Connections
For the Chamber and its members, connections are golden. Making them. Keeping them. Expanding them. Facilitating these connections is what the Chamber has been doing since 1934. When we hear members talk about the connections they’ve made, it affirms our mission. On the cover are just some of the faces (l. to r., Heather Tafelski, Ben Lichnovsky, and Cherellé Simon) who tell their stories of connection in this issue of... Connections!

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
On behalf of the Chamber, I’d like to thank EVERYONE who had a hand in making our 39th annual Lobsterfest such a tremendous success. From the delicious steak and lobster dinner (thank you, especially, to our Lobsterfest cooking team!), to the silent and live auction donors (and bidders), to the players and volunteers of the golf tournament at Panorama, we couldn’t have done it without your participation. Most especially, we thank presenting sponsor Woodforest National Bank, dinner sponsor Fidium Fiber, and golf tournament sponsor Howard Hughes Holdings, Inc.
As we slide into the holiday season, which is certainly a time of connecting and reconnecting, it’s appropriate that this issue focuses on the many ways in which our members connect, not only with each other but with the Chamber itself. We hope you find their stories engaging and inspiring.
Finally, it’s time to look forward to 2026 and the annual Chairman’s Ball. We will honor outgoing chairman Clint Nichols as he passes the gavel to incoming chairman Guy Barker at Margaritaville Lake Resort on Saturday, January 24.
As always, shop local (and shop Chamber members!) this holiday season.

AUGUST TO OCTOBER 2025
GATHER & VOLUNTEER

YOUNG PROFESSIONALS LEARN VALUE OF COMMUNITY SERVICE
In addition to an exciting networking outing in August to the new Tailgators on Lake Conroe, the Chamber’s Young Professionals Network has been busy giving back to community and hosting a panel discussion featuring leaders in service.
The September professional development session included sage advice from Amanda Anders (representing the Conroe Noon Lions Club), Rebecca McDonald (representing the Rotary Club of Conroe) and Dr. Tobin Redwine (representing the Montgomery County Fair Association). Each gave their perspective on the importance of giving back to the community – and how it has helped them advance in their careers.
Finally, things got a little spooky as YPN hosted its second annual Halloween party for the residents of New Danville in October. Dressed in their scariest costumes, they gave the Wranglers an event to remember, including a special Halloween dance-off (a ‘Monster Bash’) that rocked the outdoor covered Pavilion.

DIPLOMATS ARE THE ‘GLUE’ THAT MAKE CONNECTIONS STICK

To say our Chamber wouldn’t be the same without its Diplomat Team is quite accurate. Since 1965, our Diplomats have been the backbone of the Chamber, extending the reach of our staff and providing our members and guests with secondto-none hospitality. Creating connections is key to the Chamber’s mission; Diplomats are the glue that makes these connections stick! From volunteering at networking events and luncheons to assisting at special events like Lobsterfest and Chairman’s Ball, Diplomats stay busy throughout the year.
Twice annually, the window is opened for prospective Diplomats to apply to join the team. This fall, we are excited to announce our newest members:
Paola Anderson (Realtor, CB&A)
Heather Tafelski (Social Indoor)
Jessica Wisnoski (FASTSIGNS Conroe)
If you are interested in becoming a Chamber Diplomat, the next opportunity to apply will be in March 2026. Look for notices in the weekly eFYI newsletter!

CONNECTING IS THE NAME OF THE GAME
MEMBERS TELL US ABOUT THE MOST VALUABLE CONNECTIONS THEY’VE MADE VIA THE CHAMBER
Connections. That’s really what the Chamber is about. Making them. Strengthening them. Expanding them.
For our members, connections are gold. Whether it’s finding new business, enhancing the brand, assisting with advocacy, or simply making new friends, the Chamber has served as the “great connector” for the Conroe/Lake Conroe region since 1934.
When we hear stories of connection, it warms our heart – and affirms our mission. The stories that follow come directly from our members. They were asked about the most valuable connection (MVC) they’ve made via the Chamber. Some had trouble pointing to just one.
“I honestly can’t narrow it down to just one,” said Heather Tafelski, owner of Social Indoors – North Houston. “The truth is, the Conroe/ Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce itself has been my MVC!”
Nonetheless, we were thrilled to hear from members about the powerful connections they’ve made with other Chamber members. Here they are!

