Message from the Director
The Parks & Recreation Department had a blast this summer – we hope you did too! Thank you for joining us at the various concerts, festivals, and other events in the parks, and for entrusting us with your kids in our camps or for a fun day at Otter Beach. It truly was a summer to remember. Looking ahead into the Fall and Winter seasons, we are excited to be offering another set of robust programming that aims to offer something for everyone. From water aerobics to watercolors, basketball to ballroom dancing, and Cabaret to cabernet, this guide is your one stop shop for fun and enrichment for the whole family. Pay special attention to our new registration processes, which are outlined on page 4. Based on community feedback, we will now be opening registration for most Fall programs on a weekend day, (Saturday, August 26th) to ensure more people have immediate access and availability to enroll into those popular programs in a more equitable manner. Online registration opens at 9am, and in-person registration will be available from 9am-4pm at the Corvallis Community Center, and from 9am-12pm at the Avery Park Administration Building, The Majestic Theatre, and Osborn Aquatic Center. Additionally, scholarship recipients will now be able to apply your credit using the online registration system. We’d love to hear your feedback on our new processes and programs as we are always looking to improve our service to you. Simply reach out to any Parks & Recreation team member with your suggestions or to share your experience – we’re all ears!

To improve equity around our registration process, we have made some changes. • We will now have SEPARATE REGISTRATION DATES for Fall and Winter terms.
Family
• Registration will open on a Saturday at multiple locations • Scholarship recipients can use their scholarships to register online
C3
To increase access we have added a winter registration date and will offer our opening day of registration on Saturday mornings to accommodate more folks with work schedules. We know that not all community members can afford to register for 6 months of activities at once or be available during the week to register. In addition, community members that have applied and been approved for scholarship funds will have them automatically added to their account as usual. They can then use those funds to register online for activities. Scholarship funds will be applied first. Throughout the guide you will see activities are marked FALL or WINTER. The registration date for each is listed below. Thank you for helping us improve our delivery of services to the community!

Parks and Trails Riverfront Park Trash Can Replacement Thanks to a grant from the State of Oregon to help cities better manage trash and debris to keep public spaces clean, Riverfront Park and the entire Downtown area will be the recipients of dozens of new trash receptacles. The new receptacles replace the over 20-year-old concrete ones that are no longer functional or meeting the community’s needs. Rest assured, many of the iconic concrete receptacles that have mosaic art pieces will be saved by the local Rotary Club to be refurbished into little libraries and planters that local businesses can adopt and maintain.
Bruce Starker Arts Park – West Playground Resurfacing Project The Pour-In-Place (PIP) Rubber Surfacing at the west playground at Bruce Starker Arts Park underwent a full replacement in July. The old material had deteriorated beyond repair and posed potential safety hazards. The new surfacing is fully accessible, ADAcompliant, meets all playground safety standards, and looks great, too! The high traffic zones, such as under the swings and at the ends of the slides, received a higher density rubber to be able to withstand more use. We look forward to watching more kids enjoy this awesome playground!
