HOW TO EAT HEALTHY ON A BUDGET Whenever I talk to someone who is new to the concept of eating healthy, I am always confronted with “But it’s too expensive to eat healthy!” Well, I have to feed a family of four and I do this on a $150 budget each week. Here’s how: Let’s start with fruits and vegetables. Shop the freezer section of your local market. There is a huge selection of produce to be found here at a lower cost. Another plus is that this produce is packed at their peak of freshness, locking in their nutrients.

When you shop the fresh section, try to purchase what is in season. This produce will usually be on sale.

Next is protein. If you are a meat eater, I strongly urge you to look for meat raised without antibiotics. To keep costs down, trade in your chicken breasts for thighs and drumsticks (which contain a measly 1g more fat and provides more zinc and iron).

Also, add eggs into your repertoire. For $4, you can get a dozen of organic eggs; it is one of the most cost effective proteins out there. And trust me, go organic with your eggs and you’ll get more nutrients for your buck. As for beef and pork, look into buying straight from a local farmer. Buying in bulk will lower the price per pound. Additionally, a much cheaper option for protein is beans. Legumes are so versatile and can be used in exchange for meat in many recipes, such as in chili or on salads.

Lastly, eat whole grains. These are grains like barley, brown rice, quinoa, millet and faro. Loaded with B vitamins and other vitamins and minerals, these should replace any boxed and pre-flavored pasta or noodle dishes. They are inexpensive and easy to cook. Simmer in some stock (chicken, beef, or vegetable) and season with salt, pepper and parmesan cheese!

Now, you are probably saying to yourself “Okay, you told me how to eat healthy, but how do I AFFORD this?” Please take a look at your weekly shopping list and eliminate processed foods.

In their place, add in the good stuff. Do this slowly and eventually, the good stuff will take over for the bad stuff.

It’s all about choices and balance; if you make the right choices now, your health will reward you immensely.

MARINE CORPS PFC. MARTIN GRADUATES Marine Corps Pfc. Nicholas J. Martin, son of Jodie Martin of East Greenbush, N. Y., recently graduated from the Individual Material Readiness List (IMRL) Asset Management School, Marine Aviaition Training Support Squadron-1, Meridian, Miss.

IMRL Asset Management use logistical management techniques, supply procedures, technical publications, and automated data processing equipment to conduct, reconcile, and report IMRL assets inventories; acquire and dispose of IMRL assets; train subordinate IMRL asset managers, and conduct liaison with other Support Equipment Controlling Authorities.

Depending on the course of study, Marine Corps students attend classes that are six to nine weeks duration. All classes at the Marine schools are taught via the group-paced method.

Martin is a 2012 graduate of Columbia High School of East Greenbush, N. Y. and joined the Marine Corps in August 2012.

We began our regular monthly meeting with a moment of silence in remembrance of Archie Sherman. There are few people that have served their community more completely than Archie Sherman did. We thank the Sherman family for sharing Archie and his beloved Carolyn with us for so many years. He will be greatly missed.

We have held a series of recent meetings with the USEPA regarding issues and progress associated with the Dewey Loeffel Toxic Waste Site. There are new reports on the Town’s website regarding this project and a community meeting with EPA is upcoming in the spring.

By the time you read this article, the Burden Lake Sewer District construction bid notice will have been advertised and preparations for a spring start of the project will be well underway. Please be sure to visit our website for more information and updates on this project.

We are looking forward to the 2nd Annual Small Farm Animal Tailgate Sale to be sponsored by the Farm and Agriculture Preservation Committee on April 27th at the Highway Garage.

At our last meeting, we authorized the purchase and payment of a 2012 John Deere Wheel Loader for the Highway Department; authorized the transfer of the old sound system equipment to the Village of Nassau; appointed Ed Kunze to serve as a Wingman for the Highway Department; approved some additional work to complete the meeting room renovations utilizing a financial gift; authorized the application for grant funding to digitize Nassau’s government files and historic documents; authorized the requests for proposals to outline the boundaries of the western and northern property lines of the Highway Department property in advance of public trail development; and appointed Edward Wurzburg to assist with storm maintenance.

I’m also pleased to announce the completion of the Town’s filing of the State Comptroller’s Annual Financial Report. This document is available for review in hard copy or online.