From the moment I met Marcus Wilson at Assured Partners a Gallagher company, he has been laser-focused on connecting local business professionals with each other. He has put forth significant effort in understanding my business and other businesses enough to make “Red Hot Introductions” when connecting others - not just cold referrals. I value his expertise in his field, and his willingness to help others grow their businesses. We initially met at a Fun After Five, where we set up a time to have lunch to learn more about each other’s businesses.
Since then, we have reconnected at Morning Mingle, Fun After Five, and a Ribbon Cutting, in addition to in-depth phone calls/Teams calls to educate one another on our goals, processes, and ideal clients/referrals. I know firsthand that he is doing the same with several other business professionals, which shows how committed he is to building a stronger business community!
- Ben Lichnovsky, Cole & Taylor Insurance Agency
SONYA & COLIN

My favorite Chamber connection happened in 2020 when Amazing Window Cleaners sponsored our first Morning Mingle event, hosted by McKenzie’s BBQ. My husband and I were sharing our story—how we started, why we started, and the services we offer: window cleaning, gutter cleaning, and pressure washing for both residential and commercial clients. Colin McKenzie and his
family have a beautiful restaurant with floor-toceiling windows, and during our presentation something unexpected happened—our biggest competitor showed up and began cleaning the windows right then and there! Colin was embarrassed, but we used it as an impromptu “show & tell,” demonstrating exactly how we would handle the job if we were hired. Everyone laughed, and what could have been awkward created a lasting bond. From that moment, McKenzie’s BBQ became one of our most loyal customers and one of our strongest Chamber connections. Over the past five years, we’ve not only worked with Colin and his team, but we’ve also served together on Chamber committees and supported one another’s businesses. It has been a true business-tobusiness partnership built on trust, respect, and community spirit. Plus, our team always looks forward to enjoying McKenzie’s delicious BBQ after a job well done! -Sonya Brazeal, Amazing Window Cleaners
ERIKA & HEATHER

Heather Tafelski, owner/operator of Social Indoor has proven an invaluable contact. We met at a Chamber event last year and eventually collaborated on a marketing idea that has provided both of us with positive outcomes. As our business continues to grow, we always seek out new ways to market. Social Indoor provided a solution that was different than other marketing efforts we had made before and has provided success for our location. Heather has also introduced us to other excellent business contacts which is what the Chamber is all about, businesses helping one another.
– Erika Sumner, Chick-fil-A in Montgomery
JESSICA & CYNDI
When asked about the most valuable connection within the Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber, my answer is clear: Cyndi and Joe with Turrango’s Dry Firing Range & Training Facility. Turrango’s is not just a shooting range— it’s an innovative, family-friendly environment that blends safety, fun, and cuttingedge simulation technology. By providing a hightech experience without live firearms, it creates an accessible and welcoming space for every skill level. For our security officers, Turrango’s has been a game-changer. It allows us to assess individual abilities, sharpen critical skills, and build stronger teamwork through realistic defensive scenarios and engaging training exercises. Beyond professional development, it has become a trusted place for growth, connection, and collaboration. Turrango’s isn’t simply a Chamber connection— it’s a partnership that continues to elevate our team’s performance and strengthen our commitment to safety and excellence. – Jessica Hogland, Ranger Guard of Conroe
CYNDI & JESSICA

Choosing just one connection as the most valuable is extremely difficult, because every single person I’ve connected with through the Chamber has been such a valuable part of our journey. However, one of the connections that stands out for Joe and me is the one we built with Jessica Hogland with Ranger Guard of Conroe. It all began when we requested a referral from Gigi Peacock for marketing. She referred us to a new member. Since that member understood our business, she introduced us to Jessica at a Morning Mingle event. Right away, Jessica’s professionalism stood out. That introduction grew into a meaningful business relationship and an ongoing connection that we value. Through that event, we were able to collaborate with Jessica and her team by providing Turrango’s as training facility on our shooting simulators for their security team prior to going to the live range. Jessica not only brought her group once, but she continued to return with her team several times. That consistency has been both an honor and a tremendous support for our business. The value of this connection goes far beyond just the business side. Jessica’s willingness to bring her team to our facility for training speaks volumes about her leadership and confidence she places in local businesses. It has helped us grow, build credibility, and strengthen ties within our community. For us, the Chamber has always been about more than networking, it’s about relationships like the one we’ve built with Jessica Hogland.
– Cyndi Turrigiano, Turrango’s Dry Firing Range & Training Facility
NICK & CHERELLE
Cherelle is such a great connection to have! She met a student that recently graduated (from) film school and we were able to connect that student to a high-profile producer, which I would have loved when I first started out. Cherelle is excellent at getting people connected, I know that student will greatly benefit from her connection!
– Nick Plunk, Plunk Productions

