Easter is central to the tenets of our Faith, with its focus on the reality of Resurrection, redemption, and rebirth. Some local Congregations have announced a homecoming theme in their Lenten observance, which reflects these concepts, and we at St Michael the Archangel Parish join in “welcoming home” all who wish to join us. NEW LIFE ON EASTER MORN The Stuyvesant and Nassau Reformed Churches celebrated Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, March 24, 2013, with focus on the impact that rejection can have on our lives. In moving along in Holy Week, both churches will stop at Stuyvesant Reformed on Maundy Thursday, March 28, to meditate on John 13: 1-17 and 31b-35, celebrate Communion, Ceremonial Washing, and Stripping of the Sanctuary- time, 7 p.m.. Good Friday worship will be at Nassau Reformed In a service of Lessons and Hymns titled “The Agony of The Cross. Easter Sunrise will be 6:30 a.m. in the meadows at corner of Sharptown and Allendale Roads in Stuyvesant where the sunrise on a clear day fully highlights the whole beauty of God’s Creation.

The Easter Sunday sermon, at both churches, will be based on the Gospel of John 20:1-18 and titled “New Life on Easter Morn.”

The Nassau (11 a.m.) and Stuyvesant Reformed Church (9:30 a.m.) will hold their worship at usual times. Both sanctuaries will radiate the glory of the resurrection. Parents are encouraged to bring their young fold to worship with them. Sunday School will resume at Nassau Reformed on April 7.

This concert, sponsored by the Classical Guitar Society of Upstate New York, is presented by Dr. Frederick Hellwitz. Dr. Hellwitz will be performing works by Barrios, J.S. Bach, Dowland and Villa Lobos. He is involved in the local musical community, both as an artist member and board member of the Monday Musical Club of Albany, as well as in his role as president of the Classical Guitar Society of Upstate New York. Dr. Hellwitz has performed in New York, Florida, Chicago, and Great Britain; and also has won many awards in guitar competition. He particularly loves “the subtleties of sound the instrument is so well-suited for producing.”

HOPE 7’S “A TASTE OF TROY” A Taste of Troy, a benefit for Hope 7 Community Center’s Youth Programs and Food Pantry, is April 16th at Franklin Terrace Ballroom from 6:00-8:30pm. Tickets are $20 pre-sale (call 272-8029) and $25 at the door.

DISCOVER SORRENTO THIS NOVEMBER The Sand Lake Town Library is pleased to announce a November 1-8 trip to Sorrento, Italy, which overlooks the most beautiful bays of the Amalfi Coast.
