WOW, WHAT A TIME OF YEAR!
Spring never disappoints, with warmer weather, longer days and prettier everything, it’s easy to feel a sense of rejuvenation and rebirth during these splendid months. While we’re only a handful of months into the year, and there’s a feeling of a fresh start, it also feels as though some things are coming to conclusion.
With the school year nearing its completion for the 2024-2025 calendar year, the focus for many will turn towards summer vacations, kids’ camps and afternoons spent by the pool. For some, this will mark the end of a journey that began more than a decade ago, with their first day in kindergarten, concluding as they walk across a stage, accepting a well-earned high school diploma.
There’s no doubt it’s a day to celebrate the reward for years of study, homework and late-night cramming sessions. However, the journey isn’t over yet. In fact, it’s just beginning. Some will head off to college, leaving the nest and making mom a wreck. Some will head off to join a branch of the military, giving selflessly to our great country which we’ll be eternally grateful for — still mom will be a wreck. Some, if they’re anything like me, will take the scenic route in life — and I can guarantee you, mom will be a wreck, albeit for different reasons!
So, to all the grads out there, cheers to your achievements. This isn’t only the spring season from a calendar and weather standpoint, but it’s also the spring season of your next chapter in life, and we look forward to watching you grow.
Last, but not least, to my daughter, who is part of this group of young adults graduating — whatever direction life takes you, your mom and I love you and are so proud of who you are.

HOMETOWN: San Antonio, Texas
FAMILY MEMBERS: My wife, Georgia, my three brothers, mom, dad and grandparents who all still live in San Antonio.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO PURSUE WORK IN THIS FIELD?
I started playing tennis at age 5 and have loved being on the tennis court ever since then. Along my racquet sports journey, I have also picked up pickleball and paddle, which I enjoy both playing and coaching. My love for racquet sports is what brought me to start coaching, but the joy of sharing my expertise with others and building meaningful relationships with so many people is what has made me stay in the field.
WHAT PAST WORK HISTORY PREPARED YOU FOR YOUR POSITION AT CORDILLERA RANCH?
For the past three years, I served as an Assistant Racquet Sports Professional at The Country Club of Virginia in Richmond, where I had the privilege of coaching tennis and pickleball to members of all ages and skill levels. I am excited to apply my coaching experience and skills to my role at Cordillera Ranch. I’m also excited to be back near San Antonio where I grew up! I graduated from Alamo Heights High School before playing Division I tennis at the University of Richmond. After sticking around in Richmond as a tennis professional following my college career, I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue doing what I love in my home state.
WHY DID YOU WANT TO WORK AT CORDILLERA RANCH?
I’ve always been fascinated by the Texas Hill Country’s beauty, but my greatest satisfaction has always come from helping people and building new relationships, which is what I am most looking forward to. I immediately took a great liking to Alejandro Chong, our Director. He is someone I am looking forward to working with and helping improve the already esteemed Cordillera Ranch Racquet Sports program.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST REWARDING PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE?
Personally, I love seeing when someone I’ve been coaching jumps up in their USTA or DUPR rating. It is a culmination of hours of hard work from both of us, and it feels really good to have proof of their success rather than having to rely solely on my words of support!
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR GREATEST PROFESSIONAL CHALLENGE?
At first, working with younger kids was challenging in the sense of figuring out how to provide a fun atmosphere while maintaining a level of respect and order, but it has become very rewarding to see their passion and understanding of the sport grow.
WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE ATHLETE, AND WHY?
Andy Roddick. I met him at the San Antonio Country Club at a young age and after he took the time to compliment and encourage me in person, he was cemented as my favorite athlete. He is the reason I pursued racquet sports and devoted my entire life to them.
WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME?
I enjoy reading, listening to music, watching TV, playing sports and, of course, spending time with my wife and family.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE GENRE OF MUSIC?
I am a huge fan of classic rock or anything with great guitar in it.
WHAT’S THE MOST EMBARRASSING SONG OR ARTIST IN YOUR PLAYLIST THAT YOU SECRETLY ENJOY?
“You Belong With Me” by Taylor Swift is a song I had to hide that I loved for the longest time.
IF YOU COULD TIME TRAVEL, WHERE WOULD YOU GO?
Honestly, the first thing I would do is travel back in time to invest and make a killing in the stock market for all my close friends, family and myself.
IF YOU HAD TO WATCH ONE MOVIE ON REPEAT, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
“The Dark Knight”
WHAT WAS YOUR MOST RECENT ADVENTURE?
Moving back to Texas from Richmond, Virginia, where I have lived since college! I met my wife there when we were both students at the University of Richmond and we’re excited to begin the next chapter of our lives in San Antonio.
WHAT’S ON YOUR BUCKET LIST?
There are many places I still want to travel to such as Dubai, Italy and Japan. I also want to skydive one day as I have always had a huge fear of heights and that would be a great act of bravery for myself.
The Alexanders A Life of Adventure, Legacy and Luxury in Cordillera Ranch
By Kimberly Suta :: Photography by David Teran
Brooke and Greg Alexander aren’t just homeowners at Cordillera Ranch — they’re adventurers, entrepreneurs and the proud parents of a sweet Boston Terrier rescue named Red. After nearly three decades of marriage and a lifetime of accomplishments, the couple has found their ideal retreat in the Texas Hill Country, balancing days of yachting, golf and horseback riding between their two dream homes in Jackson Hole and Cordillera Ranch.
Teran
The lovely couple met and unexpectedly fell in love on what would become their first — and last — blind date. Greg, who hails from Boston, recalls his mom’s premonition before relocating to Dallas that he was going to “meet one of those Texas beauties and never come home.” As mothers often do, she knew intuitively that her son’s life was about to drastically change.
After graduating from the University of Massachusetts, Greg was immediately hired by a technology company called EMC, which became one of the four horsemen of the internet during the dot com craze. When Greg’s co-workers proposed setting him up on a date, his first tongue-in-cheek comment was, “Do I look like I need a date?”
But when he found out that the intended date was a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader, he understandably changed his mind. “I didn’t think she [mom] knew I was going to marry a fifth generation Texan, but that’s what happened,” shared Greg.
“Technically, I was the first native Texan Greg had met since he moved to Dallas,” remembered Brooke. “The funny part of the story is his friend took him to a Cowboys’ game the day before our date. All they knew was that I was a brunette, so they spent the whole game trying to figure out who I might be.”
When they finally met, the chemistry was immediate. “Greg’s co-workers thought we’d be a good match,” Brooke recalled. “And they weren’t wrong! We moved in together and were married within 18 months.” Twenty-eight years later, their love story is still going strong.