I would love to nominate Erika Sumner as my MVC for the Chamber. Walking into my first Morning Mingle I didn’t know what to expect and honestly was a little nervous being new with RSCC. Erika was the first person to greet me with a smile and kind voice. She helped me more than she knows that day and continues to make sure and see how I’m doing at events and see if I need anything. She always offers me kind words as well as a seat next to her. I hope she knows how much I appreciate it. – Wendy Albright, Rodgers Stein Chiropractic Center
ANDREA & CYNDI

My most valuable connection is Cyndi Turrigiano. We first met at a Chick-fil-A breakfast, and from the moment she walked in, I was struck by her radiant smile and the genuine warmth she carries. She immediately made me feel welcome, and that first impression has proven to be exactly who she is: an endlessly positive and uplifting person. Cyndi is the kind of individual who always sees the glass as half full. No matter what life throws at her, she approaches it with optimism, grace, and compassion. She has a heart for others that goes far beyond words. What makes this connection so valuable for me and my business is her unwavering encouragement. As entrepreneurs, we all face moments of doubt and uncertainty, but Cyndi is the first to notice when someone
is struggling. She is quick to offer a hug, a kind word, or a thoughtful reminder to keep moving forward. Her support has been instrumental in helping me push through challenging times and remain confident in the path I am pursuing. Beyond that, her outlook is contagious. Being around Cyndi inspires me to adopt that same positive perspective, which has had a ripple effect on how I engage with my own clients and colleagues. She embodies true connection, and I feel fortunate to have her not only as a business contact but also as a friend.
– Andrea Katen, Avenity Business Solutions
KAREN & CYNDI

Cyndi Turrigiano with Turrango’s has been a wonderful connection for me both personally and professionally. I learned about (Turrango’s) during a commercial at a Chamber Breakfast. At Journey Home Maternity Home, we look for fun activities to do with our pregnant and new moms. Turrangos offers fun games to play together AND educational safety classes that teach women self-defense and gun safety. We have taken them up on the offer of moms shooting for free for Mother’s Day. They came back laughing with stories and having made a deeper connection with staff. As a grandparent of a teenage boy, Turrango’s is also a great place for my husband and I to connect with our grandson. It can be more challenging to find activities to do when children hit the teen years! There is something about being together with a little competition thrown in and lots of laughter that builds relationships and happy memories. – Karen Gould, Journey Home

Our internet connection was not so good at our Madisonville location and our contract was expiring soon. I made an inquiry with MidSouth and found out that they had laid fiber to most businesses on the square but not on our side of the street. I was fortunate enough to make a connection with Dustin Timm with MidSouth Fiber at that time. He called me and said it is coming very soon. He called me again within a couple of weeks to say they were done and we could get signed up right away. We got it all installed then he followed up with me. I said I didn’t think something was right. He went out there to find out that the old internet service was still connected, unbeknownst to us. He had the issue resolved quickly and we now have great service. What I appreciate most is his follow up and follow through. Thanks, Dustin!
– Mary Blancett, Legacy Title & Abstract
JOSH & BEN

I met Ben Lichnovsky at my very first Chamber event (wasn’t even a member yet!) Ben helped introduce me to numerous partners within the Chamber that helped me grow my business, both directly and indirectly. These connections helped me land my largest client to date!
– Josh Davies, Mosquito Hunters
CAROLINE & JOHN

Having joined the Conroe Chamber in 2007 when I started Whitestone Printing in Conroe, I have met so many wonderful people and built so many personal relationships through the events that the Chamber offers. It would be hard to pick just one, as my friendships are foremost to me and above any business that we may transact. I would rather help others to strive and obtain their goals. To me the Chamber does more than advocate for business and government, etc. I think they are in the business of creating relationships that will be around forever. I will say my First Methodist Conroe Pastor John Wayne McMann, has spiritually helped me and mentored me along even though he graduated from Texas A&M. So, if I must pick one, it would be John Wayne. He will always make time for you even though he leads a big church and planting another church along with a wonderful wife and three kids. – Caroline Mason, Whitestone Printing
DENNIS & JAMIE

