A few weeks ago, I commented that we were waiting to hear the results of the investigation of Governor Andrew Cuomo, and that these findings would allow the citizens of New York the ability to determine whom we want to represent us as Governor. Little did I know the bombshell report that Attorney General Letitia James would release only days later, corroborating the accusations of 11 women that they were harassed by Governor Cuomo. The Governor has since come out publicly to refute this report.

The harassment that is described by a female New York State Trooper may be the most horrific within the report, in my opinion. Here is a law enforcement officer, sworn to protect us and the Governor, potentially being harassed by the top official in our State. By denying all wrongdoing, he is calling this State Trooper a liar.

The Governor should resign immediately. I don’t think he represents us any longer, and he doesn’t represent our community values. In his rebuttal video, the Governor showed pictures his staff provided of kisses on the cheek, and hugs, explaining how this was normal behavior, and not inappropriate. If these people took as such, then he apologizes they feel that way. Have you ever had someone apologize to you by saying “I’m sorry you’re upset”, or “I’m sorry that you got angry”? It feels a lot like that.

At the end of his video, Governor Cuomo says that New Yorkers are not naïve. No sir, we are not. We see through what you are trying to push down on us. I personally believe the hard work that the Attorney General uncovered. I personally believe the women who were so brave to come forward.

No matter what he decides in terms of stepping down, hopefully our local voices will be heard. If not, they will be heard in the voting booth.

CLIFTON PARK - After hearing from residents who say they were bullied off fields at Clifton Common, a town councilwoman says the 99-year contract with the Clifton Park Soccer Club should undergo a review.

Councilwoman Amy Standaert said at a Town Board meeting on Monday night that a review is necessary as she is fielding calls and emails from people who are being told by the private club’s coaches that they and their children cannot play or run on the 17 acres of public fields.

ALBANY - A handful of Saratoga County residents told the state’s Independent Redistricting Commission they want to be included in a congressional district that represented the Capital Region, and not the North Country.

The commission’s virtual listening session Monday for the Capital Region and Mid-Hudson Valley was sparsely attended by

Commissioners mainly heard from Hudson Valley residents in the Westchester and Rockland county area.

The commission is tasked with drawing the new congres-

sional, Assembly and state Senate lines based on the count from the U.S. Census Bureau. An initial map, based on census data and public input, is expected to be released Sept. 15.

A final map is expected between November and January, and must be approved by the state Legislature -- although it could reject the maps entirely and draw its own, despite efforts to remove at least some of the politics from the process that were approved a decade ago.

23rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament to Raise Funds for Franklin Community Center SARATOGA SPRINGS - Registration is currently open for the 23rd Annual Franklin Open Golf Tournament to benefit Franklin Community Center.

Saratoga County 4-H Planning “4-H Project Exhibit” SARATOGA COUNTY - Any 4-H member will tell you just how much they look forward to their county fair. The food, the friends, and above all, the chance to exhibit their project work is a summer highlight to many 4-H youth. Though a lot of hard has went into planning the 2021 Saratoga County fair, youth with static exhibits such as photography, horticulture and STEM projects are not able to exhibit to their projects in a traditional format due to problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In an effort to give these 4-H youth an opportunity to demonstrate their impressive project work, Saratoga County 4-H is planning the “4-H Project Exhibition”. Experienced judges will evaluate entries earlier in the week and award ribbons for project work. Public viewing of the exhibits will take place on August 14th & 15th

from 10am-3pm at the 4-H Training Center in Ballston Spa, NY. Saratoga County 4-H Youth Development is open to all youth in Saratoga County ages 5-18. Saratoga County 4-H offers a diverse range of programming opportunities that allow youth to “learn by doing”. “Respect and preserve county lines,” said Barb Thomas, co-president of the League of Women Voters of Saratoga County.

Thomas, like others, noted many people who live in Saratoga County work within the Capital Region and not in the North Country.

The county also shares the region’s public transportation system.

She also requested the commission consider consolidating the county into two Assembly districts, not the current four. Thomas said she does expect the county’s population to increase.

Saratoga County Horse Farm Tour SARATOGA COUNTY - Join CCE Equine for a FREE Horse Farm tour on Sunday, August 22th, 2021. Recognizing Signs of Animal Pain Companion animals often bring great joy to their owners. Dogs, cats, birds, bunnies, and other furry friends make owners smile regardless of how big, small or exuberant they might be.

The pet advocacy group Four Paws says animals hide pain in the wild as an evolutionary trait. Showing weakness or pain increases the risk of being caught by predators.

Physical changes Physical changes may give clues that a pet is in pain. Here are a few signs.

• Shaking or trembling of the body.

• Arching the back or curling up into a ball.

• Holding the head below the shoulders.

• Twitching muscles or seeing that the pet is tense and the muscles are tight.

• Some pets who are in pain will pant a lot.

Mobility issues Some pain is most evident when pets exhibit issues with their mobility.

• Walking slower or refusing to walk at all.

• Inability or reluctance to jump up on furniture or use stairs.

