Slowing Down

There’s something about autumn that mirrors the beauty of caregiving in a memory care community like ours here at Crossroads. As the leaves fall and the air turns crisp, we are reminded that life moves in cycles—some clearer than others. Watching caregivers work with patience and warmth during this season feels like witnessing nature’s own caretaking. Just as the trees prepare for winter, caregivers prepare their residents for each day, guiding them gently through familiar routines.

It’s in the small acts—the way they calmly soothe when confusion sets in, or the thoughtful touch of placing a favorite blanket over a resident’s shoulders— that gratitude blooms. Caregiving, like autumn, is a reminder that there’s grace in slowing down, in tending to those who need extra care. Observing this thoughtful support brings a deep sense of appreciation, like the quiet beauty of the season. As the days grow shorter, the light of such compassion only seems to grow brighter, a true gift in every moment.

Update from Maranatha

Christmas in Zambia!

Zambia has long been a beautiful place for tourists to visit, with natural sights and wonders pervading the country. Maranatha Volunteer’s family project is in Zambia during the Christmas and New Year holiday. It is a way for you to help lay block walls for new classrooms and make memories with your family that last a lifetime. The Adventist Church community in south Zambia asked Maranatha for help with the Sala Adventist School located 30 miles outside of Lusaka. Maranatha has committed to constructing classroom buildings, staff housing and a church. You now can be part of that mission too. Find out how by scanning this code.

A Number 10

Bill and Dan were sitting on a park bench taking in the fall colors.

Bill exclaimed, “Ah, October! Almost time for Halloween. This season reminds me of how I met my wife.”

Dan replied, “I don’t know that story.”

Bill continued, “I went to a costume party and saw her across the room. Standing there tall and gorgeous next to her friend. They’d come to the party together dressed as the number ten. That’s when I knew, she was the one.”