I made a connection with Jamie Speake (with Perigee Networks) who provides a service that many of our business customers need when considering a switch in their internet service. We have collaborated on many customers’ projects and often rekindle and realign during Chamber socials. – Dennis Castillo, Tachus Fiber Internet
ED & DAINTEE
My most valuable Chamber connection has been with Daintee Hurst-Dietz. I first met Daintee at a Chamber networking luncheon, where her approachable professionalism and genuine interest in collaboration made an immediate impression. From that initial conversation, she followed up promptly, and our connection quickly developed into a relationship that has had tangible value for my business and for our nonprofit mission. Daintee has been more than a professional contact— she has been a connector. She has consistently introduced me to individuals and organizations aligned with our mission, opening doors that I could not have reached on my own. These introductions have not only expanded our visibility within the Chamber but also created direct opportunities to secure support, partnerships, and resources critical to sustaining our programs. Her commitment to building authentic relationships, rather than transactional ones, reflects the true purpose of Chamber membership. In a world where many conversations remain surface-level, Daintee goes deeper—listening, guiding, and helping others succeed. That approach has directly contributed to the growth of our organization, enabling us to multiply our impact in the community. The value of this connection is measured not only in dollars raised or new partners secured, but also in the trust, credibility, and confidence she has helped us build in the broader Chamber network. – Ed Ponikvar, Knowledge Point Network
DAINTEE & ED

One of the most impactful partnerships I’ve developed is with Ed Ponikvar with Knowledge Point Network. KPN is a veteransfocused charity committed to empowering those who have served our country. What makes this connection truly valuable is not only the mission they champion, but also the way they approach collaboration—with accountability, transparency, and a shared dedication to meaningful impact. Working with KPN has been both energizing and inspiring. They bring consistency and structure to the table, ensuring that every joint initiative is supported with clear expectations and followthrough. Their support extends beyond the traditional sense of partnership—they actively check in, ask thoughtful questions, and look for ways to align our goals for the benefit of the community. By doing so, they set a high standard for collaboration and demonstrate how nonprofit organizations and local businesses can amplify one another’s efforts. Through this connection, I have not only gained a trusted partner but also a model for how accountability and support can strengthen community initiatives. KPN has shown me that when partnerships are rooted in purpose and responsibility, the results go far beyond business—they create lasting impact.
– Daintee Hurst-Dietz, S.H.I.N.E Benefits
CHAMBER AS CONNECTOR
While members connecting with members is what we were looking for, some respondents touted the Chamber itself (or Chamber staff) as their most valuable connection. We are flattered!
HEATHER TAFELSKI – SOCIAL INDOOR – NORTH HOUSTON
Through the Chamber, I’ve built amazing relationships with venue partners, advertising partners, and fellow small business owners. I can’t simply pick one. Every connection brings value. The Diplomats welcomed me with warmth in the beginning when networking was overwhelming and caused me crippling anxiety. They helped me feel like I belonged in the room at every event and encouraged me to get more from my membership than I would have on my own. Even the small business owners I haven’t directly connected with have impacted me. Just seeing them consistently showing up at events has reminded me that we’re all here, working hard, chasing the same dream. On days when I’ve felt discouraged, those reminders have pushed me to keep going, keep showing up, and keep working toward my goals. So, the Chamber itself—its people, its culture, its unwavering support—is my most valuable connection.
RIK VAN DEN BERG – VODA CLEANING AND RESTORATION OF GREATER HOUSTON – NORTH
My most valuable connection through the Chamber has been the leadership team. From the very beginning, they went out of their way to welcome my wife Laura and I to really learn about our business. Because of that, the referrals they’ve sent my way have been meaningful. They’re not just names on a list — they’re solid introductions that have already turned into actual business, strong relationships and even friendships!
CORTNI PETERS – NOTHING BUNDT CAKES
My most valuable connection has been with Courtney Budra (now with Montgomery County Food Bank), who first introduced me to the world of events back at her beginning time with the Chamber. What began as a simple connection quickly grew into something transformational, as her guidance and collaboration helped open doors for me to promote our brand while also giving back to the community through thoughtful donations. Those initial efforts not only strengthened awareness for Nothing Bundt Cakes but also became stepping stones into meaningful
involvement with the Chamber, where donations led to sponsorship opportunities and highimpact events such as Lobsterfest. Through this involvement, I discovered the true power of connection—how one relationship can spark a ripple effect of growth, opportunity, and impact.
SUMMER HVASTA – SAN JACINTO RIVER AUTHORITY
My most valuable Chamber connection is Shannan Reid. For over a year, I struggled to find the right contact at Montgomery ISD to discuss the San Jacinto River Authority’s educational tour opportunities. Shannan immediately stepped in to help. With just one email, she provided an introduction that opened the door for meaningful conversations with the district. Because of her support, we have since hosted multiple tours and even participated in an oncampus speaking engagement, reaching more than 100 fourth graders. These opportunities have allowed us to share the importance of water management and environmental stewardship with students in an engaging, hands-on way. Her willingness to listen, act, and connect me with the right people exemplifies the true value of Chamber membership and the power of building relationships within our community.
KYLE YEARY – FIRST INSURANCE SERVICES
When we arrived in Montgomery in 2016, we really didn’t know about the business community and Angie and I joined the Chamber even before landing in April Sound with First Insurance Services. This community has embraced us and most of our long-term friends and business colleagues have resulted from our Chamber membership. I have been blessed to work with Scott, Shannan and Riley personally and not only is the Chamber a large networking group, we genuinely love being friends with the staff. We appreciate the genuine friendship we have made and the connections we share with so many Chamber members. Companies like A Second Round Glass came along and we are friends and truly not only work together but bounce ideas off each other. Brent is such a servant and great Board member and has asked me to hold commercial insurance overviews several times.

