Message from Cindy Tsai Hi spirits, we’re reaching the halfway point of our term, and we will be reaching dues season. Make sure you turn in those dues, so you are eligible to include Key Club on your college applications and to be eligible for scholarships. In addition, SHIRTS ARE COMING! They are now on sale! Speak to your respective club presidents for more information. I highly encourage you to advertise one another to buy a shirt and a shirt for yourself so that you can match with the rest of our division and be a proud Key Clubber as a ghost! I also encourage you to be leaders and role models to one another as individuals providing service to the community! And always, don’t forget to do service for your community proudly!!! Region 2 Picnic/August DCM Recap Thank you to all who attended our Region 2 Picnic/ August DCM at Kit Carson Park! It was very fun being able to sell food in order to fundraise money for PTP. We also made a bunch of dog toys for our local dog shelter and I am so proud of everyone! It’s great seeing how much dog toys were made and it is all because of your hard work.

Paloma Valley News This month Paloma Valley Key Club participated in the annual Club Rush. The event was held for three days from August 29-31 in which multiple clubs on the Paloma Valley High campus gathered together and spread the word about the multiple amazing clubs offered at the school. The purpose of the event was to introduce any interested students to join some of the clubs that are open to them. Key Club was able to get over 100 sign ups on the first day the event was held, and continued its growth on the next two days. Many students were interested in the community service sector and were excited to make a difference on campus and in the community. The vast amount of service event opportunities offered attracted many members. The flexible schedule and pristine reputation were an added bonus and this club was eagerly sought out. The most appealing aspect to students was that the variety of service activities they could participate in and how close this club was to its school roots! On August 7, 2017, we had a meeting about starting off the school year with a positive attitude! We discussed DCM, Proving Grounds, and most importantly Club Rush! In the picture above, we have Kathleen, the president, and Caroline, the secretary, filling out paperwork for the new school year. Two days before school started, we were already on track with all of our creative ideas on how we would want Key Club to represent our school. -Marizel Carin
There were three days of club rush and this was taken on the second day, August 30, 2017. We have a total of over two-hundred new key club members and our goal is to encourage them to actively participate in Key Club. Our president, Kathleen, and our secretary, Sari, are at the Key Club table for Club Rush during first lunch to reach out to students. -Marizel Carin

Temecula Valley News On August 19th, Key Club Divisions 21, 37 North, 37 West, 37 East, and 37 South hosted a regional picnic at Kit Carson Park in Escondido. During the event, the Key Clubbers made dog toys out of t-shirts. They plan to donate these toys to animal shelters. Also, each division set up their own table and sold food such as fried rice, noodles, and donut ice cream sandwiches! All proceeds from the sales will be donated to the Pediatric Trauma Program. Lastly, to close out this fun event, Key Clubbers participated in Olympic Games. One event included throwing the discus, but instead of throwing heavy metal discs, they threw tortillas! Key Club is not just about giving back to the community, it is also about bonding with fellow members. Region 2 is successful in both giving back and having fun! Submitted by Maddy Houser

Perris News For the month of August, Perris Key Club had two official meetings to start off the year and get to know the new members. Our first meeting was a total success. We began by introducing each officer then explained what Key Club was all about. After the pledges, we got into groups and did a few icebreakers so everyone had the chance to get to know each other. Afterwards, we winded down and gave out donated shirts to create cute dog toys. Our first meeting was very successful. We weren’t expecting that many people to come but we’re very glad that we will be able to help spark the love of giving into those that join Key Club. Submitted by Jessica Huerta This was our first official meeting for this school year. Our president, Ariana, introduced what key club is about. Then the officers introduced themselves and what their duties are.
We wanted our first meeting to be memorable so we choose to do dog toys to donate to our local animal hospital.

Heritage News In the month of August, events such as the football snack bar and the beginning of the year Club Rush took place. These events have helped us gain many more members in our club. Most importantly, this year is starting off in a good place. Although it is the beginning of the year, Heritage has done their best this month to advertise, connect with members, and better our communication throughout the club. Club Rush helped gain many members because we had a spinning wheel giving off free Key Club items or candy to whoever signed up to receive emails from our Key Club about our weekly after school and lunch meetings. This helped gain many members, lately our rooms have been filled with new key clubbers. Also, our football snack bar has helped the administration run the snack bar thoroughly, and has given our members many hours and work experience. Submitted by Jessica Huerta

Chaparral News On September 7th, the Chaparral High School Key Club kicked off the school year by introducing the club to hundreds of students during the annual Club Rush event. Giving out candies and flyers, the officers worked hard to share the passionate energy that the club has to offer. Photo opportunities were plentiful thanks to one of the props that was shaped like a picture frame, and many freshmen showed interest in the club. A new official CHS website was also launched, displaying many important details, such as meeting times, forms, and contact information. Remind 101 was also a large tool that was utilized in keeping interested students up to date on the first meeting on September 8th. Opening doors on September 8th, the first meeting was filled with many students, and the officers worked diligently to hand out snacks and tickets for an upcoming raffle. Information such as social media accounts, the website, class representative applications, and upcoming events were announced to a full room of students. Our current plans are to play more icebreakers to ease the new members into the SPIRIT of the club, and to offer many different service and social opportunities. We were delighted by the enthusiastic turnout, and we have high hopes for the upcoming Key Club year! Submitted by Sunny Lim

Fall Rally South: Where: Six Flags!! When: Saturday, November 11 More information will be coming out soon. This is one of the biggest events in CNH District where Key Clubbers get to spend time together with other divisions and regions. We are also fundraising for PTP.
