INTERIM DEAN’S MESSAGE

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2024–2025 Annual Report for Cal Poly Pomona’s College of Professional and Global Education (CPGE).

This year, CPGE continued to advance its mission as the university’s hub for professional, adult, and global learning, expanding access, deepening industry alignment, and shaping new pathways for the learners we proudly serve. Across programs, partnerships, and purpose-driven initiatives, our college remains focused on one goal: creating real-world impact through inclusive polytechnic education.

Guided by Cal Poly Pomona’s core values and CPGE’s INSPIRE Framework, we launched and scaled programs that speak directly to today’s workforce needs. From new graduate degree offerings and expanded professional development certificates to the continued growth of our Global Campus, our work is centered on building future-ready, flexible learning models that empower diverse learners to grow careers and transform communities.

‘‘
Our work is centered on building future-ready, flexible learning models that empower diverse learners to grow careers and transform communities.”

In 2024–2025, CPGE generated $14,849,878 million in revenue between Foundation and Academic Programs and secured $1.85 million in philanthropic and external funding to support access, innovation, and workforce engagement. This includes a $1.35 million investment to establish the Workforce Innovation and Career Engagement (WICE) Office, as well as a $500,000 workforce training contract with the Southeast Los Angeles County Workforce Development Board (SELACO). These efforts not only strengthen our programs, expand our reach and impact, and deepen our institutional capabilities to meet emerging workforce needs, but they also help connect our students to real opportunities in a rapidly evolving job market.

CPGE continues to engage in system-wide conversations about workforce innovation, including exploratory models such as employment agenciesin-residence, which aim to bridge education and employment while advancing equity and economic mobility. Through our Workforce Engagement Ecosystem, we remain committed to partnering with colleges, industry, and community stakeholders to ensure every learner has access to meaningful, careerrelevant experiences.

As we reflect on this year’s growth and impact, I am proud of our dedicated staff and faculty, our collaborators and partners across and beyond the university, and, above all, our students - many of whom are first-generation, non-traditional, and working professionals charting bold new paths forward.

The future of education is flexible, responsive, and learner centered. At CPGE, we are building that future today.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

In 2024–25, the College of Professional and Global Education’s Programs Department accelerated its impact through bold innovation, strategic growth, and dynamic industry partnerships. Surging demand for our academic and professional development programs reflected CPGE’s expanding role as a leader in accessible, workforce-driven education, equipping learners with the skills, flexibility, and connections to excel in a rapidly changing world.

Key milestones included the soft launch of four new graduate programs slated for Fall 2025, progress on several additional degree and non-credit offerings, and the approved or pending conversion of major engineering and science programs from selfsupport to state-support.

Operationally, CPGE implemented a CSU Policy 1099 aligned budget model, introduced an integrated program development workflow,

and restructured compensation protocols for professional development instructors. These improvements enhanced efficiency, transparency, and cross-campus collaboration.

CPGE also advanced its workforce development initiatives, securing a $500,000 Employment Training Panel (ETP) grant, hosting career

pathway events, and distributing more than 120 Google Career Certificate licenses to a diverse learner population. Together, these accomplishments reflect the department’s continued commitment to academic excellence, industry partnership, and the evolving needs of students and employers alike.

The 2024–25 academic year was a milestone for the CPGE Programs Department as we laid the groundwork for new graduate and non-credit offerings launching in 2025–26. Our progress reflects not only the expertise of our team but our commitment to serving the evolving needs of continuing learners and industry partners. Just as critical is the culture we fostered rooted in trust, belonging, and a deep respect for the people behind the work. We’re proud of what we’ve built and energized by what’s ahead.”
