Message from the Director

The Parks & Recreation Department is gearing up for a wonderful Spring and Summer season with the return of many of our most popular classes and events as well as a wide variety of new ones to pique your interest. Fun family events like Planet Palooza, Open Streets Corvallis, Summer Concerts, and the Movie in Avery Park are a great way to spend time outdoors with your friends and neighbors.

Need ideas to keep the kids busy when they’re not in school? Try something new with a theatre or art class at The Majestic Theatre, after school or weekend sports classes, or take your pick at any number of specialty summer day camps. Registration opens for all spring and summer programs (except summer swim lessons) on Saturday, March 16th.

Don’t worry, there’s plenty for the adults, too! The monthly Rec Fit Membership still offers a great variety of yoga, pilates, dance and movement classes available for you to pick and choose based on the day, with unlimited access, not to mention martial arts, pickleball, and sports leagues. Older adults can check out the dozens of free activities at the Corvallis Community Center, including social programs, music, movies, support groups, and workshops.

Finally, the Osborn Aquatic Center is the place for learning to swim and staying active with low impact exercise. This season we are expanding the Open Rec Swim so check out the new schedule. And, there’s always the amazingly talented performers offering quality entertainment at The Majestic Theatre, so don’t forget to buy your tickets for an evening Downtown!

Registration

How To Register

• Online at corvallisoregon.gov/parksrec or call us at (541) 766-6918

• Visit our offices at Avery Park, Osborn Aquatic Center, Corvallis Community Center or The Majestic Theatre (Hours of operation are subject to change)

Registration Process

To improve equity around our registration process, we have made some changes.

• There will be two SEPARATE REGISTRATION DATES

Spring & Summer Registration: March 16 at 9am

Summer Swim Lessons Registration: May 11 at 9am

• Registration will open on a Saturday at multiple locations

• Scholarship recipients can use their scholarships to register online

• Payment Plans are available for Summer Camps

To increase access we have created a separate registration date for Summer Swim Lessons and will offer our opening day of registration on Saturday mornings to accommodate with traditional work schedules. We also know that not all community members can afford to register for all of the summer camps at once, so we are offering monthly payment plans.

In addition, community members that have applied and been approved for scholarship funds will have them automatically added to their account as usual. They can then use those funds to register online for activities. Scholarship funds will be applied first.

Thank you for helping us improve our delivery of services to the community!

General Policy

• Enrollment is subject to space availability.

• Full payment is required at time of registration.

• Many programs have a minimum/maximum enrollment requirement.

• Activities may be cancelled if minimum enrollments are not met, so sign up early.

Payment

• All information and fees are subject to change without notice.

• Make checks payable to the City of Corvallis. We also accept credit cards, cash, and gift cards.

• All returned checks will be assessed a $25 service charge.

Payment Plans (Summer Camps Only)

To increase access to Camp programming this summer payment plan options are available and can be selected at the time of registration online, in person, or over the phone. Payment Plan will allow families to enroll in camp programming and manage payment scheduling to meet their needs.

Our policy requires all customers to have an active credit or debit card on file. If you have any questions regarding the new Payment Plan options please contact our front desk.

Urban Forestry Program

Corvallis has been named Tree City USA for the 23rd consecutive year!

Tree Cities are recognized for sound urban forestry management, maintaining a tree board, having a community tree ordinance, and celebrating Arbor Day. This year, Corvallis received its 15th Growth Award, and is recognized as A Sterling Tree City by the National Arbor Day Foundation. Corvallis also has a robust Heritage Tree Program that recognizes trees of exceptional size, age, or historical value.

Inventory Corvallis has over 15,000 street trees alone. These street trees, which grow along streets, in parks and City-owned right of ways, are managed by Corvallis Parks and Recreation Urban Forestry and the collective sum of their ecosystem service benefits exceeds $1,000,000!

Parks and Trails

Coming Soon…

We are planning for Summer 2024 construction for a complete renovation of the Avery Park Playground!

The new inclusive design features a nature and river-inspired theme with a variety of play equipment, swings, a toddler playhouse, shade umbrella, and a sand play area. Accessible features include anti-static synthetic turf surfacing, ramp access to the play structure, and a variety of sensory play elements. To round out the playground, new pathways, a new restroom building, and a new picnic shelter will create a cohesive space to accommodate people of all ages and abilities to stay and play together. This project made possible through a grant from the Land and Water Conservation Fund and Oregon State Parks and Recreation, matched by contributions from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and Park System Development Charges.
