Crossroads Courier

An older man, living alone, decided he wanted to add a pet companion to his life. After thinking long and hard about the decision, he buys a parrot and brings it home. However, the parrot almost immediately starts insulting the older man and gets really rude. In a moment of frustration, the man picks up the parrot and tosses it into the freezer to teach it a lesson. But when the bird stops squawking, the man panics and opens the freezer. The parrot walks out, looks up at the man, and says, “I apologize for offending you, and I humbly ask your forgiveness.” The man replies, “Well, thank you. I forgive you, and I’m sorry too.” The parrot then says, “If you don’t mind my asking… what’d the chicken do?”

Occasions Who’s your best friend?

A lot of people at Crossroads, Northglenn say it’s “Tashi” or it’s “Jackson.” Or both! Tashi is a seven year-old Lhasa-apso (LhasaPoo to some). Marla Kalin, our Activities Director, is Tashi’s mom and brings him with her to work regularly. Jackson, a four-yearold German Shepherd, once a stray, has endeared himself to residents as the “Gentle Giant.” Jackson’s mom is Diana Morefield, Marketing and Admissions director at Northglenn. Crossroads at Northglenn welcomes pets as visitors, like Tashi and Jackson, or as full-time companions. Residents who can care for their animals are allowed one dog or one cat. For the others, Tashi and Jackson do the regular rounds, bringing smiles, joy, and comfort. Tashi gives the residents “high-fives” for treats, rolls over and gives kisses. He has even helped residents and their families transition during times of grief, sitting at the bedside, or snuggling alongside. Residents don’t miss Diana when she is out and about, but if Jackson isn’t around, that’s the first question: “Where is Jackson?” Jackson, when he isn’t helping in the garden, can be heard roaming the halls with squeak toys the residents have given him. He is also proud to be known as the Sheriff of Northglenn.
