CODY CATTLE COMPANY Annual Bull Sale
FEBRUARY 22, 2025 AT 1:00 P.M. // AT THE RANCH IN SCANDIA, KS

FEBRUARY 22, 2025 AT 1:00 P.M. // AT THE RANCH IN SCANDIA, KS
As you age, they say that the days are long and the years are short. That seems to be correct. It feels like we were just taking these calves to grass, and we were excited about the possibilities of what they could be. Fast forward to today, and we are pleased with the offering.
The cattle market has been strong and top genetics have been rewarded in record fashion. We’ve noticed more and more feeders putting faith in our genetics for cattle sold on the grid, and they’re seeing quality grades comparable to straight blacks and without yield grade 4s and 5s. With packers demanding more pounds per carcass during the US cowherd reduction, the Char cross has proven to be the most efficient and well-suited for the task of producing the highest red meat yield.
Something Charolais enthusiasts need to be beating their chest about is the lack of Beef Congestive Heart Failure seen in more British-based cattle. With the amount of input in a feeder calf, losing one to BCHF will diminish the slim margin in feeding.
Choose Charolais: Choose hybrid vigor, choose free pounds, choose to feed an animal that’s designed to reach 1,500 lbs efficiently and increase your profitability.
I feel that Charolais genetics have a distinct advantage and huge opportunity to take a larger share of the market. The signals are directing it to more smokes and butterscotch calves. If you’re as excited about the possibilities of producing efficient cattle, without sacrificing carcass quality, we encourage you to review the offering and invite you to our sale on February 22.
These bulls are bred, fed and designed for the current market conditions. All bulls are guaranteed PA free. Please call with questions or to arrange a time to see the sale offering.

PEN OF BULLS
Homozygous polled and PA-free (by pedigree)
Here comes the boom! This was the heaviest bull at weaning, and he continues to crank it as a yearling. We’ve sold several full-sib brothers to him and they have averaged over a 21 inch ribeye. There’s genetic power and performance in this guy and being out of the great 6644 dam only adds to his value.
Newt Dobbs is a full sib to 4023 and here is the soft haired, good looking (yet rugged and durable) brother. With his full brothers averaging more than $15K and his open sisters averaging more than $11K, it shows the demand for this kind of high quality, productive stock.
Here’s a bull that became a man after he was weaned. This guy has turned it on and is starting to look like he should have went to Denver with his brothers. Extended power bull with extra mass and looks.
4059’s out of an up-and-coming young cow that’s working her way into the donor pen. The last bull we brought to Denver with similar added bulk, mass and density—while maintaining structural quality and good look—was CCC WC Resource 417 P. He ended up siring more than 3,200 calves and is still relevant 11 years later. Breeders with a production mindset that don’t want to sacrifice quality, pay attention here.
4037’s out of an Inception cow that’s had 1 heifer and 2 bulls. As a heifer, her Probity son made the trip to Denver and now her second son is on the way as well. This guy is super extended and clean made, while still squaring up bold behind his blade and having extra pin width and dimension. This one’s a rare find with extra power, shape, and looks.
These next 5 flushmate brothers came from a coop herd out east where they had to survive on fescue and brome. They came in skinnier than ours but have taken to feed and shaped up really nice. Their full brother last year was a highlight of the fall division and went to Thad Peterson.
4036 is backed by a 10-year-old cow that consistently produces. This bull has all the pieces to be a production breeding bull for years. Lot 12 was just shy of an 800 lb weaning
He’s
Lot 21 has a 116 weaning ratio to adjust to 919 lbs. Long-time friend and customer, Andy Baker, selected a maternal brother last year, and he looks like a man now.
Here is a maternal brother to Sunflower, a top prospect purchased by our friends, the Hebberts, last year. He has the same look, mass, and structural quality of his big brother.
Lot 26 is an exceptionally well built, well balanced prospect that’s backed by a beautiful-uddered, heavy-milking cow.
