Today is the 21st edition of The Shoot, marking another incredible milestone for our event. Over the past two decades, you have helped raise over £4 million for charities that touch countless lives in our community. Your contributions are much appreciated and have driven remarkable achievements.
One of the charities you have supported is Seamab. Our partnership began in 2017, when the idea of a much-needed new school was no more than a distant aspiration. Chris Stewart, who has been a key member of The Shoot family for
many years, was appointed Chairman of Seamab and, with his incredible drive and enthusiasm, steered the project forward. Construction began this summer, with The Shoot Charitable Trust as a major donor and many among you privately supporting the project - a testament to the incredible spin off The Shoot can have. It’s something for all of us to take pride in and reflect on the substantial impact we’ve collectively made.
The Shoot has become a much-loved and eagerly awaited event for everyone involved, and once again, we are at capacity, welcoming friends old and new, from near and far afield. As ever, you have our heartfelt thanks for your unceasing enthusiasm. The Shoot is quite literally your event where a shared joy for competition, camaraderie and generosity makes for a truly special day. Now, get ready to take aim, have fun, and make a difference. Here’s to another unforgettable year at The Shoot!

This year, we are proudly supporting three extraordinary charities, each embodying stories of care, dedication, and success within our community. Maggie’s provides crucial support to individuals confronting the challenges of cancer. Seamab tirelessly advocates for and nurtures neglected and abused children. JDRF is pioneering life-changing research for those
battling type 1 diabetes, a relentless lifelong condition. Our long-standing commitment to these organisations has allowed us to witness firsthand the powerful impact of our contributions. The personal connections between these charities and our guests at The Shoot also deepen the significance of our fundraising efforts. We encourage you to give generously.
Maggie’s is here for anyone with cancer and all the people they love. Built in the grounds of NHS hospitals, Maggie’s centres are warm and welcoming places, with expert staff on hand to offer support, information and practical advice. The first centre opened in 1996 in Edinburgh. There are now 24 centres and the ambition is to have a Maggie’s at every NHS cancer centre across the UK. Maggie’s is a charity that provides space for expert cancer support, for someone to just listen and for family and friends too.
A cancer diagnosis is traumatising, and the initial clinical plans provided by doctors can feel so overwhelming. Maggie’s offers a haven of calm and reassurance where patients and their families can start to make sense of everything, both practically and emotionally. The support Maggie’s provides is unique and truly invaluable. - Fay Bancewicz
Seamab provides care and education to some of Scotland’s most vulnerable children aged between 5 and 18 years and offers a place of safety for children that may have experienced significant neglect, physical, emotional and/or sexual abuse. Built 40 years ago as a residential property, Seamab’s current school is not an effective learning environment. There is no gymnasium, assembly or dining space; classrooms are
cramped, with poor air and light quality. The ageing building is difficult and costly to maintain. Through the exciting £5.5m ‘Building our Future’ project Seamab will create a new fit-for-purpose school to provide a stimulating environment where the children can recover, learn and grow. Work has now commenced on the new school, with Perth based contractor Algo carrying out the build. The new school is due to be finished by August 2025 and will be a physical launchpad for children to believe in their potential and build a future which once might never have been imaginable to them.
It’s incredibly motivating to see the foundations of Seamab’s new school taking shape and to know that The Shoot has made a substantial contribution to making this vision a reality. As a former teacher, I know only too well how important it is to build and equip a school to suit the needs of the pupils and I’m delighted that we’re able to help make a meaningful difference in their lives.
- Willie Allan MBE
Scotland has the world’s third-highest incidence of type 1 diabetes with around 35,000 people living with the autoimmune condition. Rates are rising rapidly, particularly in children aged between five and nine, with over a thousand Scots diagnosed with type 1 every year. JDRF is the type 1 diabetes research charity, funding innovative global research from pioneering biology studies to exciting clinical trials. JDRF-funded researchers at universities across Scotland are tackling crucial challenges in type 1 research including improving islet transplants and testing drugs for people with type 1 and heart failure. Our funds will support their research, capitalising on Scotland’s world-leading scientists to improve the lives of people with type 1 and one day eradicate it for good. In her JDRF-funded project at the University of Edinburgh, Professor Shareen Forbes is investigating whether islet transplant outcomes can be improved by giving immune cells called macrophages alongside islets. She also hopes this technique could reduce the dose of anti-rejection drugs that people who have islet transplants need to take.
I had the privilege of visiting Professor Shareen Forbes and her research team earlier this year. Witnessing the advances being made right on our doorstep and seeing first-hand the unwavering dedication of the doctors dedicated to finding a cure for type 1 diabetes was truly inspirational. - Gerard Eadie CBE

As your guide through today’s entertainment, I’m here to ensure you have a blast while supporting incredible causes. Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Why should I bid on these items? Do I really need a life-sized llama

Your heart races, the adrenaline pumps, and before you know it, you’re bidding for that luxury yacht experience. But just think, your Instagram post from the Med will say, “I did this all for charity”.
Seriously though, every bid you make, big or small, counts towards something amazing, and as your auctioneer, I value your participation most. I promise to keep things lively. We’ll have a few laughs, some friendly banter, and I might even throw in a few jokes to sweeten the deal.
So, bid what you can, laugh out loud, and let’s make some memories!
Willie Allan MBE MC & Auctioneer

