Food Drive for the Holidays! - Allison Acuna, Paloma Valley On November 20th, 2014, Paloma Valley Key Club collected the last of our cans/boxed foods for our Food Drive. The Food Drive helps the families in need during the holidays, making sure people have plenty of food to eat. Not just key club members, but all of our school is able to help out and donate as much as he or she can for community service hour. “The food drive was a success, and there were many donations of chicken top ramen!” - Shanie Kim, Treasurer “We had a good turn out! I heard we brought over a thousand pounds of food.” - Crystal Chhan, Treasurer

Vintage Hills Christmas Party - Clarissa Requiestas, Temecula Valley This November was filled with merry, holiday filled events for Key Club. For several years, our club has volunteered at the Vintage Hills Clubhouse Christmas party. At the Christmas party, children in the neighborhood met with Santa Claus, taking pictures with him and telling him their Christmas wishes! Key clubbers magically morphed into elves, assisting Santa by handing out little goodies, as well as helping out with food and cookie decorating. In addition, other members helped the event run smoothly to help with clean up, decorating, and greeting families and children. It was a great, family fun event that embodied the Christmas spirit within the club and the Vintage Hills community.

Let’s Work. Dance to Eliminate! - Nampichu Nguyen, Chaparral Last month, Temecula Valley High School hosted the first Coalition workshop in Division 6 South. The dance room was filled with many eager Key Clubbers waiting to learn some awesome routines. Stretching was key to being in the zone. This allowed everyone to become comfortable with their selves and loosen up around many that they might have never met before. Three levels of classes of various difficulties were offered for two sessions each. Each session lasted about an hour and a half each with each dancer being very intrigued into the beauty of music and expression. Finally, the workshop ended with an overall performance with each dancer having an opportunity to perform and see what every individual leaned. Special thanks to our wonderful choreographers from Articulate, Unofficial, an Alliance Alumni and New Era that volunteered to help towards eliminate! Division 6 South ended up rising over $385! With the help of awesome volunteers and motivated adolescents, we, the people, can gradually ELIMINATE neonatal tetanus.

Buddy Walk - Cindy Gallegos, Heritage The Buddy Walk was on November 8th spreads awareness about Down syndrome. It helps families nationwide by funding for costly treatments. It was a day of remembrance and a lot of our old key club members came to this event. During the event there was this little girl walking with her aunt who had Down syndrome. She was with her the whole day and they kept playing in the booths. This was a heartwarming moment because no matter what, the little girl stayed with her aunt. Looking at those two, you can see how innocent the little girl is. This made me want to cry, but then again, I was happy the lady who had a friend. Last year, Heritage Key Club hosted the same event. Both were fun and amazing in their own ways, but they also have their upside downs. Yet this doesn’t compare to how much people came to support. It was definitely amazing how much people came, and how successful the Buddy Walk event was. Even though there were some improvements to be made, the participants didn’t because they got to help anyone with Down syndrome. The people that came were very respectful, which made cleaning up a little bit easier. Coming back to this event gave me unforgettable memories and made my day by seeing all these happy people smile.
