Transformed: An Inner Healing Conference Those scarred from the loss of a parent, childhood abuse or post-traumatic stress disorder are invited to attend “Transformed: An Inner Healing Confer-
ence” 10/19-10/20, at the Christ the King Spiritual Life Center in Greenwich. Christian inner healing is a unique form of prayer and prayer ministry that attempts to free people from the negative emotional effects of prior harmful experiences. It uses various prayer techniques that encourage people to remember past hurtful situations and visualize Jesus with them at that moment. Keynote speaker Judith MacNutt will teach attendees how to pray for others and be sensitive to those who are suffering from trauma. Clinical psychologist Paul Caprera will speak about productive ways to respond to trauma in our lives. Additionally, the Rev. Frank Lockwood, CASAC will talk about the effects of suffering from trauma. “Conference attendees will take away a level of healing and become much more confident Christians not just in their own lives, but in helping others too,” said Conference Coordinator Fr. Mark Chesnut. The conference fee is $95 (through 10/1), $115

Attitudes Towards Death & Mourning Reflected in Gravestone Styles from Colonial Period to 1940s If you love old cemeteries and find them very interesting places to visit, this talk is for you. Join the Greenbush Historical Society on Sunday, October 14, 2 PM, at the East Greenbush Community Library when Cemetery historian and author of “These Sacred Grounds,” Kelly Grimaldi, offers a presentation discussing how and why cemeteries, gravestones and epitaphs changed from the early Colonial period through the 19th century Rural Cemetery Movement into the 20th century. This PowerPoint presentation features the local Historic St. Agnes Cemetery founded in 1867 and neighboring Albany Rural Cemetery incorporated in 1841. We will learn how people responded and coped with death and mourning in the late 1600 and 1700s as compared to the 1800 and 1900s. We’ll discuss why rural cemeteries were founded, what early gravestones looked like and how funerary art and symbolism changed through the Victorian Era into the 20th century. MINING
$500,000 and $2.6 million retail, based on online industry estimates. This month, DEC and Clemente agreed to settle the case by having him pay a $5,000 fine and restore the site this fall with grading and reseeding. The episode has drawn the ire of town officials and also highlights a possible loophole in state rules meant to help developers avoid stringent environmental reviews that mine owners like Clemente must meet. The so-called state mining “exemption” that Dickinson received and Clemente exploited allows developers to remove sand and gravel as part of the project. A two-year construction deadline is meant to discourage back-door mining projects disguised as development. In a May 2014 environmental report that Dickinson filed with DEC seeking the mining exemption, he identified himself as the owner of the residentially zoned Stop 13 Road property. However, he had sold the land to Clemente in May 2009, according to Rensselaer County real estate records. But when Dickinson sought and received town permission in 2014 for plans to build the two homes there, he identified Clemente’s company as the property owner. That town approval noted that DEC had the sole power to enforce the appropriate environmental rules. Last week, town Supervisor Nancy Perry said the town had no idea that Clemente had used Dickinson’s exemption to expand his mining operation, since the work is not visible from outside the mine property. She said the episode is troubling in a town where efforts by long-established miners like Clemente to expand have sparked some community opposition. The issue comes as a state judge weighs a lawsuit that Clemente and other firms filed against the town in September 2017 over a new zoning law that limits mining. The lawsuit claims the town was “tampering with the competitive mining market.” Perry said town officials want to meet with both Clemente and Dickinson to learn “why the town was not informed of the amount of gravel removed, and to let them know that while the town supports mining, this type of action is intolerable and disrespectful to our citizens.” Clemente’s 151-acre mine in Sand Lake has been operating since the 1950s. Perry, who as a planning board member cast the sole vote against Dickinson’s housing proposal for the Stop 13 Road property, said the new zoning law was meant as a balance between the interests of miners and town residents. That law includes a requirement that any potential new mine must be on a parcel that is at least 20 acres. The Stop 13 Road site that Clemente mined is 17 acres. The law also sets limits on how close to roads and adjoining property lines a mine can be. Perry said that the town will “be even more closely scrutinizing any action this developer puts forth for our planning board consideration.” Clemente’s lawyer, Andrew Gilchrist of Troy, said that “Troy Sand & Gravel has graded and removed gravel from many projects without any issue about a time limit on construction. While Troy Sand disputed DEC’s policy enforcement, the matter was resolved.” Gilchrist said town planners had reviewed and approved the potential Stop 13 Road building plan, and that DEC had approved Dickinson’s request for the exemption from mining rules. “The company looks forward to continuing its good working relationship with both DEC and the town,” Gilchrist added. Dickinson had initially sought state permission to remove more than twice the amount of sand and gravel than DEC ultimately approved, according to a May 