Behaviour Team Update
During January and February we are lucky enough to have secured 4 workshops with Ash Dickinson! There is no need for me to introduce him as he introduces himself brilliantly. He says: “I run poetry workshops in schools. I'm one of the most in-demand poets in education, and not just in the UK- I was flown to Spain and Jordan to spread tub-thumping poetic zeal on the continent! I’m a multiple slam champion (including BBC Radio); have performed in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany and I have headlined many shows and festivals throughout the UK.”
A select group of A2E students have already been signed up for the workshops but if you fancy coming along for a look, or even to participate yourself, come and see me as soon as possible.
National Citizen Service-
Year 11’s have been offered the
exciting opportunity to take part in this summer’s National Citizen Service (NCS) programme; delivered locally by Norwich City’s Community Foundation (CSF). Information was presented in a recent assembly. The programme is a government initiative that boosts university applications and personal skills and involves residential trips and voluntary work in the community.
Currently, our behaviour policy is that when a student is sent out of a lesson to the referral point, an after-school detention for 30 minutes will be set for the next available Monday. This has now changed to the after-school detention being set for the following day (after students are sent to referral point), for 30 minutes with the Behaviour Team. This will ensure an immediate consequence. Parents/carers will be notified via text/phone call if their child has been sent to the referral point and has been given a detention. If the detention time given is inconvenient to you, please contact us and we will arrange an alternative after-school detention. We have noticed that boots have started to be worn by girls instead of

Prom Fundraising
The Friends of Cromer Academy will be meeting on Monday 9th February at 7pm. We have a fantastic group of dedicated parents who help fundraise for our school. Please feel free to pop along and meet other parents and our Head Teacher Penny Bignell. All ideas are welcome on how to raise money for our school. We run supper quizzes, pamper days, along with fetes and other events. Contact Secretary Penny Gee via pgee45@cromeracademy.org.uk or just turn up on the night!
Well done to the prom committee for raising £104 from the cake sale held on 18th December. The committee will continue to meet regularly to organise further fundraising activities to support their Prom being held at Northrepps Cottage on Thursday 2nd July.
Phone calls home–
Due to the increasing number of requests by students to call home for forgotten PE kits, equipment for lessons or homework, we will now be charging 20p. Please ensure your child has the correct equipment with them in the mornings for the school day. We will no longer be calling home to chase these requests unless the student has sufficient funds for these calls. We are hoping this new policy will encourage students to be more responsible and less reliant on staff and parents accommodating their forgetfulness.
