As a college athlete, juggling practice, workouts, class, and a social life can be difficult. Mastering the art of time management wasn’t something that I realized would take intentional effort, but it became a necessity for my success
Looking back over my time at Cumberland University, I am beyond grateful for those who took the time to mold me into the man I am today. Resources like Tutoring Services and the campus Writing Center, along with their dedicated staff, truly paved the way for my success both in the classroom and on the field. As a Freshman, I struggled academically before getting into my major specific courses The time spent in various Business and Accounting tutoring labs helped me overcome academic hurdles and taught me invaluable lessons about proactive planning
I am currently pursuing my Master of Business Administration after completing my undergraduate degree at CU. Because of my experiences the good and the bad I know how important it is for me to be an example to those around me Moving out of state to attend Cumberland University encouraged me to find a support system that had my best interests at heart
Because of the continued support of many like you, I was able to easily access opportunities that set me up for longterm success early in my college career
The support of faculty, staff, coaches, and the community, both on and off campus, serve as a reminder that when we Rise Together we are capable of immensely more!

SAVANNA'S STORY
As a Cumberland University student, I have been fortunate to serve in a number of leadership roles across campus. My time as a Phoenix has been elevated as a Presidential Ambassador, an employee of the CU Shop, a student athlete, a campus tutor and a Student Alumni Ambassador. Opportunities for leadership and service have given me the chance to share my story and pay it forward to current and future students.
The importance of philanthropy was something I learned quickly after arriving at CU. My success has been encouraged and supported by so many on and off campus. Resources like Academic Coaching, Tutoring, Financial Aid, and Career Services allow my peers and I to feel confident in our academic pursuits and our personal development. The fact that so many contribute to ensuring support services are easily accessible for Cumberland students is a reminder that I am not alone and that even though my family is still miles away in Canada, I am a valued part of a new family the Cumberland Family Because of the generosity of others and the example that has been set, I chose to become a Peer Tutor in the office of Tutoring Services in hopes of assisting other students on their academic journey
The college experience is unique for each student, and because of efforts fueled through Rise Together, I am better prepared for my future as I strive to leave a legacy on campus and beyond.

LILY'S STORY
As I head into my Sophomore year at Cumberland University, I am grateful for the opportunities that have been made readily available to me, ensuring my continued success and personal development. In one short year, I can already recognize substantial growth in myself, and I can’t wait to reflect on what lessons I have learned in the next year. As I continue to step out of my comfort zone, I am confident that my future is bright.
My time on campus has been full of new experiences and the constant support I have received from faculty, staff, and the community as a whole is a reminder that I can become whomever I want to be and am afforded the tools to do so. Whether students need academic support or are seeking out resources like the Vise Library and its multiple databases, technology, or printing, they don’t have to look far for important support services or encouragement I have been fortunate to spend time specifically in the Vise Library utilizing its research and reference tools Such easily accessible resources on campus allow me to become self-sufficient while also boosting my confidence and lowering outside stress.

ARSHEEN'S STORY
It is often difficult to find the words to express what my time at Cumberland University has meant to me. This year as I step into my role as Student Government President, I am reminded how fortunate and blessed I am because of the generosity of others and the impact such generosity has had not only on me, but also on the student body as a whole The connections I have made on campus with faculty and staff, paired with a variety of easily accessible support resources have played a large role in my college experience and truly make Cumberland University a one-of-a-kind community.
Because of the support of so many, my peers and I are able to focus on putting our best foot forward each and every day as we strive to be impactful change makers on campus and beyond With resources provided by the Rise Together Annual Appeal, like Tutoring Services, the campus Writing Center, Counseling Services, Academic Coaching, Career Services, Financial Aid, databases and research forums housed in Vise Library, each and every student is capable of embodying the spirit of the Phoenix and rising above barriers and hardships as we become the best versions of ourselves.
