Aldi to recruit 600 new store staff in 2022 Aldi Ireland has continued its Irish expansion and investment drive opening its new state-of-the-art corporate office in Naas, Co. Kildare, and confirming it will recruit 600 new store staff this year. Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Leo Varadkar TD, officially opened the new 41,000 ft² Birch House, Millennium Park facility which will house Aldi’s National Buying and Marketing teams. The move reflects Aldi’s continued expansion over the past several years, which has seen its workforce grow to over 4,650 staff, supporting 149 Irish stores. Aldi has committed to a €320 million three-year (2022-2024) investment programme that will see it open a further 30 new stores across the country.

This was the first session of ‘Never Mind the Buzzwords’, a new community network initiative led by Julie O’Sullivan (C.Psychol., Ps.S.I.), the new Head of People Development with Jigsaw Better Business. The group hosts online events where they tackle a topic that’s relevant to personal and professional development. This community will combine psychological research with practical realworld examples and strategies to improve businesses. It’s free to join and is open to anyone who wants to get food for thoughts and connect with others.

Chamber member launches Family Business Book Family businesses are all around us. More than 75% of all business in the world are family owned. Walk down any street in any town or village in Ireland and you’ll see family businesses everywhere. The Family Business Book was written by Chamber member Paul Keogh (Paul Keogh & Associates) for anyone working in a family business, either a family member or an employee. It gives practical advice on how families and family members can work together in business and not kill each other! Paul Keogh has worked all his life in family businesses, the likes of Guinness, JCB and Ballymore to name just three. Paul believes that when a family puts the right structures in place, family businesses can be very successful. However, if you get it wrong, the family business can break up families. The tips in the book will help family business have the right conversations.