The objective of the rally was to “inform and energize influential stakeholder teams” representing the 47 school districts in attendance. The keynote speaker of the event was Dr. Rick Timbs. He made a presentation that included a primer on “Combined Wealth Ratios”, spending just enough time on the subject to get everyone there to feel as though their district was not getting the funding they deserved while others were getting far more than they needed. One detail he failed to mention was that neither a district’s CWR nor spending levels have any correlation to educational outcomes. Dr. Timbs went on to entertain us with a story about how he got his 4th grade granddaughter to understand the difference between equal and equitable. He said he put a $1 bill under each of four cushions on his couch and asked Gracie if he had divided the money equally. She agreed. Then he asked her to imagine that the cushions were people, but that cushion number one was some poor homeless person, and the next was someone who had no job and I think the third had no home or job; but the fourth person he gave the dollar to was Justin Bieber. He asked his granddaughter if she still thought he had distributed the money fairly and she said no. She suggested he spread most of Bieber’s dollar among the rest and leave him with a penny. Sound like socialism? That’s the new plan? Tax the rich?

The reality of the economic problems we face are that the wealthier people of our school districts who feel they can afford to pay higher taxes have for decades voted for spending that the rest of the community cannot afford. THE BATTLE OF BELLTOP SCHOOL My previous article discussed the proposed closing of the Bloomingrove School as a part of the trend toward school centralization.

In 1938, a “battle” erupted concerning building a new building on the Belltop School site on Snyders Lake Road. The East Greenbush School District had obtained funds from the federal Public Works Administration to build three new schools: a high school in East Greenbush, a school in Nassau and a school to replace the 1866 Belltop School in North Greenbush.

With the funding approved and a site chosen, the project should proceed right? Well no, that’s when the battle started.

First the State Education Department said the Belltop location didn’t have enough land for a six room school. Since no other site was proposed the school district decided to go ahead with a smaller building on that site.

However Defreestville residents whose children would attend the school voted to insist the building be located on another property but within their hamlet. Ruling on an appeal, the State Board of Regents reversed the Education Department to the extent of approving a two room building and nothing more for the original Belltop site.

Local resident Charles Reynolds bought the building and moved the old school across the road to his property. Because of construction delays, students had to be bused to Green School three miles away which cost $6.45 a day. The solution was to lease back the old school house for $400 (Reynolds had only paid $100 for the building) until construction was finished.

There was one more problem to overcome before the project could become a reality. A Defreestville group petitioned the school board to demand another district vote for selection of a new site located in Defreestville. The school board rejected the petition partially because there was a real danger that the Federal Government would pull the promised funds and the construction proceeded on the original site. The cornerstone was laid in January 1940 and the new Belltop School was dedicated in June.

Coda: The name Belltop comes from the school bell which was purchased when the old building was built in 1866. It’s still on site there today.

RCHR AWARDED GRANT FUNDS TO ASSIST RENSSELAER COUNTY RESIDENTS Coming this spring, the Rensselaer County Housing Resources (RCHR), will again have grant funding available to assist local residents with obtaining and maintaining their homes. RCHR has been awarded funds under three government programs, providing grant monies which can be used for downpayment assistance for first-time homebuyers, home rehabilitation projects, and home modifications to improve accessibility for people with disabilities.

Under the Access to Home Program, income-eligible homeowners and renters in Rensselaer County may be able to receive grant funding to make enhancements to their homes in order to increase accessibility.

The Small Cities grant program can assist income-eligible firsttime home buyers with grants to be used for down payment and/or closing costs at the time of purchase.

She participates in Volleyball and Basketball here at Maple Hill. Outside of school Lauren volunteers with the Miracle League Basketball program for individuals with developmental disabilities. Lauren plans to go to college to study Psychology.

We received a letter from a parent commenting how Siobhan tried to help a new exchange student feel welcomed here at Maple Hill. Individuals still may be living up to resolutions they made in the beginning of the year. Oftentimes, plans to get fit are at the top of the list. People taking inventory of their personal health may want to take added precautions safeguarding the wellbeing of themselves and their families.

A life insurance policy can be a way to do just that.

Not everyone needs to purchase life insurance. There are a number of factors that come into play when deciding if a policy is right for you. A policy can be beneficial if a specific person is the breadwinner in the family, or his or her salary is heavily relied on to pay bills or college tuitions.

In the event of a person’s death, a life insurance policy can provide for funeral costs and also cover mortgage payments and other expenses. Choosing a policy can be difficult, but understanding life insurance is the key to knowing how much coverage to get and which policy works best for you.

Term Life Insurance According to State Farm Insurance, term life insurance provides death protection for a stated time period, or term. A person pays a fixed rate for a set amount of time. Should that period expire, coverage at the previous rate is no longer guaranteed and the client must either stop coverage or obtain further coverage with different payments and/or conditions.