2014 environmental report that he filed with DEC. The report sought permission to remove 100,000 cubic yards of material -- the equivalent of some 7,200 dump truck loads -- during the construction of the two homes. In 2015, DEC approved the removal of 45,000 cubic yards under the two-year time limit. No access roads were ever built from Stop 13 Road into the purported building sites. Instead, Clemente extended a haul road from his mine into the adjoining property and began excavating, carving out steep hillsides appearing to be up to 30 feet high, according to an aerial view of the site from Google Maps. Messages left for Dickinson, owner of L. Dickinson Construction Inc., of Sand Lake, were not returned. DEC staffers checking the property in April 2016 found that Clemente had started mining. More than a year later, in October 2017, DEC warned Clemente that unless the homes were built by April 2018 the mining exemption that was still in place might be yanked. After state inspectors found in June 2018 that no such construction had been started, they ordered Clemente to stop mining entirely. CONTINUED FROM 3

Home Waters Chapter of Trout Meeting
Schodack Supervisor’s Report for September 2018
Home Waters Chapter of Trout Unlimited is holding their monthly meeting on Thursday, October 11th, 6PM. The location for this meeting has been changed to the Grafton State Park’s new Welcome Center, which is located at the end of the main parking lot. There will be snacks as well as coffee, tea and hot chocolate available. Contact us at homewaterstu@gmail.com or 518-3266201 for more information.
In a continuing effort to keep residents informed of my activities and issues pertaining to the Town, I submit to them this report for September of 2018. As always, further information can be found on the Town’s website or its social media pages by searching for Town of Schodack on Facebook or Twitter. On September 1st, I visited the Schaghticoke Fair and spent some time in the County building as a
representative from Schodack. I always enjoy any chance I have to spend time with constituents as well as officials from surrounding municipalities, County Government, and State representatives. The Schaghticoke Fair is a wonderful way to support various businesses, farmers, and youth groups from throughout our County. I enjoyed my time there and look forward to attending again next year. At our September 13th Board meeting, the Town Board had the honor to recognize the courageous actions of Officer Jordan Harrington. On August 21st, while returning from an accident investigation training course, Officer Harrington came upon a single car accident in the median of the I-87 and I-90 interchange. Seeing a heavy smoke condition coming from underneath the vehicle and noticing an elderly man still in the driver’s seat, Officer Harrington closed down the surrounding lane of traffic and attempted to get the operator to leave the vehicle. The operator, seemingly confused and unaware of the situation, didn’t respond to commands to exit the vehicle. Having noticed a fire beginning to spread under the vehicle, Officer Harrington removed the driver with minimal force. Officer Harrington then escorted the man to his patrol unit and retrieved a fire extinguisher, which he then used to prevent the fire from spreading further. This was just another example of the compassionate and selfless actions that Officer Harrington has continually demonstrated. On behalf of the Town Board, I want to extend the gratitude and appreciation of our Town to Officer Harrington. Finally, I want to remind everyone that our Fall Clean-Up Days are October 11th, 12th, and 13th. Transfer Station hours and additional information regarding Clean-Up Days can be found on the Town’s website, www.schodack.org. ~David Harris, Town of Schodack Supervisor

AP Semifinalist in the 2019 National Merit® Scholarship Program announced Heath Quiles, principal of Averill Park High School, is pleased to announce that Michael Beskid, a senior at
Averill Park High School, has been named as a semifinalist in the 64th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Michael is among approximately 16,000 semifinalists announced by officials of National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships, worth more than $31 million, that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a Merit® Scholarship award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. About 90 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and approximately half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar® title. About 1.6 million juniors in some 22,000 high schools entered the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2017 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship “Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), which served as an initial screen of program entrants. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists, which represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state. The number of Semifinalists in a state is proportional to the state’s percentage of the national total of graduating seniors. To become a Finalist, a Semifinalist and his or her high school must submit a detailed scholarship application, in which they provide information about the Semifinalist’s academic record, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, employment, and honors and award received. A Semifinalist must have an outstanding academic record throughout high school, be endorsed and recommended by the high school official, write an essay, and earn SAT scores that confirm the student’s earlier performance on the qualifying test.

