Welcome Teresa, Jeff, and Dennis!
We welcome three new people to our Delta staff. Teresa Menzel, our new Dietary Director, comes to us from Safeway. She learned her culinary skills at various restaurants and as a kitchen manager at Basalt schools. She has a passion for food, flowers, gardening, and people. She cannot wait for you to try her new recipes.
Jeff Miller is Delta’s new Maintenance Director. He is an electrical engineer and most recently maintained an Assisted Living community in Grand Junction. Jeff once bowled professionally, has started and sold businesses in Florida and Colorado and has sailed around the world. For our veterans, you will be interested to know that Jeff designed the power supply in the Tomahawk missile. Jeff and his wife have raised four children who are living and working on the Western Slope.
Dennis Rhodes joins Crossroads at Delta as our Executive Director. Dennis has deep roots in our Western Slope community and comes to us with a bright and varied background in senior living. Dennis has held roles as a Certified Nurses Aide, Assisted Living Director, and most recently was the Director of Social Services at a local skilled nursing facility. He and his wife just celebrated the birth of their daughter. Dennis also has an eight-year-old son, and two dogs named Rastus and Max.
His passion for senior living communities comes from the desire to care for those that care for others, and to help seniors lead an enriched life. He enjoys all things outdoors such camping, fishing, hiking, and bicycling. Dennis also enjoys traveling with his family. Dennis considers himself a transformative leader that builds community and fosters strong teams.
We can’t wait to know you.

Update from Maranatha

MARANATHA: BUILT ON VOLUNTEER SUPPORT

Maranatha Volunteers International, as the name implies, is an organization built on volunteer support. Volunteer engagement took a hit during the global pandemic. For 2023, volunteer numbers are looking up. There have been a total of 1,926 volunteers yearto-date, indicating that Maranatha is on track to meet its year-end projection of 2,300.
In 2022 there were 28 volunteer trips. In contrast, 2023 has already seen 43 trips, with 13 more scheduled before year’s end. These figures mark a joyous return to pre-pandemic norms and is evidence of Maranatha’s enthusiastically resilient volunteer base.

“To see volunteers finally coming back to the field in large numbers in 2023 is really exciting because our mission is fully accomplished only with them and through each of them,” says Maranatha’s Vice President for Volunteer Services, Lisandro Staut.
Maranatha Volunteers International, a non-profit, Christian organization, mobilizes volunteers to build churches, schools, water wells, and other urgently needed structures around the world. Since 1969, Maranatha has constructed more than 14,000 structures and more than 2,200 water wells in nearly 90 countries around the worldTo learn more, scan this code, go to www.maranatha.org or visit the Maranatha channel.

Labor Day Funnies
My wife came home from work yesterday and was raging about her boss. She said to me, “I’m never going to work for that man again!”
I asked her, “Why, what did he say to you?”
She said, “You’re fired.”
Pastimes

My boss made me go into the office on Labor Day. Halfway through the day, he came in to check up on me and caught me having a beer.
He said to me, “You can’t drink while you’re working.”
I said, “Oh, don’t worry – I’m not working.”

The Labor Day holiday means I get my unemployment check a day late.
