CAPITAL DISTRICT CLEAN COMMUNITIES LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE www.capitalcleancommunities.org, the Capital District Clean Communities Coalition is excited to announce the launch of their new, dynamic and interactive website. The website provides information and resources to fleet managers and private consumers on alternative fuel and advanced vehicle technologies. Capital District Clean Communities is part of the Clean Cities initiative of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Vehicle Technologies Program. It is hosted by the Capital District Transportation Committee (CDTC) in Albany. The Clean Cities program marked a major milestone in 2013, celebrating 20 years of progress in cutting petroleum use in transportation. Through the work of local coalitions across the country, Clean Cities has worked for two decades to advance the deployment of alternative and renewable fuels, advanced vehicles, fuel economy improvements, idle-reduction measures, and new technologies as they emerge. Cumulatively, the program has displaced over 4 billion gallons of petroleum since its inception in 1993. “Clean Communities is a great program, and CDTC is proud to host these efforts. The growth in alternate fuel vehicles and alternate fuel technologies has been tremendous, and it will continue. Clean Communities plays a lead role in encouraging this growth by going right to the users of the technology, and providing them with up-to-date and practical assistance.” The new design of the website provides a more interactive experience for users looking to gain information on alternative fuels and advanced vehicle technologies. Not only does the website provide users with up-to-date coalition news and events, it also allows people to locate alternative fuel stations, compare vehicle costs, and connect fleet managers and private consumers with other tools that assist in petroleum reduction in the Capital Region. The new website includes a Project Gallery to showcase coalition members’ projects, links to alternative fuel funding opportunities and information on how to become a member. Clean Cities advances the nation’s environmental, economic, and energy security by supporting local actions to reduce petroleum use in transportation. The Capital District Clean Communities Coalition includes Albany, Columbia, Greene, Fulton, Montgomery, Otsego, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Warren and Washington counties. Coalition activities and outreach annually displace about 1 million gallons of petroleum in the Greater Capital Region.