AROUND TROY Troy proposed budget to raise trash fee $4 By AMANDA FRIES
City residents could see their trash fee jump $4 and property taxes rise about 1.4 percent next year under Mayor Patrick Madden’s proposed 2019 budget. The Democrat presented his $73.5 million spending plan to City Council members on Friday at City Hall. The proposed budget increases taxes $33.37 on an average, single-family home assessed at $150,000. Madden said it continues the city’s “tradition of prudent, fact-based budgeting,” albeit, not as exciting as the last two years’ worth of budgets. “Our first two budgets were challenging. They called for difficult decisions in the form of higher taxes and fees coupled with staff reductions and service cuts,” he said. “Those steps, however, were necessary to restore our fiscal house, and they have produced the desired results.”
Breakfast . Lunch . Dinner
YOUR LOCAL NEWS & ADVERTISING SECTION Madden touted improved fiscal stress scores from the state Comptroller’s Office, improved bond ratings as well as modest surpluses. But Republican officials were quick to reject the proposal because of the continuation of the trash fee, which they label a “tax.” The city’s recycling fee of $29 was replaced with a $160 per-unit trash fee this year. Councilmembers who voted for the fee last year specifically noted in the legislation that it would end Dec. 31, 2018, City Council President Carmella Mantello said. “The legislation is not effective in January, so to present a budget that essentially calls for a fee that the council hasn’t renewed is very concerning,” she said. “Number two, the people of Troy were already paying for their garbage through taxes, that’s why I look at it as a double tax.” Mantello said she’d rather see a definitive plan to move forward with a cost by volume, or pay-as-you-throw, system as well as fine-tuning the overall budget to reduce expenditures and expand revenues. Last month, the city released a solid waste management plan that outlines the situation for Troy and examines options for future disposal, including pay-asyou-throw. The draft plan suggests a system could be implemented in 2020 with specifics worked out in 2019. “It was a tremendous amount of work from a whole bunch of constituents, and I think it’s insulting to say that that work is not valued. It’s a good plan,” said Democratic Majority Leader Anasha Cummings. “It doesn’t get into all the details of pay-as-you-throw yet because that is an extremely complicated process which needs to be looked at closely.” Many Capital Region communities - including Albany and Schenectady - have trash fees, a mechanism many

are pursuing across the state. Several also have pay-asyou-throw systems, like Utica. Madden said nearly all the $3.1 million increases in expenses are due to two items, a jump in the city’s debt payment and costs associated with settling union contracts. The city continues to carry $24.6 million in Troy Municipal Assistance Corp. (MAC) debt issued to bail out the city in the 1990s. This debt, which consumes about $6 million in city revenues, is projected to be paid off in 2022. If other adjustments in the budget hadn’t been made, the MAC debt would have cause property taxes to increase beyond the 2 percent state tax cap, Madden said. “We are managing our spending and our financial commitments we make not merely on what we can afford today, but with an eye to the consequences five or 10 years down the road,” he said. “We govern not solely for the benefit of today’s taxpayers, but for our children as well. We will never kick the can down the road, even when it is politically expedient.” Last year, the Collar City was on the precipice of state control again when the Common Council refused to approve Madden’s 2018 budget because of a proposed trash fee. Without approval, it would have left the city with a $2.9 million hole, violating a requirement of MAC debt not to go into the red. Days before the deadline to address the deficit, Madden and the Common Council reached an agreement to impose a $160 per residential unit trash fee and cut spending by $638,880. These two moves reduced the budget to $73 million and raised revenues enough to fill the hole. Councilmembers will host budget hearings to discuss the specifics and for the public to weigh in. The first meeting is scheduled Thursday. afries@timesunion.com - 518-454-5353 - @mandy_fries

As October turns into full swing, the Averill Park Warriors are continuing to excite. Boys soccer may have locked up a two seed in sectionals as they swept past their rivals Burnt Hills 4-2 on 10/4. Thomas Hacker set the tone scoring after just 13 seconds on a long ball sent in by Owen Joyce. After Burnt Hills tied it up on a penalty kick, senior Logan Bielawski delivered a hat trick to secure the win for AP. Up next for the Warriors is Troy on 10/11. The football team is still yet to be defeated with Amsterdam becoming the Warrior’s latest victims on 10/5. AP scored 34 unanswered points to begin the game before coming out with a 54-27 win. Joe Milanese scored a rushing, receiving, and kickoff return touchdown in the victory. James Finelli, Carl Nitz, Matt Morin, Jake Bornt, and Andrew Kardelky all