Term life insurance is generally sought after for those on a limited budget because payments tend to be more affordable. It can serve as peace of mind during child-rearing years or up until the point when personal savings will cover any unforseen expenses at the time of death.

Depending on the insurance policy, the term can be for as little as 1 year to as many as 30 years. The premium will be more for a longer term because an older person is considered a greater risk factor than a younger one.

Individual insurance companies may vary their renewal policies and rate increases, so purchasers will have to research the affordability and practicality of taking out a short-term or long-term policy. Unless there is a history of illness in the family, a shorter term may suffice.

Permanent Life Insurance Permanent life insurance offers a premium payment that is the same over the entire life of the loan up until a person’s death. Once a person has paid all of the premiums, a cash reserve remains and the policy is still in effect.

Permanent life insurance is more expensive because an eventual payout is unavoidable.

Wherein term life insurance policies often lapse without a payout, the inevitability of death makes a permanent life insurance payout a sure thing. Therefore, people pay more to acquire this type of coverage.

There are different types of permanent life insurance: * Whole life: The cash reserve builds up after the premiums are paid, but the person has no control how that reserve is invested. * Variable life: Individuals are given the choice how to invest the cash reserve. The amount that will be available at the time of death is depends on how well the money was invested. * Universal life: Individuals have more control over the policy, being able to vary the amount of the premium by using part of the accumulated earnings to cover part of the premium cost.

Purchasers can also vary the amount of the death benefit. Flexibility comes with a higher price tag, however.

How Much Life Insurance Is Needed?

Many factors come into play when deciding how much insurance to purchase. Debts, dependents, other income, risk for illness, and other components should be considered. A general rule of thumb is to acquire a policy that pays between 5 and 10 times one’s annual salary. Therefore a person who makes $85,000 should get a policy between $425K and $850K to be safe.

Cost of Life Insurance Each company will have a different rate schedule and commissions paid to insurance agents.

There may be hidden fees that careless consumers are unaware of.

On average, a healthy 35-year-old man may pay $3,000 per year for a $300K whole life policy.

A term life insurance policy for the same amount could run $300 a year.

Depending on individual factors, purchasing life insurance is largely a personal choice. Advisors can shop around for life insurance policies and help educate a consumer on the ones that will be the best fit. Individuals should seek an advisor who does not work for a specific insurance company or receive commission for his/her recommendations.

Some of the most affordable policies are often provided through employer plans. Those shopping for insurance can make this the first leg of their research process.

HOW TO WRITE YOUR OWN LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT Few people, young or old, look forward to writing a will. A will is not an easy subject to broach, but it is important to have documents in place to ease the burden for family members.

When a person dies without a will, his or her assets might not go where he or she intended. In some instances, assets might go to the government. For parents who die before their children are grown, a will can also serve as a legal document indicating a plan for custody of the kids.

The will also can be typed or handwritten. Handwritten wills are called holographic wills and may not be recognized unless written during an emergency situation, such as a fatal illness.

Laws regarding wills vary based on where you live. Therefore, learn the legalities before preparing a will so you will have a document that holds up in a court of law and can be executed to your desires. Here is some of the basic information that may be included in your will. * Include your name, address, date of birth, and social security numbers if they will better help identify you should there be confusion. * State that you are of sound mind when writing this will and of contractual capacity. * Write a statement indicating that this will revokes all other wills that may have been executed before. * List the names and addresses of all of your children. If the children are minors, at this point you can also specify your wishes with regards to their guardianship. List the names and addresses of the people whom you wish to have custody of your children. * Appoint an executor or executrix to carry out the affairs of your estate and instructions specified in the will. This person typically must be over the age of 18. Select someone whom you trust to honor your wishes. * Indicate how you want the executor to handle your financial affairs, including paying taxes, funeral costs, final expenses, etc. At this point you also may want to spell out where you would like to be buried and any specific requests with regard to the funeral, viewing, and any otherfuneral-related details. * Indicate the executor has permission to sell your home and personal belongings that are not included in personal gifts to be distributed. * List any gifts you would like to be distributed to certain people.

