COVID-19 TESTING

COVID-19 testing for CCISD staff and students is available at Lozano Instructional Service Center. Clinic hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. Appointments may be scheduled online Walk-ins are based on availability. Parent authorization is required for students under 18.

Our Teacher of the Year Selection Committee read through 57 essays and selected 10 Elementary and 10 Secondary teachers.

Teacher of the Year finalists will be announced in late February, and district winners will be announced in early March.

Dr. Elliff Scholarship and Teacher Fellowship Award

Dr. D. Scott Elliff Scholarship Award 2023

Looking for financial support to help complete your college degree or teaching certification? The Dr. D. Scott Elliff Scholarship Award was established to support CCISD staff who are attending classes to earn a college degree to become an educator or, if degree has already been received, need to obtain a State Teaching Certification. The scholarship award amount is $500.

Eligibility:

• Three years employed with CCISD.

• Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university.

• Or needing to obtain State Teaching Certification must have degree from an accredited college or university. Information on how to apply can be found online. Email applications to Eloisa.Dowiat@ccisd.us by Monday, March 20, 2023.

Teacher Fellowship Award 2023

Do you need Professional Development Training for Pre-AP or AP this summer? The CCISD Teacher Fellowship Award funds registration and some travel expenses for CCISD teachers to attend College Board approved professional development courses in Pre-AP or AP at summer institutes or seminars in Texas. Awards vary in value depending on requests, up to approximately $1,500.

Eligbility:

• Five years teaching experience

• Three years teaching in CCISD

• Currently teaching a secondary Pre-AP or AP course, seeking to increase or improve mastery of subject matter.

In the Board Room: School Board Month continues

School Board Month festivities continued at the Jan. 23 Board of Trustees Meeting.

Board members were recognized for their service to CCISD and were treated to a performance by the Veterans Memorial High School POPies!

The board recognized December Above the Line employee of the month winners and students from Montclair Elementary School for reciting the U.S. and Texas pledges at the start of the meeting.

During the meeting, the board also:

• Approved a 10 classroom addition to Dawson Elementary School.

• Approved an agreement for the purchase and installation of iPads districtwide.

CCISD police officers honored for safety, security

The Education Service Center, Region 2, honored Chief of Police Kirby Warnke and Sgt. Janelle Cantu for their diligent work in keeping all students and staff safe.

Nominees were selected by Region 2 superintendents for the commitment and determination they have shown.

“Our Education Service Center recognizes the value these individuals bring to their school communities. This event is to show support of our safety and security personnel doing a tremendous job at ensuring the safety and security of students, staff, and school districts within Region 2,” stated Dr. Esperanza Zendejas, Executive Director of the Education Service Center, Region 2.

Electronic copies of 2022 W-2 forms are available in Employee Online.

You may access the form via the district’s portal, portal.ccisd.us, using the same process you follow to retrieve your employee pay stub.

If you requested the district mail you a paper copy as well, we will mail them via the US Postal Service to the address on file. If you have any questions, please contact the Payroll Department at 695-7339 or payroll@ccisd.us.
