We’ll help you at every step. Let’s get started.
Your learning journey at Curry isn’t about following a set path. It’s about forging a path that’s authentically yours. Whether you’re designing your own Individually Initiated Major, starting a club, or conducting research, academics at Curry are catered to what matters to you most.
Serenity Perkins ’24 found a career direction at Curry, where she teamed up with Dr. Sandra O’Neil, Professor of Sociology and Criminal Justice, to create a new route into social advocacy: the Transformative Justice major. This program, the first of its kind in our region, empowers students like Serenity to develop alternatives to traditional justice systems and
advocate for those in need from beyond the systems’ barriers. Now, the major is open to others who share her vision.
That’s just one example. The next one is yours to create.
Create your own unique major or minor by combining classes across disciplines.

For Yvonne Welsh ’24, seizing every opportunity meant pushing herself beyond her comfort zone. So she served as president of the student government. Volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. Tried out for the Dance Team. Launched social events for students of color. Organized campus leadership conferences, and more. Her advisor helped her design her class schedule around her extracurricular commitments, so she had the time to pursue everything she wanted to experience. And she learned that putting herself out there meant becoming the leader she was always ready to be.
“People here aren’t afraid to be themselves and express the mselves. Everyone’s invited in, and it’s great to see people coming out of their shells.”

At other institutions, undergraduate students rarely have the ability to publish their own research. At Curry, our students are listed as the first authors. In a competitive job market, that really stands out.”
Dr. Samantha Sawyer Assistant Professor Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics
Arielle Gilliam ’24, co-president of Curry’s Women in STEM club, collaborated with her professor to design a new research initiative seeking to improve sunscreen performance. In the Science and Research Center in the Learning Commons, she learned how to master sophisticated equipment that’s typically out of reach for undergraduates at other colleges. Inside the classroom, she led scientific conversations and found the space to explore new perspectives that influenced her research.
In Dr. Samantha Sawyer’s class, students take their coursework outdoors to our protected campus wetlands, where they identify local insect species and photograph wildlife. Dr. Sawyer, New England’s only board-certified forensic entomologist, believes active field research is critical. Working within the field empowers students like you to explore multiple areas of interest—sparking research projects, business ventures, and unexpected career paths.

“Curry is unique because the professors are active in their fields. They’re connected. And if you put in the work, they’ll help you out. They’re mentors I’ll talk to for the rest of my life.”
Michael Ouellette ’24 Communication
At Curry, you can forge relationships with industry leaders who connect you with jobs, internships, and future opportunities.
Michael Ouellette ’24 chose Curry because he wanted to build his career with help from professors who would know his name. Working one-on-one gave him unique access—like getting on air at WMLN-FM his first year—which led to a competitive internship at Boston’s 98.5 Sports Hub radio. The experience connected him with station managers and hosts, strengthened his work ethic, and advanced his goal of becoming a producer.
He credits WMLN-FM’s director with giving him the hands-on experience that prepared him, along with the best advice he’s ever received: If something breaks, there’s always a fix. And if you show up and put in the work, others will show up for you, too.
Our dedicated professors and proximity to Boston mean you can build your own professional network—in healthcare, media, research, or any other field—right from the start.

Curry is the first college in the nation to create a program specifically designed to support students with ADHD and other learning differences. Our nationally recognized Program for Advancement of Learning (PAL) offers tailored accommodations and tools for test taking, time management, self-advocacy, communication and social skills, and more. Work with your PAL advisor to choose the accommodations that work best for you.
For Cheryl Kohl ’26, Curry’s personalized support meant meeting with her PAL advisor to create a study schedule and improve her time
At Curry, we’ll show you how to advocate for your needs and goals, so you can embrace everything that makes you you
management skills. She also received extra time for her exams in Nutrition. In Chemistry, where she felt more comfortable with testing, she told her advisor she didn’t need the same accommodations. Tailoring her support on a class-by-class basis gave her the freedom to advocate for herself and trust in her strengths.
Cheryl also found a community within PAL— through meetups, trivia nights, donut-eating contests, and residence hall hangouts—where she knew her experiences and perspectives were embraced and understood.
This new program, launched in 2024, offers social assistance, transitional support, self-advocacy support, and accommodations for those with ASD, anxiety, or depression, including tools for understanding social cues and nonverbal
communication, initiating communication, sensory processing, and more. It’s a way we meet everyone’s needs with personalized care and expertise.

Skubie Mageza ’14 knows the power of preparation. Moving to Boston from Zimbabwe with his mother and brother at seven years old, Skubie came with a dream—working on-air for ESPN. Coming to Curry made it happen. His first year, he began reporting from the sidelines for Curry’s television station CC8 and editing and recording highlights. Soon after, Curry’s career resources connected him with an internship at NESN, which led to his first job in the industry working behind the camera at FOX25 in Boston. By 2021, he found himself on set at the largest sports broadcast network in the world. Just like he’d planned.
Curry prepares you for success in any field. With our Curry Commitment, you’ll begin shaping your future career from your first year, ensuring you’re well-prepared to succeed as you transition into the professional world. Our Center for Global and Career Services connects you with internships, employers, and professional resources that are made for you to achieve your goals.
Curry is the only college in Massachusetts to offer a job guarantee program, providing four years of career readiness in key areas like selfdevelopment, critical thinking, leadership, and teamwork. Loan Relief: We’ll pay your federal student loan payments for up to 12 months while you receive ongoing guidance from your Curry career advisor.
