Social Enterprise CyberKid Vietnam

president’s foreword

“Children are wandering alone on the Internet. They are free to cross borders and territories without any guidance or protection. Thus, they can be hurt at any moment, while adults would hardly notice since it is not a physical wound.”

While laying the first stone of CyberKid Vietnam with the founding members in September 2020, I could not have imagined that after only a year, we would be able to say "Gosh, we really achieved a lot!".

More than 16,000 Children in 20 provinces and cities across Vietnam have benefited from CyberKid's community solutions thanks to the tireless efforts and admirable collaboration of 102 official members, over 200 volunteers, 15 partners, and 12 members of the Board of Advisors.

On behalf of the 102 CyberKid Vietnam members and over 24 million Vietnamese Children, I am eternally grateful to the Board of Advisors, schools, enterprises and young volunteers for trusting and accompanying CyberKid in 2021. I also would like to express my sincere thanks to the press for spreading the word about CyberKid’s positive impact to the general public. Every piece of TV news, every article in the newspaper coverage about CyberKid has aided us in approaching one more school, one more enterprise, and one more expert to join us on this meaningful journey.

The year 2021 has ended with many valuable lessons learned and exciting plans devised for the future. In the context of economic and social instability caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are proud that we never gave up, continued working hard, and contributed our youth to a stable and prosperous Vietnam in the digital transformation era.

I hope that in the 2022 Impact Report that will be sent at the beginning of 2023, I can reiterate my feelings of surprise at the start of the foreword, saying "Gosh, we really accomplished a lot yet another year!"

With my heartfelt gratitude./.

CYBERSCHOOL

Our solution for Schools. CyberSchool provides free 45 to 90-minute “Internet Safety” classes for primary schools, middle schools, and high schools to enhance children's knowledge and ability to utilize the Internet effectively.

In the past year, with the desire to spread CyberSchool classes to more than 24 million Vietnamese Children, we launched the "Nationwide Internet safety classes” project, one of the most important CyberKid’s strategies for the term 2021-2022. CyberSchool team has expanded its influence to schools in the suburbs of Hanoi and 5 provinces including Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Quang Ninh, Lang Son, and Thai Nguyen.

Especially, this is the first time CyberKid encourages high school students to participate in the program as project coordinators. Through this national project, we hope to provide more opportunities for high school students to develop soft skills, similar to their peers in big cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, where there are numerous projects that facilitate early personal development for high school students.

What makes CyberSchool different?

(1) There is a high level of volunteerstudent interaction since lessons are organized in small-sized classrooms, with interesting curricula content, thereby increasing students’ knowledge acquisition;

(2) Not only children, who are the beneficiaries of the solution, but also other social sectors involved in the organizing process, such as schools, teachers, project coordinators, and project volunteers, are impacted by the solution.

Due to the interruption of conventional learning caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, CyberSchool has developed an online class model since May 2021 in order to swiftly adapt and continue to achieve our goals. Throughout the threemonth summer break, a series of online "Internet Safety" classes for primary and middle school children were held across the country.

In this new year, we will keep bringing CyberSchool's classes to more cities and provinces throughout Vietnam. We wil also strengthen cooperation with universities to actively encourage young people nationwide to join hands in protecting and supporting children in the digital transformation era.

Vaccines for Children in cyberspace

“Our students are instructed by numerous enthusiastic volunteers and are provided with a wealth of information about the Internet, including the threats they may encounter in cyberspace and solutions to deal with them. In addition to theoretical knowledge, the lessons are integrated with real-life stories and situations, as well as interactive activities, making them more relevant and accessible to students."

Mr. Ha Dang-Viet, The Principle of Chu Van An Secondary School

“Today's class taught me about a variety of cyber-hidden risks as well as how to protect myself when dealing with these concerns online. After today, I will be extra cautious with any material I find on the Internet. I really enjoyed the class. Thank you so much, CyberKid Vietnam.”

Hieu Pham-Trung , CyberSchool Summer Class’ student

"I would like to express my sincere appreciation to CyberKid for giving me the opportunity to be a "postman", bringing useful knowledge that CyberSchool has prepared with great passion and effort to children. I hope CyberKid will gain great success in the future and will deliver more and more useful "letters" to children across the country. I wish to have more opportunities to accompany CyberKid in the future."

