Occasions Thankfulness

On the eleventh hour of November 11th, 1918, an armistice was signed signifying the end of WWI. This day would come to be known as Veterans Day, to honor those who have served in every branch of the armed forces.

Every war and conflict since that day has seen the sacrifice and loss of thousands of men and women. Through WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iraq, and Afghanistan, our country is home to so many brave souls. Crossroads’ small corner of the world is home to some of our brothers and sisters in arms as well.

So, on November 11th this year, help us honor the finest among us. “Thank you’s” and shaking hands in gratitude go a long way. Let us not forget those who gave all of themselves and for the blessed souls who never made it home.

We had a spooktacular October celebrating many birthdays, having glorious entertainment from professionals as well as family members and celebrating fun holidays such as Halloween.

GIFT TO CUBA Here in the U.S., we have experienced the impact of our economy tipped off balance by supply chain problems and the resulting higher prices and lack of some goods. But imagine those issues PLUS no food on the shelves, no value at all in your currency, and no federal relief check to bail you out. This is a short description of the challenges facing Cuba and the Cuban people.

In response, the Cuban government has opened a window for relief aid to flow into this island nation by suspending tariffs on medicines, food, cleaning products, and personal care items through the end of the year. Maranatha Volunteers International has had a longstanding connection with the people of Cuba and their leaders, completing more than 200 church construction and renovation projects in Cuba.

Maranatha has committed to help Cuba now in their time of need by purchasing and organizing shipping containers filled with the much needed supplies.

At least two containers will be shipped from Panama to Havana. More containers will be organized as donations come in. While Maranatha’s focus is to construct schools, churches, and water wells around the world, the organization has provided relief at times, when needed.
