Occasions Tannis Daguerre

For Tannis Daguerre, life at Crossroads is about being home. Tannis joined our campus in late November as the Director of Marketing and Admissions. Her grandmother, Pete, suffered from multiple sclerosis, and spent a great deal of time being cared for in a nursing home. This motivated Tannis to help people in need of care find a home, and not just a place that felt like a hospital.

Tannis began her career as a Personal Care Provider for a Home Care company eventually working her way into management. She has worked in a variety of roles and expands her knowledge of health care at every opportunity. She is driven by this one goal: to ensure our residents have the best care possible.

You’ll discover that Tannis is a down to earth, outdoorsy person who enjoys spending time with her children and her partner. Expect her to disappear from time to time as she heads to Oregon or Alaska (at least once a year) to fish Salmon. She enjoys hiking, so don’t be afraid to ask her if she has time to join you for a walk. She may just take you up on it.

I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone happy holidays and hope that you stay safe during these difficult times. With the rise of a new COVID variant and more looming restrictions, I want to assure you that we are complying with all state and local guidance in order to keep our community safe.

Update from Maranatha Despite the unpredictability of international travel, a group of volunteers made their way to Peru in November to help in the building of a large school complex in the town of Ica. The La Tinguiña Adventist school, when completed, will have 8 classrooms, administrative offices, restrooms and a large auditorium for indoor sports and convocations. Twenty-nine volunteers joined Maranatha’s local team of construction workers to lay block and rebar on this massive school building.

Some volunteers also provided children’s programs for the community while others created a makeshift eyeglass clinic where community members could come, try on, and choose donated reading glasses.

Slow-Cooker Spinach Artichoke Dip This creamy, crowd-pleasing dip comes together with ease in your crock pot. Leave it in the slow cooker all party long to keep it warm for serving with perfect, melty cheese in every bite. Whole-wheat bread and raw veggie dippers allow you to dig in without the guilt.

INGREDIENTS 1 (16 ounce) bag frozen chopped spinach, thawed, and squeezed dry 1 (14 ounce) can artichoke hearts, drained and chopped 8 ounces reduced-fat cream cheese, cut into cubes 8 ounces reduced-fat sour cream ½ cup shredded whole-milk mozzarella cheese ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese ½ teaspoon garlic powder

DIRECTIONS

1. Combine spinach, artichoke hearts, cream cheese, sour cream, mozzarella, Parmesan, garlic powder, crushed red pepper, salt and pepper in a 4-quart slow cooker.

2. Cook on High for 2 hours. Stir and serve with sliced vegetables and baguette slices.