also found the end zone for the Warriors. The Warriors will look to remain undefeated against Troy on 10/12. Girls soccer tied state ranked Bethlehem 1-1 on 10/2 with Bryanna Swinson providing the lone goal for AP. This was followed by a 3-1 victory over Burnt Hills on 10/4. Swinson found the nets again, along with Syd Haskin and Madelyn Van Aken. On 10/6, the Warriors ousted South Glens Falls in a non-league game. Lydia Ware broke the game open with 2 goals in the second half for AP. Girls tennis had a successful week as they picked up a 6-1 victory against Mohonasen to open up their sectional play on 10/6. On 10/7, they won a tournament at Maple Hill High School. Shawn Cornelius, Charlie Dunigan, Zach McGrath, and David Mooradian all represented AP at the Class A Golf Sectionals on 10/3. Cornelius led the way shooting a 90. Dunigan and Mooradian each recorded 94’s and McGrath shot a 96. The girls’ volleyball team registered a big win against Bethlehem on 10/2 with scores of 25-18, 25-19, 25-19. Jackie Borland led the way with 12 kills. Delaney Munyan provided 7 aces and Emma Crawley had 30 assists for the Warriors in the win. On 10/4, AP fell to Burnt Hills 25-16, 25-20, 25-7. I will be back next week with more Warrior updates. Go Warriors! to play organized games vs other schools (more info to follow). Hoop Camp will run on Saturdays for 10 Sessions beginning Saturday, November 3rd, at the Algonquin Middle School Gyms. Registration will be available online at www.apyouthbasketball.org
This week’s scholar athlete is Megan Glanton. Megan is a captain and starting goalkeeper for the Averill Park Girls Varsity Soccer team. Having started her soccer career in kindergarten, Megan has played the sport for 13 years. Now, Megan enters her senior year ready to succeed. Along with her years of training, Megan has prepared for this season by lifting weights, running, playing soccer, and working with goalie trainers. Megan has demonstrated the effects of her offseason efforts as she shut-out some of the best teams in the Suburban Council, including Shen, Shaker, Niskayuna, and Saratoga. Along with soccer, Megan also participates on the Girls Varsity Indoor and Outdoor Track teams. Just as she has for soccer, Megan has strived to prepare for the track seasons. This year, Megan looks to “break some school records before I leave Averill Park.” Megan has found success in each of her sports, but her achievements have not come easy. Last year, Megan tore the cartilage in her hip, yet even this did not end her season. “I wasn’t able to run at all in indoor, but I threw shot put instead.” Megan continued, “I made it my priority to get my hip better, so I could try to come back for outdoor track season and make it possible to play my best during my senior year.” Along with her own efforts, Megan attributes her success to Coach Luskin. “Coach Luskin helps me out a lot, he pushes me during track and soccer. He sets up goalie training for me during the summer and during the season.” Megan has not only worked hard in her sports, she has also put great efforts into her academics. Megan has been able to maintain a GPA of 95 throughout high school. This becomes especially difficult with a schedule such as Megan’s, as a three-season athlete and a travel soccer player. Megan has kept herself motivated academically since she knows she would be unhappy if her grades fell. After all of her hard work in high school, Megan is prepared to enter college, where she plans to study physical therapy. Along with her academic training, Megan hopes to run track at a collegiate level. For all age groups, we will need parent volunteers to help facilitate and/or run Hoop Camp. No basketball experience is required! If you’d like to volunteer, please register on the website as well. Please direct any questions to apyouthbasketball@gmail.com

The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) for Rensselaer County is seeking new volunteers, both with and without any medical experience, to supplement the county’s health department staff in times of crisis. The MRC was instituted by the federal government’s Department of Health and Human Services following the attacks on 9/11. It is a national, county-based program for deploying volunteers to everything from weather-related catastrophes to disease outbreaks and other public health emergencies. When a public health situation calls for the over 158,000 residents of Rensselaer County to be vaccinated against disease or other threats within 48 hours, the county conducts POD operations (Points of Dispensing) at several strategic locations throughout the county, administering state-provided antidotes. We still need people with backgrounds as doctors, nurses, surgeons, pharmacists, EMTs and paramedics, but we also need dentists, social workers, veterinarians, clergy, funeral home directors, law enforcement and people like YOU, who can work a laptop, phone bank, do greeting, parking and traffic control, be a runner and many other jobs. Free training in many important areas and lifesaving skills is provided. For more information, or to register, contact MRC Coordinator, Sal Scecchitano at 518 270-2633, or email sscechitao@rensco.com.

