The Artists Among Us

Have you seen our Art Studio? Some call it the Salon. Julie Allen, our stylist, has been an incredible part of the Crossroads at Lakewood family since 2021. With her remarkable talent and warm spirit, she has taken on the essential role of not only enhancing the beauty of our residents but also lifting their spirits and brightening their days.

Julie’s connection to our community runs deep—she is the sister of Rudy, who was one of the best maintenance team members we’ve ever had. Rudy’s dedication and kindness left a lasting legacy here at Crossroads, and Julie carries that same spirit of care and compassion. In many ways, her work is a tribute to him and their shared love of helping others.

Each week, Julie brings her magic to our community, offering our residents the joy and confidence that comes with a fresh haircut or a styled look. She takes the time to connect with each resident, ensuring they feel seen, valued, and cared for during their time in her chair.

We are deeply grateful for Julie’s unwavering commitment to our residents. Her presence not only reminds us of the lasting impact of her brother Rudy but also serves as a beautiful example of the power of kindness, care, and human connection.

Thank you, Julie, for being such a treasured part of Crossroads at Lakewood.

Update from Maranatha

In response to Cuba’s current economic crisis, Maranatha Volunteers International had temporarily deviated from its construction emphasis and instead focused on shipping basic necessities, like food and medicine, to the Adventist Church there. These efforts are more vital than ever, in light of Hurricane Rafael, power outages, and a 6.8 magnitude earthquake that have worsened the nation’s outlook exponentially. After being repeatedly postponed by logistical hindrances, however, crews finally began construction of the Nuevitas Church. “We’re excited to see the Nuevitas project underway,” said Maranatha’s chief operating offi Kenneth Weiss. “It represents the passion of donors and the hard work of team members who had to navigate the setbacks caused by Cuba’s unfortunate economic situation.” To learn more about Maranatha, scan this code, go to www