Greg, being an entrepreneur at heart, founded and later sold SBI (Sales Benchmark Index), a tech-enabled service firm that helped Fortune 500 companies optimize their sales teams. According to Brooke, Greg has always been ambitious (one of the many things that attracted him to her), and bucks the trends any chance he gets. He also happens to be the “greatest husband in the world.” It’s no wonder he was able to sell his company at the age of 47.
“We decided to travel the world and enjoy life after that, but I got bored,” he admitted. Then COVID hit. “I wrote
a book — The Boutique: How to Start, Scale, and Sell a Professional Services Firm — and it took off.” That book laid a wonderful foundation for his latest venture, Collective 54, a mastermind community for entrepreneurs.
While Greg built businesses, Brooke followed her own passions and nobody applauds her accomplishments more than Greg. “She’s a Texan, and that one word encapsulates it all. She’s beautiful, tough, practical, independent and fierce. Brooke cheered for the Cowboys, went to three Super Bowls, performed with Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, David Letterman, at USO tours, and she launched and runs the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Alumni Association,” he noted.
Greg, being the savvy visionary that he is, saw the potential and encouraged her to start it and gave her the book, Art of the Start.
“One line stuck with me — ‘Do the job that no one else is willing to do,’ and that’s what I ran with. Now, I’m in the 19th season of handling the Alumni Association for the Cheerleaders. There’s 888 of us,” she said, proudly.
As if that doesn’t keep her busy enough, Brooke also enjoys yoga, tennis, volunteering for Best Friends Animal Society, and photography. Interestingly, she’s won a ribbon at the Texas State Fair every year for over a decade.
After years in Dallas and travels worldwide, the Alexanders found themselves questioning city life. “We had the financial resources and freedom to live anywhere,” Greg explains. “So why stay in a crowded city?”
As Texas is Brooke’s family home, they knew they wanted to have a home base here, but where? The search led them across the serene Texas Hill Country — from Fredericksburg to Sisterdale — before an unexpected detour brought them to Cordillera Ranch.
“We were looking at a ranch in Sisterdale, where we almost made an offer, when I asked about the closest golf course. Next thing we knew, we were touring Cordillera Ranch,” said Greg. “And 30 minutes later, we made an offer.”
Their Cordillera Ranch home, located on a hill in Bear’s Ridge, sits on 30 acres
surrounded by sweeping views. “It feels like we’re on a 300-acre ranch, but without the upkeep,” explained Brooke. The property includes an estate home and a guest casita, offering the perfect balance of privacy and community.
Greg, who has become an avid golfer, was drawn to Cordillera’s Jack Nicklaus Signature Course. “It’s a great blend of challenge and playability,” he said. “The members have been incredibly welcoming, and the pro shop staff helped me upgrade my hand-me-down clubs. Katie Dillard, one of the instructors, has even worked with my unorthodox swing.”
Brooke, on the other hand, has been embracing the other amenities. “I love riding horses at the barn, playing tennis and taking nature walks to photograph the Hill Country’s beauty,” she said. “Cordillera Ranch is a perfect blend of both our interests.”
Their social calendar includes everything from wine dinners at the Club to yachting excursions in the Exumas. “We love cruising around the islands,” said Brooke. “I snorkel every chance I get, while Greg plays with all the toys — Seabobs, jet skis and fishing boats.”
Next on their yachting itinerary? Turks and Caicos in February 2026. Last summer they toured the Greek Isles by yacht with an exceptional captain named Niko, who knew every inch of the waters and helped them discover their favorite island, Hydra — which is entirely car-free and known for its exquisite architecture and stunning neoclassical stone mansions that overlook the port.
Brooke’s deep Texas roots are evident in their home, where artifacts from her family’s history are proudly displayed — including her grandfather’s beloved grey suede cowboy hat. “He wore it every single day, whether he was in a suit or out on the cantaloupe farm in Pecos, where he was also the mayor, ran John Deere® dealerships, a gas station and did crop dusting,” she said.
Each April, the Wicker family gathers for a reunion and cemetery cleanup in Brownwood, a tradition dating back to 1882. “It’s a way to honor our past while keeping the family connected,” confided Brooke.
What’s next for the happy couple includes Greg's continued efforts writing and speaking, while Brooke is eager to deepen her involvement in the Cordillera
Ranch community. “Last year was all about getting settled and the restoration at our log cabin in Jackson Hole, but now I’m so excited to dive in and get more involved in community groups.” Their favorite way to end a day? “A glass of Cakebread for Greg. I’m a bubbly girl, so Prosecco or Champagne for me,” said Brooke. “Sitting on our porch, watching the sunset over Bear’s Ridge, grateful for this amazing life we’ve built together.”
PLAY-A-HOLE
By Corey Roberson, Director of Golf
The 7th hole at Cordillera Ranch is our second Par-3 that you will encounter and can look pretty daunting from the tee. The green slopes away from you and to the right while being guarded by a large bunker on the front/right side and a couple of bunkers on the left side. In case you thought long was safe … it’s not — there’s another bunker there, too!
One of the coolest things about #7 is all the different tee box angles. Typically, the Blue tee will float between the left and right tee box — both paying roughly the same yardage depending on the hole location. The Silver tee has the least elevation and is situated to the right. The predominant wind is behind you making the club selection a little more difficult. When the pin is on the front of the green, a short miss in-line with the pin will leave a reasonable up-and-down. When it’s on the right side of the green, you want to shift your aimpoint more towards the
center. The back right part of that green slopes away from you and to the right, which makes a direct approach to that hole location very difficult to judge.
See you on the course!

THE MACH 3 GOLF SPEED TRAINING PROGRAM
By Aaron Kilian-Smith, PGA, 1st Assistant Golf Professional
If we haven’t met already, my name is Aaron Kilian-Smith, your 1st Assistant Golf Professional and resident Mach
3 Certified Instructor at The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch.
In other words, I teach people how to unlock their inner Happy Gilmore!
We hear it every week on the PGA Tour: the announcers rave over the power players of the game and how they create their speed and power from “the ground up.” But what does that mean? More to the point, how do we learn to create this within our own golf swing?
The elite players of the game can create so much power because they have trained their bodies’ ability to dynamically balance and move more efficiently than most. They put emphasis on sending their energy through the ball and to the target — not from the top of the swing to the ball, like so many of us are guilty of when we are really trying to get after one.