7 uses for fallen leaves 1. Spread leaves as a protective mulch to cover tender perennials or root crops/bulbs in the ground. The leaves will form a natural insulating cover that keeps the soil and the plants within a bit warmer over winter. 2. Create a pile of leaves that will break down and form a crumbly, compost-like material called leaf mold. Even though leaf mold may sound like a blight, it’s actually a good amendment to garden soil, improving its structure and ability to hold water. Leaf mold also attracts beneficial organisms that are vital in healthy soil. 3. Brown leaves can be added to green materials in compost piles to improve the health of the compost being formed. According to the healthy living resource Care2, the ideal ratio is 75 percent brown to 25 percent green materials in compost. Turn compost piles regularly to aerate them. 4. Store dried, mulched leaves in a dry spot so they can be used in the spring as a weed barrier for spring plantings. They will keep weeds at bay and help retain soil moisture to ensure small sprouts have the resources to grow. 5. Use shredded leaves as a lawn supplement. Pass a lawn mower over leaves left on the lawn to break them down into pieces too small to rake. This will help keep the lawn healthy throughout the winter without blocking out needed sunlight.
6. Bag dried leaves and pack them tightly together in cold areas of the home, such as basements or garages. They can act as added insulation. Bags of leaves also can be placed around planting containers to protect them from frost.
7. Gather a few of the best-looking leaves and preserve them. Use an iron on a low setting and press leaves between two pieces of waxed paper until the waxed paper seals together. Or use clear contact paper to achieve the same effect.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Social Security future? Letter to the Editor: Social Security has an 83-year-history but will only be able to pay full benefits for 15 more years if nothing is done to make the program financially sound. This will require action by Congress. I urge the voters in the 19th congressional district to ask Rep. Faso and Mr. Delgado how they will address this issue. Will they support long term solvency for Social Security? Will they support continuing a Social Security that can provide a stable foundation for retirement income into the future – and avert the approximately 25 percent cut in benefits in 2034 if nothing changes? Remember: we contribute to Social Security our entire working lives. We have earned this benefit. Be the Difference. Vote. ~Fran Hamblin, East Nassau Editor’s Note: The above article does not necessarily reflect the opinion or endorsement of the Editor or the Staff of THE ADVERTISER, and for all intents and purposes is impossible to verify the truth and veracity of its contents.