This may be a doll collection to a daughter, coins to a son, china to an aunt, etc. * Specify the percentages of your assets to be distributed should the listed beneficiaries survive you. Maybe you want to divide your estate evenly between two children. If so, allocate 50 percent to one and 50 percent to the other. You may have more specific breakdowns. Should these people not survive you, you can establish an alternate or list nothing, in which case the assets will be put back into the general pot. * Include a residuary clause that states how to distribute any remaining assets. * State whether you want the executor to be reimbursed for any expenses that result from executing the will. * Indicate that you would like the executor to post bond as a form of insurance so that the executor can’t run off with the money for himself. * Name an alternative executor should the first pass away before executing the will or if he or she is unable to serve upon your death. * Sign the will in front of two or three witnesses (check what is required where you live) and a notary public. The witnesses cannot be anyone named in the will.

by Claire Everett This week was full of nail biting reminders of what it means to be a Warrior. Boys and girls basketball were the only teams to compete this week, and both teams competed in their first “sink or swim” games of the season.

The boys started their post-season on Wednesday, February 20th against Bishop Gibbons. Bishop Gibbons fought hard for the win, but AP refused to lose. The teams battled all the way to the last seconds, but AP earned the win, 54-49.

Congratulations to Myles Joyce, who scored 13 points, and Kenny Sears, who scored 11. After the win, the boy’s advanced to play Glens Falls on Sunday, February 24th on the Hudson Valley Community College floor. Again, Averill Park came out ready to prove their abilities. Unfortunately, despite their season-long efforts, the boys couldn’t win their way into the next round. The AP boy’s last game of the year ended, 61-48.

Congratulations to the boys on a great season, and good luck to the seniors in their future endeavors.

The Lady Warriors also had their first sectional game this week. On Saturday, the Lady Warriors took the floor against 6th seed Glens Falls. AP easily held the lead throughout the game and pulled out a first round victory, 59-48. Leading scorers were: Kelly Donnelly (21), and Lauren Van Roy (14). The ladies have moved on to the Final Four.

Averill Park track athletes are also still competing and I will let you know how they did in the State Qualifiers next week.

Some seasons have ended, while others keep going strong.

“A scholar athlete is someone who respects and follows directions, along with keeping themselves on top of school work,” says Jonathan Rodgers, a senior track member of Averill Park High School. This is Jon’s third year doing track and he throws shotput and discus. His close friend got him into it, and ever since, it has become one of his favorite things to do. Rodgers loves being able to hang out with his friends while also working hard towards breaking his PR (personal record). He also loves when he finds true competition at meets, because it drives him to work as hard as he possibly can. Jon is constantly working hard, not only during the season but in the off-season as well.

In the off-season, he likes to work out a few times a week and play football. Then, during the season, he practices five days a week while also lifting weights in his spare time. Last year, Jon placed first in the section for both shotput and discus, and this year he placed second for the same. When Rodgers isn’t in his track uniform, fiercely competing against another thrower, he’s working hard in the classroom. Jon has maintained a 90 GPA throughout his entire high school career. In the future, he would like to attend Springfield college and become an animator.

He would also like to continue with track and football. Rodgers finds a lot of inspiration from his parents and they have really inspired him to be the driven, hard working guy he is. Jon would like to thank Coach Keegan, Coach Gobel, Coach Huth, and his parents for all of their support over the years. We wish Jon the best of luck in his last year here at APHS and also for the future.

TEENAGE BASEBALL AT TWIN TOWN LITTLE LEAGUE Twin Town Little League is now offering baseball for players 12 & 13 years old through a new Intermediate Division. The Intermediate (50/70) Baseball Division, the first new program in Little League since 1999, bridges the transition from Little League (46/60) to Junior League Baseball on a full-size field (60/90). It is a league for 12-13 year-olds whose advanced skills permit rules that are closer to conventional baseball, such as leading off bases, pickoff attempts, etc. Registration is currently open to all capital district 13 year old players, and as of March 1st, registration will be open to all capital district 12 year old players.12 year old players must also register and play in their neighborhood Little League to be eligible to play in the Twin Town Intermediate Division.

Brunswick Girls Softball is registering girls who are 4-18 years old. Classie Lassie Girls Softball will be holding a final night of inperson registration on Thurs., February 28th from 6-8pm at the North Greenbush Town Offices (Annex), located on Main Ave. in Wynantskill. Recently Classie Lassies made a change to the age requirement to play softball. If your daughter WILL be 5 years old by August 31st of this year, they can now play with us at the 6U level, (T-Ball). Registration is $80 for 6U and 8U and $95 for all other age groups. The $20 late fee will be waived if your daughter falls within the new age range described above. E. GREENBUSH DEPT. FOR COMMUNITY & RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES The Town of East Greenbush Department for Community and Recreational Services in conjunction with Spare Time Lanes are happy to present the 2013 Spring After School Bowling Program. This program is open to 1st to 5th grade students at Genet and Red Mill Elementary Schools. Genet students will bowl on Mondays, March 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th, and April 8th.