Mach 3 is a program designed to get your body moving more efficiently and effectively in the golf swing with an emphasis on speed out-in-front! Under my guidance, students will train with several different tools that are designed to help you build a stable, dynamic pattern while utilizing your sense of sight and sound to guide you. In other words, we are going to build strength in our big movement muscles, while also training our fast twitch muscles and their response time. Even better, Mach 3 is free of technical jargon!
With a wealth of data from the Mach 3 gym, right here in the San Antonio area, I can guarantee that golfers of all ages can benefit from this program. In fact, on average, players ranging in age from 50-70 years old can expect to see a 5-10+ mph in swing speed gains, on the low end. This computes to roughly 15-30 yards longer off the tee, and typically much straighter as well!
WHAT DOES A WORKOUT LOOK LIKE?
When coming to see me for an individual or group session, players should be prepared to move! We always start with some targeted stretching designed specifically for Mach 3 and the movements I am asking you to make. From there, we start working through the different tools and identifying “power leaks” and deficiencies in an individual’s movement patterns to target during workouts. In these short bursts, I will push you to your limit and help you break through it. In the moment, you will be able to see, feel and hear the change as you make it via the training tools. This is the magic of Mach 3!
CAN I DO THIS AT HOME?
Absolutely! To get the most out of Mach 3, I encourage everyone to pick up a “Speed Bomber” and “Jet Stick” combo to take the workouts home. It is recommended that students work diligently for the first six weeks of their training. That doesn’t mean it will occupy a lot of your time though. Generally, athome workouts last 20-30 minutes and I’m only asking you to do that three to six times a week, max.
IS THIS A GROUP CLASS OR CAN I DO IT 1-ON-1?
Yes, and yes! If you have a friend or two that is interested in Mach 3, the group setting can be great for getting started with the program. It allows a unique opportunity to encourage your peers and help provide confirmation for one another, while also motivating each other to stick with it.
At the same time, if you’d rather do this in a 1-on-1 setting, I totally understand and encourage it! This is a great opportunity for students to dive deeper into workouts, while also allowing me to create a personalized program to help my students reach their goals.
If you’re interested or have more questions about Mach 3 Golf Speed Training, please don’t hesitate to contact me via email or by calling the Golf Shop at 830.336.4653. Better yet, if you see me, just flag me down and I will be glad to elaborate.
Aaron Kilian-Smith, PGA, is the 1st Assistant Golf Professional at The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch. He can be reached at akiliansmith@cordilleraranch.com and 830.336.4653.
MOWING SMARTER, NOT HARDER:
CORDILLERA RANCH ROLLS OUT AMP FIREFLY AUTONOMOUS MOWERS
WHERE CUTTING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY MEETS CUTTING FAIRWAYS
By Stu Rowland, Director of Agronomy
At The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch, innovation isn’t just a buzzword — it’s how we keep our standards high, our turf pristine and our team ahead of the curve. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce the arrival of our newest team members: the AMP Firefly all-electric autonomous fairway mowers.
These state-of-the-art machines do more than just cut grass — they redefine what efficiency looks like on the golf course. With GPS-guided precision and the quiet confidence of a Tesla on turf, the Firefly mowers handle fairways with exceptional consistency and none of the noise (or coffee breaks). Even better, while the mower does its thing, a single team member can complete several other jobs — raking bunkers, checking irrigation, or setting pins — basically being in two places at once, without breaking a sweat.
It’s not just about multitasking. The Firefly mowers are fully electric, meaning they glide silently across the fairways without leaving a trail of fumes. Our equipment technicians are also more efficient as they no longer have to service diesel engines and hydraulics! These mowers align perfectly with our long-term sustainability goals while showing that we’re serious
about embracing the latest in turf care tech — without losing sight of tradition.
Sure, the mower might not laugh at our bad jokes or help carry sod, but it’s a valuable teammate nonetheless. We see it as another way Cordillera Ranch blends innovation with excellence, giving our members a course that’s as forward-thinking as it is beautifully maintained.
LIFE IS BETTER OUT HERE
— ESPECIALLY WHEN THE FAIRWAYS PRACTICALLY MOW THEMSELVES.

PLAYING THE RIGHT WAY AT THE CLUBS OF CORDILLERA RANCH PICKLEBALL RULES & ETIQUETTE:
By Alejandro Chong, Director of Racquet Sports
Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the country, blending elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong into a fun, fast-paced and social game. At The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch, we welcome players of all skill levels to enjoy the sport while maintaining the highest standards of etiquette and sportsmanship. Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or new to the game, understanding pickleball’s rules and etiquette is essential for ensuring an enjoyable experience for everyone on the court.
UNDERSTANDING THE RULES OF PICKLEBALL
Pickleball can be played as singles or doubles, but the fundamental rules remain the same. The game starts with an underhand serve, which must be struck below the waist and hit diagonally cross-court. The serve must land beyond the non-volley zone, also known as the “kitchen,” and within the correct service box and, unlike tennis, there are not second serve attempts.
One of the most important aspects of pickleball is the twobounce rule. After the serve, the receiving team must let the ball bounce before returning it. Similarly, the serving team must allow the return to bounce before playing the ball. Only after these two bounces can players hit volleys (striking the ball out
of the air). This rule prevents aggressive net play right from the start, encouraging longer rallies and strategic movement.
Another critical rule involves the non-volley zone — the “kitchen.” This area extends seven feet from the net on both sides, and players are not allowed to volley the ball while standing inside it. If a player volleys the ball and their momentum carries them into the kitchen, it’s a fault. However, players are allowed to step into the kitchen to play a ball that has already bounced.
SCORING IN PICKLEBALL
In doubles pickleball, scoring follows a unique system that can be tricky for beginners. Games are typically played to 11 points, and a team must win by at least two points. Only the serving team can score, and the score is called in three parts: the serving team’s score, the receiving team’s score and the server number (either 1 or 2). If the serving team wins a rally, they score a point and continue serving. If they lose the rally, the serve passes to their partner or the opposing team if both players have already served. This rotation continues until a team reaches the winning score.
In singles pickleball, scoring follows the same basic rules as doubles but with a few key differences. Games are usually played to 11 points, and only the server can score. The score is called with just two numbers: the server’s score and the receiver’s score. The server always serves from the right side when their score is even and from the left side when their score is odd. If the server wins a rally, they earn a point and continue serving. If they lose the rally, the serve goes to their opponent. The game continues until one player reaches the winning score with at least a two-point lead.
PICKLEBALL ETIQUETTE: THE UNWRITTEN RULES OF THE GAME
Beyond the official rules, proper etiquette is what makes pickleball such an enjoyable and social sport. At The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch, we encourage all players to follow these important principles to ensure a respectful and friendly playing environment.