Ms. Tram Nguyen-Phuong , Student at National Economics University - CyberSchool volunteer

In 2021, the "Internet Safety" classes expanded beyond Hanoi to reach students across the country, ensuring that no single child is left behind.

What makes CyberClass different?

(1) Students’ competencies will be assessed throughout the learning process by the CyberClass team and lecturers who are cybersecurity experts;

(2) Students who show promising potential will have their information sent to schools and related educational centers, institutions for further talent nurturing in the field of Cybersecurity from an early age.

In 2021, CyberClass successfully created a community of brilliant students with a strong interest in cybersecurity, providing them with opportunities to learn and connect with top experts.

CyberClass has long believed that the Cybersecurity industry in Vietnam is a key to the success and sustainability of the national digital transformation agenda. We see our mission as finding, nurturing and developing a workforce of cybersecurity professionals capable of sustaining the country's future growth. Last year, we established many partnerships with leading organizations specializing in technology education and cybersecurity in Vietnam, mentioning CyberJutsu Joint-stock Company, Viettel Cyber Security, and MindX Technology School. Together, we have constantly improved the quality of our products to create a better curriculum for young talents in cybersecurity.

In 2022, we will continue to implement three major strategies: (1) Improving the quality and expertise of the curriculums; (2) Connecting students to experts through Cybersecurity career fairs; and (3) Seeking early talents in secondary school and high school in our country. CyberClass commits to accompanying and fostering their passion to develop and incubate early Cybersecurity talents for Vietnam.

CONTEST Capture The Flag

The first CTF contest for Vietnamese children

CTF (Capture The Flag) is a cybersecurity contest which challenges contestants to find "flags" that are secretly hidden in different applications, programs or websites. As this is a practical playground for anyone who wants to improve their skills and practice teamwork in cybersecurity, CTF competitions are gaining popularity among Vietnamese youth these days. According to CTFTIME's data, Vietnam is one of the top ten countries in the world with the most teams participating in CTF.

In August 2021, CyberClass partnered with CyberJutsu to host a Capture The Flag competition named "Junior Hacking Talent" for adolescents aged 12-17 who are enthusiastic about cybersecurity. The event, themed "Practical PlaygroundDiscover Talents," represented a watershed moment for CyberClass in 2021, giving our students with a plethora of exciting experiences.

W HAT OUR COMMUNITY SAY ABOUT US

"During the time I was taking the CyberClass course and participating in CTF, what I enjoyed the most was the golden chance to learn new knowledge and skills while interacting and making friends with many incredible people."

Nam Pham-Binh,

at Junior Hacking Talents

"CyberClass is a practical solution that brings the field of cybersecurity closer to the community, especially students. Early and methodical approaches to information security allow students to have the correct understanding and practice for their cybersecurity knowledge, thereby nurturing their passion for learning and researching in this field. CyberClass has found and trained young people with high potential in information security, contributing to the development of Vietnam's information security human resources."

Hence, it was a bit unexpected for me in a good way, as I was granted an opportunity to accompany CyberClass team from the lesson planning stage until the teaching stage. I consider this the most memorable journey of my previous year, I am so grateful to CyberClass team for creating such a meaningful learning space for the youth. I wish all the best to the team and I hope the project continues to flourish in the future."

“Listening with all our hearts”

Our service does not end with a brief phone contact. CyberHotline serves as a consultant and a friend to Vietnamese children who become unintentional victims of assaults on the Internet.

The year 2021 witnessed CyberHotline’s new progress in bringing our solution's brand closer to the community. Since September 2021, CyberHotline has been organizing many marketing campaigns to encourage cyberattack victims and witnesses to share their stories. In addition, we have been concentrating on establishing relationships with leading experts and organizations in various fields, especially psychology, legality, and cybersecurity, to apply appropriate solutions to each reported case.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, millions of children face greater risks in cyberspace. As a consequence, there is a surge in the number of cases reported to CyberHotline with higher complexity levels. This situation leaves us with the challenge of developing our crisis response team with specialized skills and knowledge to better support victims and witnesses.

In 2022, CyberHotline will focus on implementing two main strategies: (1) Improving the quality of crisis response services through enhancing the agents’ expertise, and (2) Building a network with authorities to specialize in handling solutions for attacked children in cyberspace. Along with promotion activities, we will continue to empower victims to speak up, and seek help from CyberHotline when confronting maltreatment in cyberspace.

