These two sweethearts were dumped on the side of the road, another favorite thing to do down south.

One of our rescue coordinators picked them up and brought them to safety at a Veterinarian clinic!!

They are the sweetest girls, and they enjoy spending time together! They are approximately 18 months old, both Chihuahua mixes, and they are heartworm negative and spayed!

Bella The little single girl is approximately 12 weeks old and was rescued by one of our foster families in the Carolinas! Just a little single, sitting there all by herself, waiting for someone to give her a chance to have a family of her own! We are told she is a Boxer mix, and she is very, very sweet!

Bobby Poor Bobby!!! He was surrendered to a shelter down south when his owner realized that taking care of a puppy was more work than expected.

Unfortunately, these types of things happen a lot.

A lot of puppies are adopted by owners who just want them because they’re cute, but they do not think of the kind of commitment and work it takes to raise a puppy! Bobby is a shepherd mix, about 12-13 weeks old, and he’s super sweet!! He is good with kids, good with other animals, and he just loves to be loved!!

On November 7, 2017, voters will go into voting booths throughout New York State and, as they are every 20 years, will be faced with the Constitutionally mandated question: ”Shall there be a convention to revise the constitution and amend the same?” Providing insight on this issue will be Jim Malatras, President of the Rockefeller Institute of Government for the State University of New York System, a think tank providing cutting-edge evidence-based public policy to decision makers across the nation. The public is invited to attend and learn about this important issue which will be on the ballot this November.

SCOTIA - Our Redeemer Lutheran Church located on the corner of Glen Avenue & So. Reynolds Street in Scotia is hosting a free presentation about Human Trafficking on Tuesday October 24th at 7pm. The speaker, Debbie Fowler, founder of Eyes Wide Open of Northeast New York witnessed human trafficking while living in Kuwait with her husband, John who was on assignment there. Eyes Wide Open was established in August 2015 with a vision of providing safe homes of healing and hope for women and girls who have been trafficked. Human trafficking is estimated to be a $150 billion dollar industry. It exists everywhere including in the U.S. Debbie also helps run, Her Treasure Box, a non profit store on Van Vranken Avenue in Schenectady which is run by volunteers. All store profits support Eyes Wide Open, NENY,Inc mission and goals.

League Of Women Voters Of Saratoga County Reminds Voters To Register By October 13th

SARATOGA COUNTY - The League of Women Voters of Saratoga County reminds residents that in New York State, unlike many other states, you must plan ahead. In order to vote on Nov 7th you must be registered to vote by October 13th. The LWV of Saratoga County recently provided registration opportunities in eight locations throughout the county, and over 500 residents stopped by our sites to pick up information about the upcoming November ballot, to ask questions about voting, to register to vote and to pick up forms according to Kathy Koebrich, NVRD chairman. New York State does not have same day registration, so if you want to vote and are not registered the deadline is October 13th.

Residents still interested in registering may go to the Saratoga County Board of Elections website to download the form to fill out and mail it in, but the deadline is approaching.

“In addition, New York State does not have open primaries. If you are considering participating in any potential primaries in 2018 you must be enrolled in your party of choice by that same October 13,2017 date, a full eleven months before the primary, so plan ahead” according to LWV spokesperson Francine Rodger.

The LWV of NY State supports changes to NYS ballot access. With only 29% of its eligible voters turning out to vote in 2014 and 57% in 2016, New York State continues to be among the worst states in the nation in voter turnout and participation, ranking 49th and 41st respectively in those two years. To combat declining voter participation, New York needs to enact legislation that will remove barriers that voters face on Election Day. Allowing voters to vote on Election Day and up to 7 days before an election, or vote via absentee ballot without having to provide a legally permitted reason, will give voters

the opportunity to cast their ballots when it is most convenient for them and in the manner most convenient during election season.

Agency-based automatic registration, wherein designated agency applications will also serve as voter registrations, statewide voter registration transfers, and electronic and online voter registration will make registering to vote and keeping one’s registration easier and will help to modernize New York’s restrictive voter registration process. Looking for something fun to do this weekend? How about goat yoga? Or attending a supernatural showcase at The Saratoga City Tavern in downtown Saratoga Springs? If you are looking for some adventures around Saratoga Springs then meet your three new best friends: Jillian Mayott, Kara Koenig and Allie Dockum. These three women are the masterminds behind Saratoga Adventures. They are well-versed in the city’s hot spots and know how to make an ordinary experience extraordinary.

