It’s a very happy 10th birthday at Nibana Restaurant & Takeaway! Plymouth’s multi-award winning Indian restaurant, Nibana, is celebrating 10 successful years by saying ‘thank you’ to its customers with a range of special offers. The Crownhill restaurant marked its anniversary in September with 20% off restaurant bills for a week and is now offering 20% off takeaways, while banquet nights in the restaurant are available for just £11.95 per head. For the two brothers who own Nibana, Shah and Hisbul Hussain, it’s a way of sharing their success with their loyal customers who have made it one of the most popular restaurants in Plymouth. Shah and Hisbul opened the restaurant after the family moved from London to live in the Crownhill area: “I remember saying when we opened that our target was to reach 10 years and we’ve achieved that,” said elder brother Shah. “Because if you get that far, you’ve done well – and long may it continue. “We set out to create a modern, contemporary Indian restaurant in this part of the city,” he added. “We’d been working at our uncle’s takeaway just up the road and felt the area needed a high quality Indian restaurant.” Hisbul added: “Because this was our first restaurant and we’d only had experience in takeaways before, a lot of people said we would only last six months. But we didn’t pay

attention to that because we had confidence we could do well here.” Anyone who’s been to Nibana will know all about the welcoming, friendly atmosphere which, says Shah, is one of the reasons for the restaurant’s popularity with diners: “Our customer interaction is something that they really like. We do our own training here and friendliness and customer service is a very important part of that. And we are a team. Most of us have been here since we opened.” Another big reason behind Nibana’s success is, of course, the delicious food: “That is always down to the ingredients,” said Shah. “If you eat a dish here, you will taste all of the flavours and all of the spices.” Head chef Salik has been here from the start, overseeing the consistency and quality that has earned Nibana prestigious national awards from the English Curry Awards and the Cobra Good Curry Guide: “Our customers know that if they order their favourite dish it will taste just as good as last time,” said Shah. “That’s why so many of our customers keep coming back.” Favourites include chicken chashni, chicken tikka masala, and balti and jalfrezi Nibana’s impressive restaurant dishes. The current special offers include 20% off takeaways of over £15, Sundays to Thursdays and Banquet Nights which are available Sundays to Tuesdays (both promotions excluding Bank Holidays and special event days such as Mother’s Day). Takeaways, which are collection only, offer customers restaurant quality food to enjoy at home, while Banquet Nights offer a choice of starters and mains and a rice or naan bread per person. Poppadoms and pickles are included in the price of £11.95 (minimum of two people.) Vegetarian options are available. For those who don’t fancy roast turkey on Christmas Day, Nibana is again opening for lunch to offer people the alternative of a ‘Curry Christmas’. “We’ve done this for the past four years and we’ve been packed,” said Shah. “The atmosphere is really special and everyone has a great time.” Diners can choose from the à la
