A Day at a Time!

Did you make a resolution for 2023? How’s that going? When you get to be our age, it seems to be a better idea to make today the day that counts. Why worry about March or June. It’s January. And right now is what matters.

If you made a grand resolution for 2023, no problem. Write it down and tape it where you’ll see it. But you may be better off just making a simple resolution for the week.

Maybe it is to schedule an appointment you’ve been putting off. Perhaps it is to skip dessert for a single night. By taking a day at a time, you can focus on building healthy patterns of behavior and celebrate it right away!

Build your resolve on that which you are already good at doing. And do it the SMART way. Make sure it is something Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-bound. Avoid the broad stroke resolve to, say, “eat healthier.” Instead, make a resolve today to “eat a vegetable or a piece of fruit.” Your days will be richer and you’ll find happiness in your accomplishments.

Happy New Year friends! Enjoy living and being SMART today!

Update from Maranatha

ULTIMATE WORKOUT – DECADE #4

For three decades, Maranatha’s annual mission trip for teenagers, Ultimate Workout, has been the perfect proving ground for young people looking to test their physical and spiritual muscles. It’s an international adventure that takes young people out of their comfort zone together, like only overseas service can. Then in 2020, the COVID pandemic hit, ending the 30-year run of these international projects. After hosting a virtual event in 2020 and a stateside project in Arizona in 2021, leaders shifted their focus to the return of an overseas project in Tacna, Peru, in 2022. Conditions in Peru were improving, but would teens and parents be ready for international travel? Would anyone sign up? Leadership didn’t know what to expect. Who knew of the impending political turmoil? In the latest episode of our TV program, “Maranatha Mission Stories,” Ultimate Workout returns overseas for the first time in three years. Or will they? Stay tuned. www.maranatha.org

TimeLautogh

A businessman boarded an international flight and found a fancy young woman seated next to him wearing a large diamond ring. During the flight, he asked her about the ring. “It is the Klopman diamond, but it comes with a terrible curse,” she said. “What’s the curse,” he asked. She replied, “Mr. Klopman.”