“The Poestenkill PDD defined” Letter to the Editor: Contrary to the willful false statement in the 4th Whereas Clause of the litany of lies, deceit and deception, Poestenkill Supervisor Dominic Jacangelo voted to give himself authority to sign on August 16, 2018 to benefit Waste Management, the only Planned Development District that legally exists in Poestenkill is the PDD SO ORDERED by then-Rensselaer County Supreme Court Justice Edward O. Spain on May 19, 1994 wherein was clearly stated, “The record of the Town Board regarding the establishment of the Planned Development District is hereby supplemented by these presence [sic] and the establishment of the Planned Development District by the Town Board Resolution is hereby ratified. Exhibit J of that Article 78 was a copy of the Poestenkill Town Board meeting minutes for November 10, 1992 wherein was clearly stated concerning the Benson Brothers Planned Development District as follows: “Motion by Armlin, seconded by Legenbauer to grant the Benson Brothers PDD application based on the information provided to the Board and to include only the scope as set forth in the application and maps.” The application to the Town Board from Bensons for the PDD on May 13, 1992 states as follows at page 3 with respect to “Intended Use of P.D.D.: “The proposed transfer station is, quite simply, a place where small trucks dump into a larger trailer for economical purposes.” “It is merely a cost-effective means of minimizing the applicants’ transportation costs associated with solid waste removal, thus allowing Benson Brothers Disposal, Inc. to maintain its competitiveness and provide a longterm service to the residents of the Town of Poestenkill.” As to the “Objective” of the P.D.D., at page 4, the Bensons applications stated as follows: “The P.D.D., in whole, will allow Benson Brothers Disposal, Inc. to keep pace with the dynamic and increasingly regulated field of solid waste management.” “As a result, customers of Benson Brothers Disposal, Inc. will be insured stability in solid waste removal rates
regardless of future developments in disposal sites.” That is what the Benson Brothers Planned Development District in Poestenkill was established for, not for Waste Management. Why did Dominic lie? ~Paul Plante, Averill Park Editor’s Note: The above article does not necessarily reflect the opinion or endorsement of the Editor or the Staff of THE ADVERTISER, and for all intents and purposes is impossible to verify the truth and veracity of its contents.

EMPLOYMENT Workplace gifting etiquette: Get giving right Gift giving in the workplace can be challenging territory to navigate. And as anyone who has received an inappropriate gift or something that really wasn’t useful can attest, he or she probably doesn’t want to face a situation in which a gift leads to office gossip. According to a poll conducted by Harris, around half of workers plan to gift at least one business associate around the holidays but are confused about what to give. Too often it’s up to workers to navigate these etiquette minefields on their own, but the following tips can help the process go smoothly. · Keep it impersonal. Impersonal doesn’t mean it’s acceptable to grab anything off the shelf. But the gift should not be something that would offend tastes or sentiments. Avoid clothing, perfume, jewelry, or accessories. Lotions and other scented items are also ill-advised.
· Skip your boss. Etiquette experts say that gifts should flow downward not upward in the realm of employment ranking. That means it’s best to stick with gifting colleagues who are on the same level as you. Buying a gift for the boss may look like you’re simply trying to score brownie points instead of offering a meaningful gift. · Give group gifts. Rather than gifting individuals, it can be safer to give a group gift from which many can benefit. This can include coffee and pastries from a nearby bakery, or a bouquet of flowers to brighten up the office environment. · Keep prices modest. Office giving is not about illustrating who can afford the most expensive gift. Remember, some people will not be able to reciprocate, and they shouldn’t feel uncomfortable for being on the receiving end of a lavish gift. · Follow the rules. Gift exchanges should be cleared with supervisors or human resources professionals. It pays to check if there are rules in place

for gifting others. · Avoid cash gifts. Giving cash or checks is not a good idea. Money should only come by way of bonuses from higher-ups. If you’re stuck on what to give, a gift card to a store that a coworker visits is acceptable. Gifting at work is complicated, and certain etiquette should be followed so no lines are crossed.
Did you know? Watchdog organizations like the Better Business Bureau warn against donating to charities over the telephone, but reports indicate that fraudsters are still utilizing robocalls to great effect as they prey on donors’ generous natures. According to the Federal Trade Commission, consumers report losing hundreds of millions of dollars a year to robocalls, a scam used by perpetrators of fraud in which donations to bogus charities are solicited over the phone. While some people may be surprised to learn such scams are still effective, a report from YouMail, a free robocall-blocking service, sheds some light on just how common robocalls are. According to YouMail, in July 2018, 1,591 robocalls were placed every second. That means roughly 137.5 million such calls are made every day. And the people behind these calls are very clever, sometimes using famous people’s actual voices to convince innocent people of a bogus charity’s legitimacy. In 2017, the Connecticut Better BusinessBureau issued a warning about robocalls using the voices of celebrities. The warning indicated that, after hearing the voice of a famous person, consumers were prompted to press a button to speak with a “donation agent.” Consumers concerned about being
victimized by robocalls should heed the advice of watchdog organizations and never donate or agree to donate over the phone.
