Gooding Music Attends Honor Clinic

Gooding Senators Music had 23 amazing students selected to represent Gooding at the District IV Honor Clinic and Concert this past week. They put on an amazing performance after just two days of rehearsal with other selected musicians from schools in our area. Please join us once again in congratulating these amazing young musicians on representing their community so well!

The Gooding Alternative Learning Center

Cam Carrico Agency, llc

by Ryon Pope, Principal

The Gooding Alternative Learning Center is now in its third year, having been in operation since August 2021. In that time, we have served over 50 students, past and present, and have graduated 15 in our first two years. Currently, we have just under 30 students enrolled. The purpose of the school is to help students with credit recovery and get them back on track for graduation in order to help them become productive and successful adults. The curriculum of the school is based on the Idaho state standards but is adapted and driven entirely by student needs. Our teachers, who rotate from the main high school building to the “GALC” throughout the day, constantly assess the needs of students and identify learning gaps to foster the academic growth and success of each student. This process works because of strong relationships and connections between the teachers and the students. The students at GALC are not “bad” kids, at all! Each of them is enrolled here for a variety of different reasons. For most of them, it’s just a better fit. We set expectations of good behavior, attendance, and academic engagement for each student and it’s great to see them grow as students and as young people. Overall, it’s a challenging and very rewarding experience for students, staff, and teachers to be a part of this great school.
