Special thanks to our 2024 sponsors and community partners:
On Saturday, June 14, from 11 am to 2 pm, members of the community ascended to the Cloverdale Common where Central Etobicoke Community Hub Initiative (CECHI), a local not-for-profit organization that advocates for the creation of new community spaces and the expansion of community services in Central Etobicoke, hosted their first Etobicoke Community Fair.
Approximately 250+ guests attended the three-hour event where they explored over 30 government and community services and organizations, such as Arab Community Centre of Toronto, Etobicoke Climate Action and the Toronto Public Library who came out to provide information about opportunities available to seniors, families, youths and newcomers in the local community services, and volunteer sectors. Deputy Mayor and City Councillor Amber Morely, MP James Maloney and MP Yvan Baker were all in attendance to engage with the community.
Cloverdale is proud to continue the tradition of being a prime junction for the local community to capture opportunities like this Community Fair, that bring residents together to provide improvement to the quality of life for all in Etobicoke.
Arts Etobicoke's kicks off its newest six-exhibit series Intersections: Threads of Tradition and Identity, with 'Cultural Intersections Around Food'.
Ar
ts Etobicoke, in partnership with QuadReal and Cloverdale, are thrilled to present a new yearlong art exhibition series “Intersections: Threads of Tradition and Identity.” This exhibition series will feature six unique shows, each exploring various intersections of traditions and identities with different cultures to celebrate our shared experiences.
Building on the success of last year’s “Roots” series, which honoured heritages and customs based on countries of origin, “Intersections” aims to understand where different traditions and identities merge to form community connections and bring people together.
Join Arts Etobicoke every six weeks, at the Cloverdale Common, as they delve into six intersecting themes—food, clothing, generations, disabilities, language and gender—to witness how different cultures and identities come together and interweave. Evreyone is invited to celebrate these shared aspects through a series of exhibitions brought to you by local Etobicoke artists.
For the first edition, artists are displaying works that explore cultural intersections around food. This theme invites 14 artists to delve into the role of food in cultural identity, tradition, and community.

Amanda who is currently living and working in Toronto, Canada, graduated from OCADU in 2023 with a Bachelor of fine Art in Sculpture/Installation. Her work is comprised of mixed media sculptures often incorporating textiles, woodworking and found objects, and is concerned with themes relating to the body, specifically seeking to define the abstract space the body takes up, be it emotional, societal or psychological. Through certain practices and materials, which have a history that she feels has either been imposed on her, or she wants to conform to, she would like to consider the historical and sociological precedent of her making in order to build a relationship with a history that traverses rigid structures of time, space and language. Her work explores how these structures limit the expression of oneself and one thought, and where they break down and can thus be manipulated. By doing this, she is able to renegotiate her semiotic understanding of objects and play with the embalming of meaning onto new ones.
Jan is an emerging visual artist living in Etobicoke, Ontario. She primarily creates in oils and pastels, although earlier artwork included watercolour and acrylic paintings. Since retiring as a special education teacher in 2005, Jan has studied art continuously by taking numerous and varied classes every year. Many of her works are based on photographs from trips around the world and serve as her personal travel journal.
Kryslyne-Mai is a Filipina-Canadian interdisciplinary artist based in Toronto. She works predominantly as an actor, singer and musician in the performing arts industry showcasing original Canadian plays and musicals. In addition, Kryslyne is 1⁄4 of a collective titled Passing Strangers, a group of singermusicians that busk through the streets of Toronto attempting to evoke hope and spark change through original songs. Through her writing she hopes to heal, to encounter unspoken narratives about her diasporic experience and to form a bridge between this life and the mystical that surrounds. She is currently creating a manuscript for her collection and a mini-zine release for her crafting itches. Upon sharing, Kryslyne hopes to inspire others to heal and harness their superpowers.

A message from Stefan Pal, Property Manager, Retail East
As we head into the second half of the year, there are so many exciting things planned for the Fall of 2024.
During our most recent coffee chat, the operations team discussed the capital roofing and asphalt initiatives, that will be taking place in late August. These programs allow us to improve areas in need of repair, and improve the overall quality, performance, and aesthetics of the site. Stay tuned for more information regarding the timing, location, and duration of the projects.
As we continue through the remainder of the year, we also anticipate improvements to the south shopping area, as we look to reinvigorate several customer amenities in the common area. Lastly, we look forward to the return of RELISH The Foodie Event and the launch of The Experience Centre. Cloverdale is thriving more than ever. Housekeeping staff have Cloverdale looking incredibly beautiful inside and out, while Security has been diligent in helping us ensure the safety of everyone who visits our wonderful shopping centre. The introduction of Fairgrounds has resulted in increased traffic, both on-site and through our social platforms. Our maintenance programs are ensuring limited repairs required throughout the shopping centre, which
ultimately lowers the financial impact to our tenants and provides a more meaningful shopping experience for customers.
I want to personally thank everyone for their engagement and ongoing patience with news surrounding the redevelopment of Cloverdale. We continue to take steps toward providing all tenants and stakeholders with accurate information about how the property will change over the coming years, and what the impact will be to each individual tenant. We know that there are still a number of unknowns relating to the evolution of Cloverdale, and are committed to providing that information to you, upon confirmation amongst our development team and surrounding partners. If you wish to learn more, please visit the Cloverdale Common, visit us online at https://mycloverdale.com/community/vision/, or speak with a member of the management staff.

Owner, Cloverdale Convienence
A familiar face has returned to Cloverdale— Chirayu Shah. Originally from International News Store, Chirayu is back with a new shop: Cloverdale Convivence, located next to Winners at the north end of the Centre. Let’s get reaquainted with Chirayu!
It has been a little while since you were last a tenant at Cloverdale. What called you back to the Centre?
When I frequently visited the mall to do my shopping, whether it was for services like mobile repair or purchasing my eyeglasses, I would bump into customers that used to come to my store for almost nine years, and they would ask, “Why don’t you come back to Cloverdale, again?” So, that got me motivated to try again, here at Cloverdale!
You first came to Cloverdale in June of 2013 with the International News Store, and were a part of the Cloverdale community for nine years, tell me about your fondest memory from that time?
My fondest memories are the great relationships I have attained with mall management, as well as customers. They have always appreciated the way that I work, my customer service skills, how I conduct my business, and my honesty. It has always made me proud to continue to provide the best service.
What is your background in retail?
Back in India, I worked in my own retail business. Then when I came to Canada in 2006, I worked for Petro Canada where I gained more customer service skills, and then used those skills working at my previous store (INS) here at Cloverdale.
What was your first job?
My first job was as a Civil Engineer in construction. What do you like to do when not at your store? Are there any extra curriculars that you enjoy?
In my spare time I love to play badminton. I would like to soon play Pickleball here at the courts with my son!
What are you most excited about for the future of Cloverdale Convenience?
Because this is my own brand, and coming from working for a franchise, I am more eager than ever to expand my business, especially within the new redevelopment of Cloverdale.
Is there anything else you would like to share with or say to our Cloverdale tenants?
I am happy to be back at Cloverdale. Please stop by anytime and say "Hi!".