The maximum number of registrations allowed is 64. Red Mill students will bowl on Wednesdays, March 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th and April 10th. The maximum number of registrations allowed is 64. This program includes five weeks of bowling, shoe rental, transportation to Spare Time, trophies, and a pizza party on the last day of bowling. Due to space restrictions, sessions will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

GREENBUSH SOCCER REGISTRATION OPEN Greenbush Soccer’s Spring rec program is for children ages 4 to 12. It is a non-competitive, fun soccer experience for boys and girls. As legislative representatives of District 2, including the towns of East Greenbush, North Greenbush and Poestenkill, we are happy to provide our constituents with a report on actions taken at the February 12, 2013 legislative meeting.

The meeting was an important one as we welcomed a new colleague, Kelly Hoffman, to serve as a member of the Legislature. Kelly succeeds Lou Desso, who left the Legislature last month to take a position with the county Department of Mental Health.

Kelly has years of public and community service. She was elected and serves as member of the North Greenbush Town Board, and prior to that, served as member of the Planning Board and Wynantskill School District School Board. She and her husband Tom are parents of two children and Kelly has years of experience with budgets and senior and youth services.

Legislator Fiacco renewed his call for a state review of chronic callers, persons on Medicaid who repeatedly call for costly ambulance rides for non-emergencies. In 2011, Leon presented information that some residents were calling for ambulance rides for headaches, hunger and foot pains. These calls unfairly cost taxpayers money and tie down valuable emergency resources.

We are hopeful the state will undertake a review and empower counties and municipalities to deal with this situation.

We also asked for state review of the way electronic benefit cards are used by welfare recipients. There have been numerous reports of fraud and abuse and believe additional safeguards may be necessary.

The legislative chambers were packed as Rensselaer County became the latest county to oppose the NY Safe Act and support the Second Amendment. A number of speakers spoke in opposition to the NY Safe Act and supported our legislative resolution on the issue. We thank the many residents who came out for the meeting.

Legislators have met recently with Hudson Valley Community College, who are experiencing budgetary issues due to a change in the state’s aid formula. We greatly value the contributions of HVCC and have resolved to keep working with the college to ensure educational excellence while safeguarding county taxpayers, who help sponsor the college.

The next meeting of the Rensselaer County Legislature is Tuesday, March 12, 2013. As legislative representatives of District 4, including the towns of Schodack, Nassau and Sand Lake, we are happy to provide residents with an update on actions taken at the February 12, 2013 legislative meeting.

The Legislature continued our effort to erase any fraud or corruption in social services and welfare. We approved a resolution asking for a state review of electronic benefits cards and a state review of chronic callers, persons who repeatedly call for ambulance rides for non-emergency situations.

Since the passage of the NY Safe Act, legislators have received many calls from residents concerned about the impact of the law. Residents are concerned with the impact of the legislation on law-abiding gun owners, and the fact the law was adopted with almost no public debate. Rensselaer County became the latest county to sponsor a resolution opposing the NY Safe Act and to ask for repeal of the legislation.

We thank residents who packed the legislative chambers at the February meeting to register concerns and comments regarding the NY Safe Act. The Legislature also welcomed Kelly Hoffman of North Greenbush to succeed Lou Desso as a member of the County Legislature. Lou recently resigned to accept a job with the Rensselaer County Department of Mental Health. Kelly is a member of the North Greenbush Town Board and also served as a member of the town Planning Board and was elected to the Wynantskill school district’s Board of Education.

Kelly has considerable experience with budgets and senior and youth services and we look forward to working with her during the coming months.

We were also excited to welcome members of the East Greenbush Blue Devils Pop Warner Football team upon a championship season. The team captured the 2012 Capital District Pop Warner championship with a victory over Columbia County.

The Legislature also welcomed the family of Lance Corporal Anthony Denier, a Mechanicville resident born in Troy tragically killed while serving with the U.S. Marines Corps. in Afghanistan.

Legislators approved a resolution mourning the passing of Donald Justus, a Castleton resident who was active in public and community service for decades in the village.