Our solution for Cyber victims.

Cyberhotline

CyberHotline provides counseling and assistance services for children attacked in cyberspace based on 4 elements: psychology, legality, technology, and practicality.

What makes CyberHotline different?

(1) Providing measures that are adaptable to the unique circumstances of each victims.

(2) Highly effective assisting techniques for victims and witnesses, including one to three months of post-counseling assistance to ensure victims are not alone in their journey toward self-protection.

#SpeakToStop is a campaign launched by CyberHotline after we continuously received reports about a group of children under 16 being threatened and bullied online by Facebook group traders. Following the issue’s verification, CyberHotline and the victims decided to share this story publicly to raise community awareness about child cyberbullying. After 14 days, the #SpeakToStop campaign has garnered widespread attention and community support.

Our solution for Parents and Families

CYBERhome

With the brand positioning of an educational platform providing online courses taking just 5 minutes a day, CyberHome is the leading pioneer in providing basic digital knowledge and skills to help millions of Vietnamese families adapt to the changes of the digital transformation era as well as utilize technology to connect families in a modern and civilized way.

CyberHome was officially launched in 2021, laying the groundwork for brand positioning and reaching closer to the concerns of parents and families in the digital transformation era, which is to protect, connect, and provide comprehensive support for their families.

An educational platform to enhance digital capabilities and strengthen Vietnamese families’ connections

CyberHome, having been nurtured since 2020, is the last solution for the community to be launched in CyberKid's ecosystem. It is the only for-profit solution for CyberKid to achieve financial autonomy and develop sustainably without relying on third parties. CyberHome's revenue is also the cash flow reinvested in CyberKid's non-profit solutions for Children, including CyberSchool, CyberClass, and CyberHotline. On this basis, the product for Parents and Families CyberHome was officially launched in April 2021, with the first course named "Accessing the digital era safely with children" successfully held offline for more than 50 families in Hanoi.

In June 2021, we continued digitizing our courses along with upgrading content quality and using modern educational technologies. This was the first transformation that marked CyberHome's brand positioning as a digital-skill educational platform dedicated to Vietnamese families in the current digital age. However, due to the complicated situation of COVID-19, we encountered difficulties and interruptions in producing online video courses. This necessitated CyberHome to proactively and flexibly adapt by organizing alternative online classes “Take control over cyberspace - Be friends with your kids” on every third Saturday and Sunday of each month from September 2021.

Despite initial difficulties in obtaining customers for each class due to our fledgling brand, we will continue to pursue two key goals: (1) Improving course teaching quality, and (2) Enhancing and developing CyberHome's brand. In this new year, we are determined to meet the product's revenue target, ensuring CyberKid Vietnam's strategic goal of financial autonomy.

What makes CyberHome different?

(1) Creative and proactive in building content and providing knowledge for Parents to protect and connect with their children, as well as adapt to the current digital trend in Vietnam and worldwide.

(2) Focusing on providing parents with effective tips, technological tools, and detailed instructions that can be applied practically, instead of mentioning theories only.

(3) Product models are constantly updated to fit customers’ demand: With online courses and webinars, CyberHome makes every effort to renew, rebuild, and individualize the content of each module based on the demand and concerns of each parental group. Regarding video-format courses, parents only need to spend 5 minutes a day to complete one module.

"Honestly, when my daughter Daisy learns online, I am very concerned as she will enter a wide-open world with a variety of interesting knowledge, new friends, and, of course, great risks. Fortunately, there is this course that can address those problems. It is true that travel broadens the mind. The knowledge the course delivers is fresh, informative, precise, and practical but still very easy to understand and apply."

I became more confident navigating online networks with my children thanks to the useful and well-designed knowledge about how to prevent fraud and provide the highest amount of support to my children on the Internet. I was able to interact with the instructor as well as discuss with other parents who were open-minded and studious during both lessons, hence, I found it easy to understand and tempathise with the lesson."

DESIGNING DATA-DRIVEN CULTURE

ata is the driving force for our sustainable development

In early 2021, CyberKid Vietnam’s Board of Executives identified the term “Data-driven culture" as the driving force for the organization’s sustainable development. Prior to this orientation, CyberKid had significantly implemented a series of internal projects to pave the way for the datadriven cultural transformation in 2022.

