OPEN THROUGH JUNE 1
Utility Box Art Project - Phase 2
"The Building Blocks of Hurst"
Community built on connectionTHEME
The City of Hurst is accepting proposals through June 1 under the theme "The Building Blocks of Hurst."
Proposals submitted under the theme can include any design inspired by Hurst, including but not limited to Bell Helicopter, L.D. Bell High School, Tarrant County College Northeast Campus, North East Mall, veterans, first responders, and frontline workers.
Selection Process
The competition is open to artists of all ages residing in DFW, giving preference to Hurst residents. A selection committee will screen proposals for completeness, and winners will be selected based on appropriateness, creativity, craftsmanship, and adherence to the theme. The selection committee will choose a winner and notify them via email and/or phone.
Winning designs will remain on the assigned utility box for a minimum of three years. Should damage occur to the box prior to that, the City will reinstall the same design. After three years, should the integrity of the wrap start to fade, damage to the box occur, or a new box is installed, a new design will be added to the box.
Design Criteria
All designs should be the original work of the artist.
Designs should not include any trademarks, brands, or any sort of advertisements.
Artists should create the design to flow across all faces of the utility box and reflect a unified work of art. Please note that designs that include large patterns and/or bright, bold colors work best on the boxes.

The design should include little to no print, as it distracts drivers when they try to read.