The next meeting of the Rensselaer County Legislature is Tuesday, March 12, 2013. “What if……….” by Ronald E. Berti It seems that everywhere I go in Town I am accosted by a resident who has a question about the proposed Community Center. I have yet to encounter a person who is dead-set against it. Your questions fall into several categories, but, far and away the most frequent question I get is: “Wouldn’t it be more profitable if the property were sold and returned to the tax rolls?”

That is not an easy question to answer because while the school is on the market for $1.7 Million Dollars, the property has not been divided into a separate deed, and as of this writing, no one has expressed an interest in buying it at any price!

Anyway, I did a little research; and here is what I discovered. In speaking to several Realtors, the consensus of opinion is that the property would not sell at half the price, or $850,000.00. Anyway, here is a schedule of Taxes that would be collected at various sale prices:

January 19th 2013, the Poestenkill Fire House hosted an installation banquet. The West Sand Lake Fire Company No.1 celebrated 140 years of serving the community.

Opening remarks were said by Kelly Paslow, Master of Ceremony Director and Bureau of Public Safety, who welcomed us warmly.

An invocation was shared by Rev. Dr. Patricia Bush of Salem United Methodist Church.

A beautiful roast beef dinner was had, served with mashed potatoes, beans and gravy. For dessert, vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate sauce, as well as a delicious chocolate fountain.

Mark Lacavita, Rensselaer City Battalion 30, announced the installation of officers. The Oath of Office of Fire Police was given

by Barbra Bitting, the town clerk of the Town of Sand Lake.

A special presentation was narrated by Kelly Paslow and Frank Gazley, depicting the 140 years of dedicated service. A nice display of pictures and helmets were brought out of the company’s museum.

Linda Ellis presented the Auxiliary Longevity Awards, Service Awards and the Dennis P. Sinnott Award; given to Shirley Pasquarillo. The firemen were presented Longevity Awards by President Dennis Sinnott and Chief Dan Hogle. The Attendance Awards and High Percentage Award were given by Dan Hartstein, Dave Hull, and Dan Hogle.

Afterward, closing remarks were said by Dan Hogle and the Fire District Commissioners, Chairman Sue Bell, C. Mike Deustch, Nancy Hartstein, Kristina Hogle and Lloyd Fox. A benediction was said and there was dancing until midnight, music was played by Ultimate Entertainment.

Well, as you can see, the closer you get to reality, the tax return is less. Currently, with the costs of electricity, fuel and other standard maintenance, it is costing the School District between $80,000 and $100,000 a year to maintain the empty building.

This is the third year of vacancy. Therefore, the School District has invested between $240,000 and $300,000 in the property and neither they nor the Town nor the residents of the School District has gotten any benefit from those funds.

Let’s assume it were to be sold at $850,000 this Spring, as unrealistic as that may be. The School District would receive $7,156.75 in taxes a year. At that rate, it would take over 33 YEARS to recoup the minimum estimate of $240,000 and almost 42 YEARS to recoup the $300,000 maintenance estimate. Double the recovery time for a more reasonable sale price of $425,000 if completed by this June.

So, what are we going to do? We have all paid for this building once. Are we going to pay for it again? And Again! And Again ad infinitum. We the people of the School District can get a great and varied benefit for its transition to community use. These are questions that our Representatives on the School Board and Town Board must wrestle with to find a way of making this work. However, they must have the desire to negotiate in good faith toward a common end that benefits one and all and not just go through the motions highlighting real or artificial obstacles so as to satisfy a preconceived opinion.

SHERIFF MAHAR ANNOUNCES PROMOTION OF OFFICERS

EGCSD TO HOLD 6-HOUR INS./POINT RED. & 5-HOUR PRE-LICENSING CLASSES The East Greenbush Central School District Continuing Education Program announces its next Six-Hour Point/ Insurance Reduction Class. This Course is sponsored

by Driver Training Associates and the Hank Wysocki Agency. The class will be held at Columbia High School, 962 Luther Rd, East Greenbush in room S314 on Saturday, March 9th, from 9:00am – 3:30pm. You will need to bring a check for $40.00 made payable to EGCSD Continuing Education along with your driver’s license or learner’s permit and a pen or pencil.

There will be a 30 minute break, please bring your lunch.

The Five Hour Pre-Licensing Course is required before an appointment for a road test may be scheduled. The next class will be held on Thursday, March 21st and Thursday, March 28th, from 6:00 – 8:30pm at Columbia High School, 962 Luther Rd, East Greenbush in room S205. At the first class, you will need to bring a check for $35.00 made payable to EGCSD Continuing Education along with your learner’s permit and a pen or pencil.