The establishment of Research and Development Department

CyberKid Vietnam’s Research and Development department officially began operations in September 2021. After 3 months, we had conducted research and innovated a series of processes, services, and CyberKid existing solutions, as well as taken the first step toward incorporating Business Intelligence into all decisionmaking activities. As a highly specialized functional department, its members were chosen after a sequence of assessments to

examine their abilities and expertise in data analysis, project management, and market research. Our workforce mainly comes from data analysis, design, computer science, etc. majors in domestic and foreign universities such as Portland State University (USA), National University of Singapore (Singapore), University of Tasmania (USA), Foreign Trade University, National Economics University, Vietnam National University, Hanoi Law University, and the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology.

Enhancing Data Capabilities for the organization

The process of the system and cultural transformation must proceed in parallel with the updating and development of human capital. CyberKid has invested in retraining and equipping a staff of more than 100 people with the capability to use data in all aspects of the solutions’ day-to-day operations. By the end of 2021, we held a total of 6 training sessions on topics such as finding information, collecting data, making data-driven decisions, and using Spreadsheet tools, etc. for the entire organization. Furthermore, we have continuously monitored and supported members in the process of applying knowledge through monthly surveys and personnel evaluations.

In addition to training activities, all CyberKid members are required to proactively observe and report on personal and team efficiency via a performance management tracking system to foster data-centric decision-making habits. This mindset transformation is crucial for CyberKid to progressively developing a data-driven culture in our organization.

high quality talent incubator

espite the fact that the majority of members operating social enterprises are young university students, CyberKid always strives to support members in advancing professional working skills, orienting their self-development paths, as well as providing them the best experience possible while studying and working at CyberKid. We identify that in the future, CyberKid will not only act as an organization providing practical solutions for the community to protect Children in cyberspace, but also a highquality human resource incubator for the Vietnamese government, enterprises, and respected non-governmental and non-profit organizations.

Every year, CyberKid holds two significant recruiting sessions in Hanoi, with an average of 320 applications received in each session, mainly from students of prestigious domestic universities, such as Hanoi Foreign Trade University, Hanoi National University, and the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam. With an average acceptance rate of 1:8, all candidates must go through four formal selection rounds, including the Application round, the Assessment Center round, the Functional interview, and the Personal interview. Candidates who pass the final interview will undergo a probationary month and will only be officially accepted as members of CyberKid Vietnam if they pass the probation with a 75% or above on all performance metrics (KPI).

After every 6 - 12 months of working at CyberKid, members are given the opportunity to apply for executive positions in different departments. These are all highly anticipated positions in each internal recruiting session thanks to the self-development opportunities they might receive, including in-depth training in specialized skills, leadership skills, strategic thinking, etc. These training workshops are often directly delivered by the Board of Directors, the Advisory Board and the network of CyberKid alumnus who are talented young individuals with outstanding achievements.

CyberKid members who represent the organization to participate in contests, or to coordinate with partners to organize large-scale events such as TECHFEST 2021, have continuously received positive feedback about their confidence, critical thinking ability, and flexible problemsolving skills. We take pride in the positive

“Being a part of CyberKid was the best experience of my 20s is the sharing of many CyberKid members. Carrying the burning youth, talents, and the spirit of social startups, students who graduated from universities and CyberKid have now become brilliant employees and interns working at large corporations, constantly spreading the image of CyberKiddos as honest, hard-working, enthusiastic, and highly skilled individuals.

“Working at CyberKid gave me the opportunity to develop and enhance my professional communication skills in both written and spoken languages. Even though I am one of E&Y's youngest auditors, the skills has helped me acquire confidence while working with partners. All of that confidence was formed and nurtured by CyberKid, which is why I'm always pleased to call myself a CyberKiddo.”

Anh Nguyen-Duc, Senior Cybersecurity Specialist, Techcombank Content Developer, CyberClass 20.21

“CyberKid is the inspiration for my startup initiatives. But I'm not disheartened; instead, I'm constantly on the lookout for my own business path. It is fortunate for me to have met CyberKid along the road, where all of my entrepreneurial thinking is sharpened and grown.