• Failure to lie down or difficulty getting up.

• Limping or shuffling of the feet.

Certain animals may refuse to eat, while others may exhibit noticeable changes in eye brightness if they are in pain. Elevated heart rate also may indicate a pet is in pain.

Pet owners are urged to visit a vet if their pet is behaving abnormally, as various behaviors may indicate a pet is in pain.

COPS, COURT AND FIRE CALLS Weapon charge Saratoga Springs police Friday said they stopped a motorist at Exit 11 on the Northway suspected in a string of thefts from cars including a rifle that had been reported stolen.

The Ballston Spa man, 39, was charged with felony criminal weapon possession and he is being held in the Saratoga County jail on a parole warrant. Further investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected, police said.

Contempt charge Saratoga County sheriff's deputies arrested a man Thursday afternoon after responding to a Stillwater home. Before the deputy responded, the Blizzard Road man, 52, retrieved a sawed-off shotgun from the property, no threats reported, and returned to his motorcycle. When the deputy arrived the man drove away and a brief pursuit ensued.

He eventually stopped his motorcycle and was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with criminal contempt, criminal trespass, unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, criminal weapon possession, aggravated operation of a motor vehicle and speed in zone, arraigned and released to appear in court at a later date, police said.

Rensselaer man dead in Cohoes collision COHOES -- A Rensselaer man is dead and two others were injured in a three-vehicle collision Thursday night at I-787, State Police said.

Sometime just before 9:45 p.m. a 19-year-old of Fuera Bush man, driving a box truck, was stopped at the traffic light at the intersection of I-787 northbound and Bridge Avenue in Cohoes when he was rear-ended by a Chevy

Tracker driven by Milton A. Camilo-Torres, 55, of Rensselaer, troopers said.

The collision caused the box truck to strike the rear of a Subaru Forester stopped in front of it at the traffic light.

Camilo-Torres was taken to Albany Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Two passengers in the box truck were taken to hospitals with minor injuries.

The driver of the Subaru, age 25 of Cohoes, was not injured.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Cambridge man, 41, a suspect in sex abuse GREENWICH -- A Washington County man was charged with predatory sexual assault against a child after an investigation by the Hoosick Falls police and State Police.

State Police said the 41-year-old Cambridge man sexually abused three children, all under the age of 11. Police believe the abuse happened more than a decade ago at the man’s home. He was also charged with sexual abuse. He was arraigned in Washington County’s centralized arraignment and sent to the county jail.

Police are investigating the possibility of more victims. The man had lived in Bennington, Vermont and Sanford, Maine. Anyone with additional information is asked to call State Police at 518-583-7000 or the Hoosick Falls Police Department at 518-6867900.

Police: Argyle man had machine gun, ammo ALBANY -- A Washington County man was charged Thursday in a criminal complaint with possession of a machine gun and possessing ammu-

nition as a felon.

The 34-year-old Argyle man had the machine gun as well as the ammunition at his home, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.

Police also found other firearms and ammunition at his home. He has a prior felony conviction for illegal weapons possession as a user of a controlled substance. The defendant appeared before a U.S. Magistrate on Friday and was ordered detained.

Bail set in Saratoga shots-fired case SARATOGA SPRINGS -- The Albany man arrested on Wednesday for allegedly shooting a gun at the top of Caroline Street on Broadway on June 26 was arraigned in Saratoga County Court on Friday, Saratoga Springs police said.

Charged with criminal possession of a loaded weapon and reckless endangerment, both felonies, the 23-year-old’s bail was set at $50,000, police said.

County District Attorney Karen Heggen said he was sent to Saratoga County jail in lieu of bail. A stabbing has been connected to the same incident but so far no one has been charged with that attack.

Motorcyclist killed in Adirondacks crash LONG LAKE -- A 58-year-old motorcyclist died Wednesday when his bike went off the road and hit guide wires in the town of Long Lake, State Police said.

Steven J. Lacrosse, of Canandaigua, was riding north on Route 30 when his motorcycle ran off the shoulder as it rounded a curve and hit the guide wires, troopers said.

Lacrosse was thrown from the bike and pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash happened near South Pond in the

town.

The crash remains under investigation.

Unlawful surveillance alleged at hotel BETHLEHEM -- An Albany man was charged with felony unlawful surveillance after he allegedly put a video camera beneath the door of a hotel room.

Town police were called to the Comfort Inn around 2 a.m. Friday and were told the man was the hotel night clerk. He allegedly tried to slip the device under the door of a room that was occupied by a woman.

The man was released with an appearance ticket.

Convicted murderer sentenced to prison in weapon case ALBANY -- A 55-yearold Troy man, who previously was convicted of murder, was sentenced in U.S. District Court Thursday to 51 months in federal prison for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Anthony A. Parker in his guilty plea admitted that while working as a driver at the Federal Express distribution center in Menands he took a package from a conveyor belt that was addressed to a Capital Region gun store, the U.S. Attorney’s Office FBI Albany field office and State Police said.