Clear Communication is key to keeping the game running smoothly. Before every serve, the server should call out the score loudly and clearly to avoid confusion. If a ball from another court rolls onto yours, immediately call a “let” to stop play and return the ball safely.
Honesty in Line Calls is essential to fair play. If there’s any doubt about whether a shot was in or out, players should give the benefit of the doubt to their opponent. Integrity on the court fosters mutual respect and encourages sportsmanship.
Keeping the Game Moving is another key part of good etiquette. Players should be ready for their turn, minimize unnecessary delays, and quickly retrieve balls that go out of play. When returning a ball to another player, a gentle underhand toss or roll is the best way to do it — hitting the ball forcefully across the court is considered poor form.
Respect for Opponents and Partners is at the heart of pickleball etiquette. Encouragement and positive reinforcement are always welcome, but excessive celebration can come across as unsportsmanlike. Likewise, offering unsolicited coaching to your partner or opponent during a match can be frustrating. Everyone plays at their own pace, and unless someone asks for advice, it’s best to let them play their game.
Court Rotation and Sharing are important in club and community play. At The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch, we follow a fair rotation system to ensure that all members have an opportunity to play. If others are waiting, it’s courteous to limit play to one game before rotating off the court.
Ending the Game with Respect is just as important as how you start it. Win or lose, a paddle tap and a quick “good game” go a long way in maintaining a friendly atmosphere. Acknowledging great shots from both your partner and opponents keeps the game positive and enjoyable for everyone.
Cordillera Ranch offers open play pickleball days from Monday to Saturday for advanced beginners and higher levels who are familiar with the rules and comfortable playing on their own. These open sessions provide a great opportunity to practice, improve skills, and enjoy friendly competition with players at a similar level. Whether you're looking to refine your game or meet other pickleball enthusiasts, our open play format ensures plenty of time on the court. For more details about scheduling or any other inquiries, please contact the Director of Racquet Sports, Alejandro Chong.
At The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch, we strive to create an environment where pickleball is both competitive and enjoyable. Whether you’re playing for fun or looking to refine your skills, following proper etiquette and rules makes the game better for everyone. Play fair, respect your fellow players and, most importantly, have fun!
See you at the courts!

HUNGER HORMONES: HUNGER HORMONES: UNDERSTANDING & CONTROLLING THEM
By Tamra L. Christiansen, Director Fitness & Wellness
Did you know that many who lose weight gain it within a year? That can be frustrating for so many. We wonder why this happens when we have worked so hard!
It can be from us getting to the goal and then getting out of the habit. The solution is an easy one: reframe our goals and move towards them actively. Another reason could be that our bodies are trying to go back to homeostasis, craving “what was,” even if that means going back to the weight we held onto for so long. We must convince our bodies that this is the weight we should be (and stay at). So, what gives? We must turn to our hunger hormones, or weight-regulating hormones.
The hormones that play a crucial role in hunger are ghrelin and leptin. Ghrelin is typically called the hunger hormone. When the stomach is empty, it signals the need to eat in the brain’s hypothalamus. It rises before meals and lowers about one hour after. When ghrelin increases, this encourages the body to store fat. Lower levels of this hormone minimize hunger as well as fat storage. You are probably thinking ghrelin is a bad hormone to
have. It was necessary to our ancestors and still is today. With the ample amount of food available at arm’s reach, timing and constructive eating habits are the way to control this hormone. Successful eating habits also create lasting weight loss.
Leptin is the “off switch” hormone to hunger. This hormone is made in our body’s fat cells to decrease appetite. People who have higher fat cells have higher levels of leptin, and people who are lean have lower amounts of leptin. This seems backwards, right? When we have high amounts of leptin in the body, our body becomes tolerant of this hormone, thus obesity seems to creep back. This frustrating habit creates a yo-yo diet cycle, which is never good for the body.
As you all know, I love to talk about balance and the body’s homeostasis. We want this for our lives, our emotions, our bodies and for longevity. Let’s dive into four key points to balance these hormones:
AVOID FAD DIETS THAT CREATE QUICK WEIGHT LOSS
Calories in, energy out is the way to go. Eat smaller portions with emphasis on protein, healthy fats and fiber. Protein is foundational for lean muscle and keeps us satiated. Fiber is filling and slows the digestion process. Resistant starches, such as oats, lentils and sweet potatoes, slow this process down as well.
DO HIIT (HIGH INTENSITY INTERVAL TRAINING)
Exercise at a breathless pace for 20-30 seconds and recover for 10-15 seconds. Do this for 20-30 minutes, two to three days a week, and never two consecutive days in a row. HIIT boosts metabolism, reduces ghrelin, and suppresses appetite. Strength training on the other days increases growth hormone production and reduces ghrelin production.
LIMIT FRUCTOSE IN YOUR DIET
Avoid most processed foods, which sneak in fructose and many other types of sugar. Sugar and all the other names connected to it cause an increase in the hormone ghrelin.
OMEGA-3 FOODS ARE YOUR FRIEND
Salmon, nuts, flaxseed and egg yolks are great sources of Omega-3’s. They help the functioning of leptin.
The big focus on best health practices is managing stress and getting enough sleep. These are great for balancing hormones and so many other things! We are bombarded with so much health information, but if we stick with the basics, we will attain our true health. Our trainers are here for any questions you have. Reach out to us, because we are here for you!
If you have any questions about where to start, please contact me!

THE AXIS WINE PROGRAM
By Jeffrey M. Cohen, CMS, Wine Specialist & Beverage Manager
In this article, I would like to share with all of you the thoughts and inspirations that went into the curation of the Axis wine list.
TASTE!
:the sensation of flavor perceived in the mouth and throat on contact with a substance.
Creating a new restaurant/outlet wine list can be challenging, especially when considering all of the wine that hits the market today. As we started constructing the food menu, of course finding wines that would be nicely paired was very important. Another aspect we considered was that Axis opened right before summer, so seasonality came into play as well.
Throughout the years, I have gathered many requests from members and have tried to implement them into a wellrounded wine list. This list is worldly and has a Tuscan flare due to the Axis menu. We offer 40 percent domestic wines, accompanied by a few other New World wines, which makes it 50/50 New World to Old World. Old World wines consist of French, Italian and Spanish. Some put German and South African wines in this category, but it is not the norm. New World wines pretty much mean everywhere else.
I won’t walk you through the entire list but I do want to point out a handful of wine and food pairings that should work perfectly for you.
