over 7 special days where the Kiwanis Family are encouraged to help raise awareness and collect loose change. Like the phrase, “every little bit counts,” even a few coins were accepted. At the end of the week a door to door drive was held, handfuls of Key Clubbers per day, went from house to house asking for donations. With the help of everyone’s corporations and generous donations, that weekend a total of about $340.45 was raised, as well as a side portion of $40 dedicated to helping a Temecula Valley student, who is in a serious condition due to a tragic accident that occurred at school, students pray for his wellbeing and began a foundation in his behalf. The money raised will go to UNICEF and hopefully positively impact struggling families.

ELIMINATE DRIVE by: Theresa Escolano, Temecula Valley
On May 22nd and 23rd, Key Clubbers gathered at President Tayler Smith’s home to participate in the Eliminate Drive. Members from Chaparral helped gather money for the Eliminate Drive. At the end of the event, a grand total of $340.45. Also during this event, $40 was collected to help a fellow Golden Bear who was injured in an accident at school.

ONE LAST GOODBYE. SEALING IT OFF WITH A (HERSHEY’S) KISS by: Namphuong Nguyen, Chaparral
As we all know, seniors have sent us their last regards as they leave to wherever life takes them. Chaparral Key Club decided to send those seniors our last regards with some kisses. With a sentimental message and nine lovable kisses for $1.50, these seniors enjoyed their last memories at Chaparral High School. It was a wonderful experience to see a joyful glow on each seniors' face as they received a kissable treat. Gladly, I am proud to say that Chaparral High School fulfilled the challenge of the month of June by having this fundraiser. This fundraiser gave Key Club the opportunity to seal a senior’s year off with a kiss.

CROSSING THE FINISH LINE by: Nohley Hernandez, Rancho Verde The ending of this scholastic year has brought many emotions to come through from our Key Clubbers as we celebrated the club’s final meeting, service events, and end of the year gathering. On Tuesday May 12th we hosted our last official general meeting for our members, where we discussed the time slots for members who had signed up to participate for Relay for Life that following Saturday. In the previous weeks we had contacted a representative for Relay for Life to come in to one of our meetings and hold a presentation about the good that the event causes not only for the participants but for its volunteers. However, through a lack of communication and plain bad timing we were not able to have them attend one of our meetings. Yet we did not despair, a spanish teacher at our high school was also in a team for Relay for Life with her Cross Fit gym and she was more than happy to present for us. Mrs. Vargas’s mother had passed due to cancer and she was ecstatic to talk about the wonderful resources they offer to families dealing with loved ones who are suffering with cancer. The very next day, we hosted our potluck after school in one of our advisor’s classrooms. The theme for the banquet was culture and we asked our members to bring in food items that were common in their culture or greatly enjoyed by them. We wanted our members to take pride in themselves and at the unique qualities that come from individuals with such different backgrounds. As we ate together our wonderful resigning president, Angela Lagrada, awarded students with certificates that highlighted some of the hard work our students have done in the past year. It was was an emotional day as we said goodbye to our Key Club seniors and celebrated our accomplishments. We were extremely pleased to hear about the seniors who were eager to join their future college’s Circle K and the genuine excitement from our members for what awaits our club in the future.

PREPARATION IS KEY
 by: Valerie Haines, Murrieta Mesa Our officers have mainly discussed our plans on what to do for next year’s club. We have discussed how we can get more people to join our club and how to interest them so they will stay in Key Club. We have thought of doing some fun games, ice breakers, and raffles every once in a while to make our meetings fun and enjoyable for all! We will also be hosting a fundraiser in the beginning of next school year so we can make money for our club! Officer Training Conference was held at Mesa, which hopefully helped all of the officers in our division to know all of their tasks and duties!

Member of the Month: TYTIANNA PARGO, Tvhs Not only is she a good friend to me but she also is so helpful and nice. She is responsible and I can count of her for anything. Furthermore, from my stand point as president, she supports the club by attending events and meetings regularly. I have even witnessed her informing people outside of Key Club about the beneficial aspects of the club. Officer of the Month: ROBIN HITCHIN, gohs Served as a Club Secretary last year, Robin Hitchin reached 
 out as a leader and took the initiative in serving as a Club President this year at Great Oak Key Club. Beginning this term, she has truly reached out to her officers by encouraging them to attend division events and motivating them to strive for the bigger picture as a club and at the division level. As a Club President, she has been very proactive in her planning, always searching for new project ideas for her club as well as communicating to Chaparral and Temecula Valley Key Club for possible joint activities. Robin is truly a great leader to work with and I am very excited to see what the future of the term has for her club!
CLUB of the Month: Chaparral As the home club of the Lieutenant Governor, they are usually one of the most active clubs in the division that we serve. Despite that assumption, during the month of June, they have truly stood out With multiple successful fundraisers, Chaparral has proven to master the art of raising funds and being creative with it. With "Kiss a Senior Goodbye" and many restaurant fundraisers, they have raised numerous funds to assist for future service projects and club activities. On top of that, they have truly defined the term of inter-club bonding. Recently, Chap and TV has grown into a sister and brother like relationship by joining together for several events such as an Eliminate Drive service project raising more than $300 for MNT. Keep up the great work, Chaparral!