The package contained a Ruger 57 5.7 x 28mm caliber semi-automatic pistol and two magazines, authorities said. Parker later hid the pistol and magazines at his Troy home.

Parker had served 17-years in state prison for a 1984 conviction for second-degree murder in the Bronx, according to state prison records. Parker has been in custody since his arrest on a federal com-

plaint on May 13, 2020.

Man hospitalized after Troy shooting TROY -- A man was shot in the chest Tuesday night, police said.

The man is expected to recover from the 8:30 p.m. shooting at the intersection of Glen and Seventh avenues, police said.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene. He was brought to a local hospital to undergo further care.

Evidence technicians were at the scene and detectives were following leads. So far, police have only a limited description of the shooter. They describe the victim as uncooperative.

Probation, fine for ‘delaying the mail’ SYRACUSE -- A postal carrier from Cobleskill was sentenced to 18 months of probation and a $1,000 fine after admitting he dumped thousands of pieces of mail in a field under a pile of discarded tires in Sharon Springs,

federal prosecutors said Wednesday.

Tanner Brown, 25, pleaded guilty earlier to a felony count of delaying the mail, according to acting U.S. Attorney Antoinette T. Bacon and Postal Service-Office of Inspector General Special Agent in Charge Matthew Modafferi.

Brown admitted that between Jan. 1 and July 24, 2019, while a Postal Service carrier, he dumped the 5,833 pieces of mail intended for Onondaga County recipients. When agents recovered the mail they found much of it was first-class mail and that most of it was wet, dirty or bug-covered.

The Postal Service eventually delivered as much of the mail as it could, and Brown is no longer employed by the Postal Service, authorities said.

Brown was also ordered to serve 100 hours of community service as part of his sentence, pronounced

by Chief U.S. District Judge Glenn T. Suddaby.

Brookside Visitors Recognize Family & Friends in New Exhibit BALLSTON SPA – When Jim Denison visited Brookside Museum on July 22, 2021, he never expected to see family. Nor, for that matter, did Janet and Jean Kussius.

Brookside’s brand new exhibit on Saratoga County country stores offers viewers a charming, and often surprising, glimpse into the not-too-distant past.

Mr. Denison, born in 1949, recognized his father, as well as a few other friends and family, in an enlarged cartoon entitled “Friday at the Four Corners.” Meanwhile, the Kussius sisters, who are twins born in 1942, identified a store their parents purchased back in 1953 (it closed in 1962). Just a few decades ago, the country store played a vital role in people’s lives, providing easy credit, sundry supplies, and a social gathering place. Though the sun has set on those days, the country store still looms large in our individual and collective memories. Many who visit the exhibit will learn about a bygone past, while some, like Jim, Janet, and Jean, will relive fond reminiscences.

“I am delighted at the connections people are making between their own experiences and our shared past,” notes exhibit curator and History Center Vice President Field Horne. “We work hard to bring history to life and to enlighten the lives of all who visit Brookside. When

people recognize family and friends in our exhibits, it only reinforces the need to preserve and teach the past.”

“The Country Store in Saratoga” is just one of four new exhibits carefully curated at Brookside Museum by the trustees and staff of the Saratoga County History Center. The other exhibits include “Century of Ice Cream! The Dake Family and Stewarts,” featuring never-before-seen pictures, business paraphernalia, and family mementos from the beloved Stewart’s brand, “The Social Life of Hats,” based on the innovative spring 2021 course at Skidmore College, and “Mystery Photographs from Eastern Saratoga,” which offers unexpected and puzzling snapshots of social associations, business clubs, and dance troupes.

The Saratoga County History Center is dedicated to preserving and sharing the diverse histories of Saratoga County. Previously focused on the Brookside Museum in Ballston Spa, the History Center now offers a wide variety of innovative, exciting, and educational programming online. Mohawk Hudson Chapter of the Antique Outboard Motor Club Inc. 17th Annual August Swap Meet CAPITAL DISTRICT – Current President Michael Glenn announces that the 17th Annual August Swap and

Formal Meet of the Chapter will be held this year at the Wildlife Sports and Educational Museum. The event is planned for August 21, 2020 and will be held on the grounds of the Wildlife Sports and Educational Museum on Route 30 in Vail Mills, New York. Attendees come from throughout the Northeast as well as local members and the general public is welcome to attend at no cost.

There is no admission fee and no fee to display/buy/sell/ trade.

The day is planned to begin at 9:00 AM as a casual open air event that is expected to last until 2:00 pm. The event includes the buying, selling and trading of antique and classic outboard motors, boats and related items from attendees/vendors. Additional vendors are welcome at no cost. The general public is welcome. There will be coffee and donuts available for a donation in the morning.

The swap meet is held in an Antiques Roadshow type atmosphere and interested parties can get parts, advice and resources for their old outboard motors and boats, as well as an outlet to bring their motors to put them in the hands of a collector who can restore it.

The Chapter, organized in March of 2005 has experienced growth over the last 17 years.