If you are starting out your day with a simple breakfast of our house-made croissant or Cheese Danish and some fresh fruit and berries, ask for a glass of
the Cesarini Sforza. This Brut Rosé from Trentino has a classic Champagne blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Maybe you are coming in for lunch and beginning with one of the favorite starters — the Italian Meatballs and Burrata. There are three customary pairings for this, and they are all Tuscan. The La Sala Chianti Classico has perfect acidity to go along with the house-made marinara. Secondly, the Poggio dell’ Aquila Rosso di Montalcino is a young vine Brunello that is light but very flavorful. Lastly, the San Polo Rubio is a richer wine with a bit more depth and a longer finish. All these wines are made with Sangiovese grapes.
For dinner, a few of my favorite pairings would begin with the Skillet Black Garlic Shrimp appetizer or the Mussels Cioppino with Roger et Christophe Moreux ‘Les Bouffants’ Sancerre. This Sancerre, which is the Sauvignon Blanc grape from the Loire Valley of France, just might be my favorite wine on the list. It is full and lively, round on the palate with a crisp and invigorating finish. The citrus notes will come out and form a harmonious union with the shellfish.
Next would have to be the Cowboy Ribeye Steak with a side of the Wild Mushrooms, garlic and herbs. For this we must go to the biggest red on the list. That wine is Robert Foley’s "The Griffin" Red. Robert Foley’s vineyard is in the Calistoga and Howell Mountain area, which is known for powerful expressions of wine. This wine is a field blend of Merlot, Petite Sirah, Syrah and Charbono. It is super dark in color with aromas of ripe red and black fruits accented by a hint of cedar. It is ripe and rich, and that is exactly how I would describe the Cowboy Ribeye and Mushrooms.
You must give them a try and tell me your thoughts. I love talking wine and welcome your emails and conversation.
Just one last note, all the wines on the Axis list are offered by the glass and our staff will be happy to pour you a taste. Come and enjoy!

GUN CLUB
By Shane Reynolds, Outdoor Recreation Director and Outfitter
The Gun Club at Cordillera Ranch provides a fun and safe venue for outdoor enthusiasts! The Gun Club provides a fantastic Hill Country venue with a beautiful Sporting Clay course, shotgun range, rifle range and handgun range, as well as instruction and competitions. We recently completed our AR range and new 50-yard range for small bore and tactical training. We are in the process of improving access to our 200-yard rifle range, and we installed sun shades at all our ranges at the Gun Club. We have also added new traps to our shotgun range and Sporting Clays course and a new custom-built two-sided shooting table at our 100-yard rifle range.
Jake Panknin, who was previously an Outfitter with the Club, has transitioned to our full-time Gun Club Manager, and he enjoys shooting and instruction with our members and their guests. Jake recently received his Range Master certificate from the National Rifle Association and he looks forward to spending more time at the Gun Club with members.
The Gun Club is no stranger to activity. On any given week, the secluded creek canyon on 200 beautiful acres hosts members and their guests for fun shotgun shooting, zeroing in rifles, target practice on the handgun range or some fun steel target shooting on our rifle range. Our new Texas star steel targets at the tactical range are a lot of fun to shoot!
NEWS
On average, the Gun Club has activity four to five days per week. A lot of our members start their day out with some ballistic therapy by throwing some lead downrange. What is ballistic therapy? Shooting at things to relieve stress. This mostly includes handguns, shotguns and rifles. The bigger the bang or the boom, the more the stress will be relieved. Targets may include clay pigeons, steel plates or whatever you bring out that causes you stress and can be safely shot downrange.
Our shotgun range now has a total of 25 traps that present different targets for our shotgun enthusiasts. The clay target game of Five Stand is very similar to Sporting Clays in that a wide variety of targets are thrown in an effort to simulate situations commonly encountered when hunting upland game and waterfowl. Five Stand is a great way to get a Sporting Clays-like experience in a small amount of space, with very little walking. No two Five Stand ranges are exactly alike, but they have one thing in common: There are five “stands” or stations from which you shoot. You can shoot our Five Stand course with one to five shooters. The Five Stand is also a great group activity.
The Five Stand has fifteen traps, each of which throws a different target. Participants shoot in turn at each of the five stands and various combinations of targets are thrown from the traps. Our Outfitter staff will advise the shooter of the sequence of targets so you know what to expect. Our Outfitter staff will also have the ability to change the menu set so shooters can experience a wide variety of scenarios.
In the game of Five Stand, you shoot at five targets from each of the five stations, for a total of 25 shots per round. It is a great range to get “tuned up” for your hunting endeavors.
The Gun Club also hosts myriad educational courses throughout the year. For the past eighteen years we have trained over 550 members and their guests in the Texas License to Carry program. We also offer many different types of handgun training classes that focus on self-defense, home defense and situational awareness. Be on the lookout for all the Club offerings at the Gun Club in our weekly Outdoor Recreation email to members.

BIRDING BIRDING IN CORDILLERA RANCH
By Shane Reynolds, Outdoor Recreation Director and Outfitter
Bird watching can be a joyful experience. The sounds of birds frolicking outside your Cordillera Ranch home can be a great addition to your garden and landscape. Bird feeders are the quickest and easiest way to attract our winged friends to your yard. If you have ever visited the Outfitter Center at Cordillera Ranch, you’ll have no doubt about how much I enjoy feeding birds and having them around the entire year.
Before I get into information on feeders, here is some information to get you started:
• Birds of the Texas Hill Country by Mark W. Lockwood, Terry Maxwell, Clemente Guzman (Illustrator) – a book I strongly suggest on the birds you may begin to see around your home once you get your feeders set up.
• Local Birds of Central Texas – an easy foldout of bird pictures and descriptions. Find it in the aisle of H-E-B.
• Guadalupe State Park – visit the park, just three miles east on Hwy 46, and pick up these two FREE publications by Texas Parks and Wildlife.
• Birds of the Edwards Plateau
• Providing for Backyard Wildlife
• A Little Nature Store at 106 E Theissen, just off Main Street in Boerne; 830.249.2281 – a great little shop with lots of bird feeders and friendly information.
Painted Bunting
Bird feeders come in a dazzling variety of shapes and sizes. Many designs are based upon careful research to attract birds with spectacular efficiency. More than ever, anyone can quickly learn the basics of bird feeding and choose a feeder that will lure a wide variety of birds throughout the winter months.
CHOOSING A FEEDER
There are five types of bird feeders: hopper, platform, tube, nectar and suet. Variations of each type number in the hundreds. Many species of birds will visit hopper and platform feeders filled with seed mixes. Tube feeders are designed for finches, but will attract other kinds of birds, especially if a bottom tray is attached. Woodpeckers are attracted to suet feeders.