His maternal brother, “Miles”, sold to our good friends, the Brobergs and Hebberts. Pea Eye
profile as his big brother.
We got some sad news the other day that Gangsta passed away at a partner’s place. We will be AI’ing to him aggressively in the future. We’ve had great luck on him with heifers these first 2 years.
These Gangsta calves are right for the times. Calving ease with extra shape, growth and carcass credentials.
Here’s a growthy prospect backed by 2 of our favorites: Ad Astra and Redemption’s full sister. Not a lot of guess work to figure out here.
Deets is a Probity x Gangsta’s dam. This thing popped out of the womb at 72 lbs and already had the herd bull presence and attitude. We’ve had several collegiate judging teams working out at the ranch, and some of the descriptive words they’ve used for him are: masculine, rugged, durable, dense, hard-footed, and big-nutted.
4048 is a dense power house that’s likely to rub the mirrors off your truck and lick a hole in your pocket. He loaded with personality and mass. Good stock that’s likely to always be in the way.
consigned this bull that Bill bred before his untimely death. He’s a younger one in the sale but he’s damn good
and
The Cody Cattle Co. Collegiate Scholarship Program was developed as a way to give back to the Charolais and beef industries. We believe that one of the best ways we can give back is through supporting youth in their continuing education efforts.
One $1,000 dollar scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating high school senior or current college student for the upcoming academic year. Due the caliber of applicants in the inaugural year (2021), CCC presented two additional scholarships in the amount of $500 each.
When we breed for high quality, high growth, complete livestock—with added look: 3528 is what we strive to produce.
He’s backed by some of our favorite pedigrees and cow families being a Probity (Rushmore x 6644) x Mescalito ( Milestone x Resource - 7M) x Ad Astra’s grand dam (Doubletree - New Standard - 7M)
With 3 shots of 7M within the first 3 generations, quality is assured. CCC Lonesome Dove 3528 P may be as good of a prospect as we’ve ever produced.
He would be a full brother to lots 34-35 in the spring division. Same foot quality and flexibility while offering the added dimension, width, and maternal strengths.
These half-blood copper bulls have been in good demand these past few sales. This guy would work great on younger females or mature cows. Extra rib, mass and doability…if he gets skinny, your cows are probably in tough shape.
Sit up and pay attention here! An Ad Astra x Mescalito dam! This guy will likely be weighing in at a ton by sale time. It’s rare to have so much performance and mass in such an attractive and well-built package. This is a purebred-worthy bull.
This guy’s the older brother to 3506, and he possesses the same added extension and rugged good looks. This guy continues to impress the closer we get to sale day.
Lot 45 is a full brother to Gangsta, the high seller in the 2022 sale that went to Brobergs, Hebberts, and Eickoffs. With Gangsta’s early death, it allows 3502 to write his own story in the Charolais history books. He’s about as close to a clone as you can make one with all green bars on the charts and his data suggests he’s heifer safe. Good stock that’s progressive on paper.
Another full brother to Gangsta that’s been all gas since weaning time. This guy is dense, massive, bold and dimensional. If performance and productivity are your priority, 3505 is a good place to start. Did we mention that 9043 is about as pretty of an uddered cow we’ve seen?
3517’s a full brother to Ad Astra. This guy continues to work his way up the sale order. These Blue Values are a bit later-maturing but the more they mature the better they get. With the way we like our Ad Astras, we’re sure that 3517 will follow suit.
He was bred to be a power and performance bull for use on cows and he doesn’t disappoint. He’s in the top 8 percent or better in the breed for weaning weight, yearling weight, fat, and marbling. If you’re serious about retaining ownership in your calves, circle lot 51.
Lot 66 is solid on paper and better in person. He’s one of the younger fall bulls but structurally he’s about as good as any of them. Great feet and legs with added mass and scrotal are a good recipe to make a 10-year-old herd sire.