The remarkable achievements and unique style of Sherree Valentine-Daines have earned her an unrivalled reputation in the international art world, where she is widely regarded as ‘the face of Modern British Impressionism’. During the course of the
afternoon at The Shoot, Sherree will paint a shooting scene, which will then be finished in a hand painted, gilded beechwood frame and auctioned at the event, making a wonderful investment piece.
A renowned British contemporary artist, in 2016 Sherree was commissioned by the Royal Household to paint their 90th birthday gift for Her Majesty the Queen. She was then invited to attend a private reception at Windsor Castle where the painting was presented to Her Majesty. She went on to paint Her Majesty on two other occasions and, in addition to her portraits of royal figures, Sherree has painted many significant public figures including Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Sir John Major, Sir Michael Parkinson, Joanna Lumley and Sebastian Coe (Lord Coe). In 2003 she was appointed Official Artist to the Rugby World Cup and among her work, she painted portraits of Jonny Wilkinson and Martin Johnson. Sherree has painted for many years at Henley and Royal Ascot, and remains the only artist to receive an invitation to paint in Ascot’s Royal Enclosure.
This fabulous prize is sure to be a stunning painting, which can be enjoyed and cherished for years to come.
Norfolk-based artist David Meredith began his career as an apprentice model-maker in the pewter industry, working with jewellery and giftware. Within two years he had become head sculptor at Alchemy Carta, quickly moving on to start up as a sculptor of his own work. Having lived in Africa, Asia and the USA, he has taken inspiration from his time spent in each continent, all of which has helped to shape his work in both realistic and abstract ways. His subject focus in recent years has been wildlife, mainly in his chosen medium of bronze. David’s work can be found in galleries throughout the UK and America and, as a regular exhibitor at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, he has an array of customers including Royalty from the UK and overseas.
The Shoot is delighted to auction this stunning bronze sculpture of an otter, the last one available from a limited edition of just eight. This hugely collectable piece has been sculpted by David, then hot cast at the foundry in bronze, where it is hand finished using traditional patina methods to create the rich depth of colour to bring the spectacle and grace of a swimming otter to life. At 162cm in height, it would be a real talking point in any home or garden. A fabulous investment to be enjoyed for years to come.

Then it’s back out for the afternoon drives, finishing with a chance to sample a few nips from Gerard’s extensive whisky collection back in “the howff”. Partners are welcome to join the shoot or they may prefer to arrive late afternoon, perfect timing for Champagne and canapés, and a pre-dinner cookery demonstration from Nick.

The silent auction will be open throughout the afternoon using an electronic bidding system. The current highest bidder for each lot will be displayed on the plasma screens around the marquee and on the tablets on your table. Step one:
Search for the item you wish to bid for by typing in the Lot Number in the search bar or by scrolling through the tablet by category or by guide price.
Step two:
Simply tap ‘Place Bid’ and then select your name from the list. The names of all the guests at your table should appear on your tablet, however if your name is missing please follow the instructions to create a user or alert one of the Team Hosts.
You will be prompted to create a four digit pin number which you will then use each time you bid.
You will also be asked to enter a mobile number and email address. These will only be used to make contact with you after the event if your bid has been successful and not for any other purpose.
Step three:
Enter the amount you would like to bid then tap ‘Confirm’. You can opt to make your bid ‘Anonymous’ at this stage if you don’t want your name to appear on the plasma screens. You will be informed if your bid has been successful or if you need to raise your bid via a message that will appear on the tablet.
After you place your bid, you will be given the option to enter a ‘Maximum Bid Amount’. This is a great way of ensuring you don’t miss out on auction lots you really want. If you choose this option, the system will automatically bid for you up to this amount each time you are outbid.
To make sure you don’t miss out on the items you want, keep an eye on the plasma screens to make sure you’re still the highest bidder.

Donated by David Smith RSW
David Smith is a Scottish contemporary plein air landscape artist, with the palette and inspiration for his work taken from the seaboard and landscape of his home country. Although predominantly a self-taught artist, he has studied at various colleges including the Glasgow Print Studio, Glasgow College of Building and Printing, Glasgow School of Art and Latrobe University, Melbourne, Australia. A past member and President of The Glasgow Group of Artists, he was elected a member of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour (RSW) in 2011 and member of RSW council in 2013. His annual exhibitions have won various prestigious awards and his distinctive landscapes are widely collected at home and abroad.
Smith gets most of his inspiration from the Fife coast. For this stunning oil on canvas, ‘East Neuk, Trawlers’, he began by working from sketchbook studies on sight using charcoal, pencil and oil pastels, getting down as much detail as possible. The confusion and colours of the pots and creels caught his eye and suited perfectly his style of contemporary painting, which has been described as painterly and semi abstract. Working from his sketches in the studio using a warm palette, primarily of ochres, greens and turquoise he applied the oil paint thickly with large brushes, using glazing mediums and other techniques to create colour and depth. Presented in a simple, modern, hand finished bespoke frame, finished size is 48”x48”.

One of the highest profile artists in the country, Scouller has had sell out shows at the Portland Gallery in London, Open Eye Gallery, Edinburgh and The Roger Billcliffe Gallery in Glasgow. ‘Snow Moon’ was painted ‘en plain air’ in an area of the artist’s garden on a beautiful frosty winter’s day. It is a tight parkland course, with the 3000-year-old Standing Stanes towering 14 feet above the 2nd fairway. This four ball is to be taken with 12 months.
Surrounded by history, Scotscraig Golf Club in Tayport was founded in 1817 by some members of the St Andrews Society of Golfers (now R&A) who wished to play more golf than the society afforded them. A unique mix of heathland and links, the course was designed under the guidance of Tom Morris and James Braid, and has hosted the Final Qualifying for The Open Championship on many occasions. Scotscraig is delighted to offer a four ball to be taken within the next 12 months.