BUYING A FEEDER
Before buying a feeder, decide how many feeding stations you want, and where you'll place them. A feeding station is a single feeder, or a group of feeders in one location. Be practical at first. Check out seed prices and decide if you have the time and energy to fill several feeders weekly. When shopping for a feeder, consider the quality of its materials and construction, its ease of filling and cleaning, and how much seed it can handle. Try to imagine the feeder after a heavy rain or after strong winds. Are the seeds soaked? Is the seed tray filled with water? The best feeders include covers and built-in drainage systems. The king of all bird feeders is made by All Seasons Feeders and it’s called the Wild Bird Feeder. It holds 20 pounds of seed and is powder coated.
WHERE TO PLACE FEEDERS
The location of your feeding station is important in two respects: Birds need the cover of trees or shrubs nearby to feel safe and welcome, and the feeder should be close enough to your window or porch so that you can enjoy their theatrics.
A BASIC FEEDING STATION
Start with a single platform, hopper or large tube feeder. Each accommodates large and small birds and can be hung from a tree or hoisted on a pole. Fill any of these feeders with black oil sunflower seeds and you're certain to get visitors, usually within days. Remember to position the feeders where you can see them clearly. Provide a birdbath filled with fresh water. Keep your feeders filled with dry seeds. If jays, cowbirds and other large birds are crowding out smaller birds, switch to a feeder that discriminates, or blocks them, but not the smaller, more desirable birds.
Have fun exploring the many types of bird feeders on the market. Attracting birds to your yard and around your home will greatly enhance the sights and sounds found in Cordillera Ranch. If you keep your feeders full of seed and food yearround, you’ll be amazed at the number of our feathered friends that visit your home.

SPECTACULAR THEATRE NIGHTS BEGIN AT THE CLUB
By Brianna Botine, Director of Membership & Lodging
Photography courtesy of Broadway in San Antonio™ at the Majestic Theatre
There's nothing quite like the magic of Broadway — especially when it's enjoyed with friends, great food and front-row seats. Our Club’s Broadway Night outings have become a beloved tradition, offering members an unforgettable evening of culture, camaraderie and convenience.
Each Broadway Night begins right here at the Club, where members gather for a beautifully curated three-course meal. Whether you're savoring a glass of wine or indulging in a decadent dessert, the pre-show dinner sets the tone for an elegant evening. After dinner, members grab a to-go drink and hop aboard our private shuttle, which takes us straight to the historic Majestic Theatre in downtown San Antonio.
Our membership team works behind-the-scenes to secure some of the best seats in the house — always aiming for lower-level spots, close to the stage. For our most recent outing, members enjoyed front-row seats to Mamma Mia! The energy was electric, and when the cast invited the audience to get up and dance during the finale, our members were right there, center stage in the action.
After the final curtain call, the shuttle is waiting just outside the theatre doors, ready to whisk everyone back to the Club, with no parking hassles or post-show traffic to worry about. These evenings are more than just trips to the theatre — they’re carefully crafted experiences designed to make the most of our vibrant community and the arts. We’re already looking forward to the next show!
For the 2025/2026 Season of Broadway in San Antonio, we plan to see The Outsiders, Disney’s Beauty and The Beast, Elf, TINA – The Tina Turner Musical, and & Juliet.

MY URGENT CARE CLINIC:
PROVIDING QUALITY CARE CLOSE TO HOME
By Ann Koehler
Since opening its doors in 2018, My Urgent Care Clinic has been dedicated to serving patients across Boerne, Bergheim, Comfort, Fair Oaks, and even the broader Fredericksburg, Kerrville and San Antonio areas.
Recognizing the growing need for accessible urgent care, the clinic expanded their services by opening a second location in Bergheim in June 2024. The newest location of My Urgent Care ClinicBergheim is located on FM 3351 at Hwy 46, just behind the Valero and between Bergheim Pizza and Scooter’s Coffee. This location is conveniently located near Cordillera Ranch and serves the east side of Boerne, north side of Fair Oaks and surrounding communities.
At the heart of My Urgent Care Clinic is John Turner, MD, who not only owns the practice but is also deeply committed to being an active part of the community. Dr. Turner’s journey in medicine shaped his vision for providing highquality, affordable urgent care. Beginning his career in family medicine, he built strong relationships with patients and understood the importance of accessible, preventive care. However, his transition to the emergency room revealed a growing issue — many patients seeking treatment for non-life-threatening conditions faced high medical costs. He wanted to create a space where patients could receive timely, efficient and cost-effective care without the burden of an expensive ER visit. This realization led to the founding of My Urgent Care Clinic, offering a practical solution for those who need immediate attention but don’t require emergency intervention. Dr. Turner’s experience across both primary and emergency care settings continues to shape the clinic’s mission — bridging the gap between PCPs and ERs while ensuring patients receive the right level of care at the right time.
My Urgent Care Clinics provide extended hours, including evenings and weekends, and remain open every holiday — ensuring patients have access to quality healthcare when their primary care provider is unavailable. The Bergheim location is staffed by experienced providers with a combined 30 years in urgent care. Their extensive knowledge is matched only by their dedication and compassion for each patient they treat. Additionally, the providers live in this area and are part of the local community. Dr. Turner also ensures a strong clinical presence by personally seeing patients in both clinics.
With a shortage of PCPs, the clinics help by offering medication refills and treatment for minor illnesses and injuries until patients can secure an appointment with their doctor — especially for those who are new to the Boerne area. Understanding that quality healthcare should be both efficient and personable, the team treats any and all urgent care needs from ear infections and rashes to abdominal pain, acute fractures and lacerations.
Through sponsorships, local nonprofit support and participation in community events, Dr. Turner and his team strive to make a meaningful impact beyond medical care. Deeply committed to supporting the community through various initiatives, they proudly sponsor The Center and the Chamber, contributing to their galas and golf tournaments. Additionally, the team participates in events like Lemonade Days (hosted by the Chamber) and Health Fairs (organized by The Center), and community involvement extends to sponsoring Golf Tournaments for the Boerne Police Foun-
dation and Hill Country Family Services as well as being the medical sponsor for the Boerne YMCA Turkey Trot. My Urgent Care locations also serve as a collection site for local initiatives such as Love Kendall County Kids (school supply donations) and Silver Santa (Christmas gift donations for homebound seniors).
