CASE STUDY: SUPABARN

ABOUT SUPABARN

Supabarn is a family-owned supermarket chain operating in the Australian Capital Territory and New South Wales. Established in 1991, the chain now owns a total of 6 stores. Supabarn is committed to providing the freshest possible products and actively supports the local community by prioritizing locally sourced goods and maintaining a community-oriented approach in its business practices. Supabarn installed the first Consillion Cash Recycler a decade ago and now has six devices distributed across all stores. The implementation of these devices has streamlined cash reconciliation processes, making them more efficient and traceable across all locations. This innovation supports Supabarn’s commitment to providing exceptional service by reducing the time staff spend on cash management tasks, and allowing them to focus more on customer service and operational excellence.

“We have been using these machines for almost 10 years and have seen significant savings across our business. Not only have we reduced staff costs, but we have also minimised concerns about employee theft. We find Consillion’s service and support to be highly responsive and helpful whenever issues arise.”

Supabarn, ACT & NSW

THE CHALLENGES

Before the implementation of the cash recycler, Supabarn faced several challenges, including discrepancies in cash handling, concerns about security and theft, and the significant time spent on cash management and reconciliation. These issues consumed a considerable amount of time for managers and staff, detracting from customer service. Supabarn also aimed to streamline their cash processes during the start of the day, end of the day, and shift changes to save time and reduce unnecessary labor costs.

ACHIEVED OUTCOMES

Increased operational efficiency, reducing and reallocating time spent on cash

Improved security. Reduced internal theft and cash discrepancies

Reduction of time spent in reconciliation

OUR SOLUTION AT SUPABARN STORES

Supabarn addressed these challenges by implementing two different Consillion Cash Recycling Solutions tailored to the specific needs of each store. The RCS800/HCM solution was installed in larger stores with higher cash volumes, while the RCS402/504 solution was deployed in stores with smaller to medium cash volumes. Each store positioned its cash recycler at the front, near the registers, for easy access.

With these solutions, Supabarn has reduced discrepancies and the risk of theft, significantly enhancing security. The implementation has also provided cash visibility across all stores, simplifying the reconciliation process and saving valuable time. The time gained at the beginning and end of the day have led to substantial labor cost savings, and allowed managers and staff to reallocate their time towards customer service and more critical tasks.

Instant cash visibility across the 6 Stores

“Deploying the Consillion Cash Recycler has significantly reduced start and finish times, decreased discrepancies, and allowed store managers to spend more time on the floor. Consillion’s Software enables real-time safe audits across all stores, simplifying reconciliation and providing instant cash visibility”

CASE STUDY: SPUDSHED FRESH FOOD MARKET

ABOUT SPUDSHED

Spudshed Fresh Food Market is an independent Western Australian family business operating 17 stores. The business was founded in 1960 as a market garden and in 1998, Tony along with his brothers opened their first Spudshed store. Together with their sons, they are still actively involved in the day-to-day operations of their farms and stores. Spudshed offers a wide variety of fresh produce, as well as meat, dairy, and grocery items. The majority of the fresh produce is sourced directly from their farms.

Spudshed has now installed six Consillion Cash Recyclers in their stores and will continue rolling out devices in the remaining stores in the coming months. The main reasons for investing in cash recycling were to reduce discrepancies and reconciliation time, streamline processes at the start-ofday, end-of-day, and shift change, and reduce labour costs.

“The Consillion Cash Recycler has freed up valuable manager time by shifting standard cash handling tasks to cashiers, allowing our managers and supervisors to spend more time on the shop floor. Furthermore, accuracy in conting has lead to less time being spent in reconciliation”

OUR SOLUTION AT SPUDSHED

This has reduced cash movement in the stores and the time spent on cash handling tasks, allowing managers and supervisors to reallocate their time and focus on customers and other more important tasks.

Reduced Cash Movement in the Store

“The Consillion team have a deep understanding of their product and the retail industry. Before buying the device, Adam visited one of our stores, mapped out our cash handling process at the time, and showed us what it would be like postimplementation. After seeing the benefits in our environment and realising the time we were spending on managing cash manually, investing in the cash recycler was an obvious choice. ”
