The works shown in this portfolio have been chosen to illustrate my development as a student of architecture, techinally and mentally. From early on, I have enjoyed creating open, communal spaces and being able to experiment with the concepts that shape public and private domains.

Second Year

Lawrence Discovery Center The Lawrence Discovery Center serves to unite the community of Lawrence through providing education spaces for people of all ages. The facilities provided in the program include classrooms, workshops, media centers, and more. Adults and children of all ages are able to take classes in the center or simply go and relax in private and public spaces.

The building’s location relative to Burcham Park and the railroad tracks not only serves as a viable learning experience about the train system and Kansas River, but also invites the community to further explore the park after a day at the Discovery Center.

Second Year

Burcham Park Observation Tower There has been no formal entrance into Burcham Park and often new residents do not know of its existance due to lack of signage or promotion. The purpose of the Burcham Park Observation Tower is to be a recognizable land mark that attracts people into the park.

The buidling also serves to be an aid to the population of Lawrence that resides in the park by providing accesable restrooms and more. An observation deck curves around the third floor to induce curiosity in explorition further into the park.

First Year

The Quilt Project The Quilt Project was the first conceptual assignment that was given of the semester and reinforced the benefits of trial and error. Several models and technical illustrations were created within a span of two weeks and each attempt resulted in structurally stronger products.