Meeting at Kru Coffee in Saratoga Springs for this interview, Jillian, Kara and Allie are enthusiastic about connecting and promoting local businesses in Saratoga Springs while giving people an unforgettable experience. “This all really started by us going out ourselves and enjoying all that Saratoga had to offer and we were meeting business owners and the amazing things they were doing and wanted to share them with everyone,” Jillian said about Saratoga Adventures.

The women quickly saw a need for creating, collaborating and marketing unique events throughout Saratoga Springs. The key to making an event an adventure is the willingness of business owners to think outside of the box and take a chance. “We love creating exceptional events with businesses but not your normal balls and galas,” Kara said. “When we do an event there is a lot of cross-promotion. These multi-business collaborations gets a brand out to the community. But, the community benefits, too, because they are enjoying the event.”

Their upcoming October 14 Tattoos & Brews event at Shmaltz Brewing Company in Clifton Park, NY, won’t be your typical craft beer tasting event. If anyone attending the event gets a tattoo of the Shmaltz Brewery skull and bones that adorns most of its packaging they will be rewarded with one free six-pack of beer a month for LIFE. Saratoga Adventures is a creating force behind downtown Saratoga’s first haunted house at The Saratoga City Tavern. On October 30-31, all four of the tavern’s floors will be decorated for Halloween, with the first floor being family friendly.

“We are always trying create and promote events that are inclusive,” Kara said. Saratoga Adventures is for all Saratogians. “We try to accommodate all ages,” Jillian said. Goat Yoga, for example, was a Saratoga Adventures promoted family-friendly event held September 16 at Shmaltz Brewing Company. The goats came from the Into the Woods Farm in Middle Grove, NY, while the yoga instructor was from Rise Yoga and Movement Arts Center in Saratoga Springs. Allie noted that this event had it all. “We have yoga, beer and goats,” she said. The event resonated with people because 75 had registered for the event. Jillian, Kara and Allie attended the event as well, as they do with most of their events. “We plan things we would want to do ourselves so not only do we want to be at the events for our business but we want to be at the events because they are fun,” Jillian said.

Jillian is the connector among the women behind Saratoga Adventures, which is probably why she is so passionate about connecting businesses to the people that call Saratoga Springs home. It was Jillian that met Kara at the gym around the time she had met Allie at the dog park. “I’d have a conversation with Kara at 5 in the morning at the gym and then later that day I’d have a similar conversation with Allie,” she said. “It finally occurred to me that I had to get Kara and Allie to meet because I just knew they would click.” Jillian was right. Now, Allie and Kara live across the street from each other.

All three women have full-time jobs in addition to Saratoga Adventures. Jillian is a commercial real estate specialist with Roohan Realty. She is also a brand ambassador for Saratoga Honda, which means she is in some of their commercials and at events. A life-long Capital District resident, Jillian grew up in Niskayuna. Prior to getting into real estate, she was a business owner herself.

Allie, a native of Saratoga, started her event planning business, Life & Love Events, in Buffalo, NY more than two years ago before relocating home.

Kara’s background is in advertising, marketing and graphic design. She has been a Saratogian for the past 12 years.

“Having the three of us together creates a powerful team,” Jillian said. “We have an in-house event planner,” Jillian said of Allie. “She knows all the ins and outs of planning events. Kara’s graphic design knowledge is a benefit for us and businesses we connect with.

And my background in business and passion for helping start, grow and develop business are all reasons why Saratoga Adventures works.”

The other reason why Saratoga Adventures continues to be successful is because Jillian, Kara and Allie are having fun. “It is easier to balance it all between the three of us,” Kara said. Jillian and Allie both echoed Kara’s sentiments. “We have each other’s back,” Jillian said. “We don’t take advantage of each other. We trust each other,” Allie said.

Air filters have an important job in a vehicle, prolonging the life span of engines and helping cars run more smoothly and efficiently.

Purpose of vehicle air filters Vehicle combustion engines operate with a mixture of fuel and air. Without oxygen, gasoline or diesel fuels cannot burn properly and power the engine. The air filter’s job is to prevent dirt, dust and other debris from being sucked into an engine.

Otherwise, grime can build up and impede engine performance or cause erosion of parts under the hood.