SERVICES OFFERED:

DISCOVERING BOERNE: HOW VISIT BOERNE SHOWCASES THE
BEST OF THE COMMUNITY
Boerne is an oasis for history, culture and thriving local businesses, and leading the way in promoting the city as a top travel spot is Visit Boerne. As the city’s official marketing arm and funded through the Hotel Occupancy Tax, Visit Boerne takes charge in showcasing Boerne’s Old-World charm and modern-day amenities to visitors. Through their visitor guide, social media campaigns, newsletters and a comprehensive website featuring a full calendar of events, Visit Boerne ensures potential travelers and locals have all the information they need to enjoy the best of Boerne.
BRINGING VISITORS TO BOERNE
Visit Boerne is thoughtful and data-driven when it comes to its marketing and advertising efforts. By clearly understanding their audience and what makes Boerne appealing, they place targeted advertisements in key locations and are intentional with the content creators and influencers they choose to work with. The ultimate goal is to bring visitors into town while supporting local businesses and boosting the economy.
The success of these efforts is evident, with tourism in Boerne continuing to prosper, bringing in an influx of visitors who contribute to local hotels, restaurants and shops. Boerne’s reputation as a walkable, idyllic Hill Country getaway continues to grow, and Visit Boerne ensures the city stays on visitors’ radar.
EVENTS AND EXPERIENCES:
MAKING BOERNE A DESTINATION
The organization works to improve the Boerne experience with initiatives like the Boerne Sip & Stroll Passport, a digital program encouraging guests to discover the area’s growing craft beer and wine scene. Participants earn points for check-
ing in at various businesses, which add up to entries for an unforgettable Boerne getaway, including a luxurious stay at The Bevy Hotel, memorable dining and sipping experiences, plus more. Additional passport programs are in the works to enhance engagement further.
Moreover, Visit Boerne supports seasonal traffic-driving promotions during Easter and Halloween, providing treats, discounts and incentives to visit small businesses to ensure visitors and residents have fun and engaging reasons to explore Boerne’s diverse establishments. The city sees a significant boost in tourists and revenue during the holiday season. With events nearly every weekend between Thanksgiving and Christmas, annual festivities like Dickens on Main, which brought in more than 33,000 people in 2022, make it an especially fruitful time for local shops.
SUPPORTING LOCAL BUSINESS
Visit Boerne plays a pivotal role in ensuring that small businesses thrive alongside tourism. The Hill Country Mile is the historic shopping, arts and dining district that serves as Boerne’s

main attraction for visitors. With its charming storefronts, it’s the top reason many travelers choose Boerne as their destination. However, Visit Boerne strives to ensure that businesses outside the Hill Country Mile also benefit from tourism and includes these establishments in their advertising and promotional efforts, like the Sip & Stroll Passport. In doing so, they help increase awareness, ensure a well-rounded experience for visitors and support a strong local economy.
At Handmade on Main, a shop home to more than 25 local makers specializing in handcrafted goods, products range from natural and non-toxic home, bath and body products to plants to easy meal kits. Founded by Amy Bierstedt, who established National Handmade Day in 2018, Visit Boerne ensures that businesses like this receive well-deserved recognition.
DISCOVERING BOERNE’S HIDDEN CULINARY GEMS
Boerne’s flourishing culinary scene is supported by locals but attracts guests from neighboring cities to sample from a collection of fine dining restaurants representing a wide range of cuisines. A few standout favorites include:
• Cypress Grille: A long-time favorite for its elegant and comfortable atmosphere, professionally trained chefs and extensive wine list.
• Peggy’s On The Green: A contemporary interpretation of Southern heritage foods and classic American dishes from well-known San Antonio chef, Mark Bohanan.
• The Creek Restaurant: Exquisite service and a varied menu set in a historic landmark building with beautiful patio dining.
• Oben: A chic third-floor lounge offering premium cocktails and New American cuisine.
While Boerne’s more well-known locations draw a steady stream of visitors, there are lesser-known gems that add to the town’s diverse offerings. A handful of top picks include:
• Bumdoodlers: A beloved lunch destination known for its delicious sandwiches and made-from-scratch bread, pies, cheesecakes, soups and dressings.
• Mague’s Café: A family-owned and operated eatery with a loyal local following, serving up Tex-Mex and authentic Mexican food for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
• Mary’s Tacos: Frequently recommended by locals, this counter-serve spot is known for some of the best breakfast tacos around.
• Casa Amaya: Located a bit off the beaten path, but worth the trip for its incredible pupusas, tacos and other Honduran and Salvadoran flavors.
• Dark Side Brick Oven Pizza Co.: Dine on top-notch pizza while surrounded by a vast collection of 80s and 90s movie memorabilia.
These locations showcase Boerne's impressive culinary scene and prove that locals don't have to venture into San Antonio or
Austin for unique dining experiences — Boerne's restaurants provide a high-quality experience right in their own backyard. Additionally, two Farmers Markets in town (A Day at the Farm and Boerne Farmers Market) provide fresh produce for homecooked meals, along with handmade goods and a delightful taste of local life. Spend Saturday mornings at The Cibolo’s A Day at the Farm, or visit the Boerne Farmers Market every Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00pm, just steps from the Hill Country Mile on Blanco Road.
BEYOND THE HILL COUNTRY MILE
While the Hill Country Mile is a major draw, Boerne has much more to offer. Visit Boerne operates the Boerne Visitors Center where travelers can pick up guides, maps and recommendations from friendly locals eager to share their knowledge.
Outside the downtown area, Boerne offers gorgeous parks, trails and plenty of outdoor activities. The Cibolo Center for Conservation provides a peaceful place with hiking trails and educational programs, while Boerne’s breweries and wineries provide the perfect setting for a relaxing day trip. Cave Without a Name and Cascade Caverns, the oldest public touring cave in Texas, offer stunning underground adventures for nature lovers and families alike.
THE HILL COUNTRY MILE: A TREASURE FOR LOCALS, TOO
While well-known as a tourist spot, the Hill Country Mile is just as appealing to locals. With its variety of shops — locals
know it’s an excellent source for everything from home accessories, fashion for the entire family and gifts for any occasion, high-quality art galleries and events to support a thriving art scene, and locally-owned coffee shops and restaurants, residents have plenty of great places to enjoy the best the city has to offer.
Visit Boerne invites everyone to explore and support their local businesses, which they consider to be the heartbeat of the city. By shopping, dining and attending local events, residents help keep Boerne vibrant and thriving.
A COMMUNITY EFFORT
Through intentional and creative marketing, exciting promotions and ongoing support for local businesses, Visit Boerne is an essential partner in highlighting the city as a top travel destination. More than just a tourism organization, they connect with the community, making sure Boerne's charm and unique experiences reach a broad and engaged audience. Whether you’re a local looking to rediscover the gems in your own backyard or a visitor planning your next getaway, Visit Boerne makes it easy to explore, experience and enjoy everything this Hill Country treasure offers.
To stay updated on the latest events and promotions, browse VisitBoerne.org or follow them on social media. Or stop by the Boerne Visitors Center at 282 N. Main Street, located one block north of Main Plaza, from 8:00am to 5:00pm Mondays-Fridays, and 10:00am to 2:00pm on Saturdays.

FROM TEXAS SUMMERS TO THE OCCASIONAL WINTER CHILL: DESIGNING HOMES THAT ENDURE THE TEXAS CLIMATE
PASADERA BUILDERS IS RAISING
THE BAR ON HILL COUNTRY RESILIENCE
By Drew Henry :: Photography courtesy of Pasadera Builders
Living in the Texas Hill Country means working with, not against, the stunning Texas landscape. But designing and building a home here on the Ranch requires more than finding the best sweeping views. Texan homes need to withstand the scorching sun one season, and brace for a surprise freeze the next. For most homebuilders, this presents a challenge. For Pasadera Builders, it’s a call to innovate.
Led by founder Gabriel Garcia, Pasadera is redefining what it means to build luxury homes in Texas — homes that are not just beautiful, but thoughtfully engineered to stand up to the extremes. “The real wake-up call was the snowstorm in 2021,” Gabriel recalls. “People lost power for days. We decided we couldn’t let that happen to our homeowners again — but resilience goes way beyond adding a generator to your property.”
That storm, combined with a wave of transplants from colder states, prompted the team to rethink traditional Hill Country building practices. The goal? Create homes that stay comfortable no matter the season — and do so in a way that’s elegant, efficient and tailored to each individual lot Cordillera Ranch has to offer.
BUILDING WITH THE LAND, NOT AGAINST IT
“High-end custom homes should live like custom homes,” Gabriel says. That means avoiding cookiecutter floor plans and designing each structure to work with the land, not just sit on top of it.
At Pasadera, site orientation isn’t a footnote — it’s a first step. Gabriel and his team analyze wind patterns, sunlight exposure and topography before a single wall goes up. “You don’t always get to spin a house however you want,” he explains. “But even when the lot doesn’t allow a perfect north-facing view, we use architectural elements — like overhangs, window placement and rooflines — to optimize the natural benefits of the site.”
These design choices make a huge difference in Texas, where extreme temperatures are the norm. Take the example of a recent build where the air conditioning hadn’t even been connected yet. “I walked in on a 90° day and thought the AC was running. But it wasn’t. The home was just performing that well. And it is all thanks to the architectural and design planning we put in on the front end.”
THE INVISIBLE DETAILS THAT MAKE A BIG IMPACT
Pasadera’s builds go well beyond industry standards, especially when it comes to mechanical systems and materials. “We use higher fire-rated drywall and foam insulation to get better R-values,” Gabriel says. “It’s small things — just an eighth of an inch drywall difference — that compound over the whole house. It may seem small on the spec sheet, but it adds up to a big result and an efficient final product.”
Ventilation systems are another key part of the equation. Rather than relying on a single central air return, Pasadera integrates multiple smaller returns throughout the home. The result is a more efficient system that better circulates the air to maintain a stable interior climate, ultimately reducing energy costs. “Slower and longer is the way to go with cooling,” Gabriel notes. “And when you use a system with multiple returns and variable-speed fans, you don’t even need to touch the thermostat.”
Stone pavers dissipate heat more efficiently than concrete or porcelain, making outdoor areas feel cooler in the summer. Pools and water features are placed intentionally in the path of prevailing breezes, helping to cool the air passively. Gabriel says, “It’s about taking every detail and asking, ‘how can this help us regulate the home’s climate?’”
LIGHT, SHADE AND THE POWER OF THE BREEZE
Gabriel points out that natural light can be a double-edged sword. “People love big windows and bright rooms — until that direct light starts heating everything up,” he says. To solve this, Pasadera designs homes to bounce and filter light rather than letting it pour in directly. Low-E glass helps, but the real magic comes from thoughtful design: shaded patios, deep overhangs and exterior materials that absorb heat without trapping it.
And yes, those breezes you feel while lounging on a Cordillera Ranch porch? Pasadera chases them. “We orient outdoor spaces toward the southeast — where the Gulf breeze comes from — so even when it’s 98 degrees, the space still feels livable.”
Pasadera also favors natural materials inside and out.
MORE THAN LUXURY — IT’S LONGEVITY
At the end of the day, Gabriel believes that true luxury is about how a home feels to live in, not just how it looks in photos. “Anyone can build a pretty house. We’re building homes that perform,” he says. “Homes that keep you cool in the summer, warm in the winter, and give you more use of your space throughout the year.”
And it shows. Pasadera homeowners report lower utility bills, more consistent indoor comfort and — perhaps most importantly — peace of mind. As climate extremes become the new norm, Pasadera Builders is proving that smart design, rooted in both science and artistry, is the ultimate upgrade.

DISCOVER THE SCENIC TRAILS IN THE SPRINGS OF CORDILLERA RANCH
By Kevin Koether, CRPOA General Manager
Cordillera Ranch provides over 20 miles of interconnected walking trails and nearly 100 acres of park land. More than 11 miles of trails in Cordillera Ranch and an expanding trail system in The Springs of Cordillera Ranch offer property owners a delightful way to immerse themselves in the breathtaking beauty and native charm of the Texas Hill Country.
As The Springs of Cordillera Ranch continues to develop, so do the enchanting walking trails that wind through this picturesque landscape. Currently, The
Springs boasts an impressive nine miles of scenic trails, inviting explorers to hike and discover its wonders.
The trails are comprised of decomposed granite, while more recent trails have been enhanced with a blend of decomposed granite and Portland cement, ensuring stability and longevity. They meander through The Springs, down Cordillera Springs Road, weaving through the cul-de-sac and ascending to Panther Bend. From there, hikers can venture onto Monterey Trail, with the option to turn onto Sotol Lane or to continue on to Vaquero Pass. The trails intertwine through Ledgestone Trail, along Landmark Ridge and offer many routes to explore.
The trails offer a prime view of Hill Country native vegetation, including multiple species of oak trees, some persimmons and juniper, along with a variety of other native plants. When walking the trails, be alert for local wildlife as well; the trails provide ample opportunities to spot white tail deer, axis and wild turkeys in their natural habitat.