NONPROFIT SPOTLIGHT: MOSAICS
What is the mission of Mosaics?
Mosaics of Mercy’s mission is to connect the community to mental health and substance abuse recovery resources. We walk alongside individuals and families on their journey toward hope and healing by providing compassionate navigation to vetted providers and services. When (and how) did it begin? How did the location come about?
Mosaics was founded in 2016 by a group of community members in Montgomery County who saw a desperate need
for mental health navigation. Families and individuals often found themselves overwhelmed trying to find help, and Mosaics was created to bridge that gap.
Our name and physical space reflect the idea of broken pieces coming together to form something beautiful. Just like a mosaic, each person’s story—no matter how difficult—has value and contributes to a greater picture of healing. Our location in Magnolia, Texas, grew out of this vision to be both a safe place of hope and a hub for community connection.
HOW HAS MOSAICS DEVELOPED AND CHANGED OVER ITS HISTORY?
Mosaics started as a small grassroots effort, primarily providing resource referrals. Over time, it has expanded to include licensed Navigators, partnerships with healthcare systems like Memorial Hermann, and innovative tools such as direct physician referrals through electronic medical records. We have also broadened our reach into multiple counties and developed strong relationships with schools, courts, and nonprofits.
WHAT IS THE BEST-KEPT SECRET THAT PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT MOSAICS?
The best-kept secret is that Mosaics is not just about referrals—it’s about relationships. Our Navigators take time to listen, encourage, and walk alongside people who are struggling. Families often tell us the simple act of being heard and guided through a confusing system is life changing.
HOW CAN THE COMMUNITY SUPPORT MOSAICS?
Community members can support us by spreading the word about our services, volunteering their time, donating financially, or partnering with us to extend our reach. Even small acts—like sharing our social media posts— help ensure those in need know we exist.

AS A NON-PROFIT, WHAT IS MOSAICS’ BIGGEST NEED IN TERMS OF SUPPORT?
Our greatest need is sustainable funding. While we are blessed with generous donors and grants, recurring support allows us to plan long-term, retain highly qualified Navigators, and meet the growing demand for mental health navigation services in our community.
WHAT EVENTS/ACTIVITIES DOES MOSAICS USE TO RAISE FUNDS/ RESOURCES/AWARENESS FROM THE LOCAL COMMUNITY?
Mosaics hosts several annual events that bring the community together in support of mental health, including:
• The Gala (a large-scale evening of dinner, auctions, and celebration)
• Mental Health Champions Breakfast (honoring leaders making a difference in mental health)

• BBQ Fundraiser (a family-friendly community gathering)
• Mindful Morning events (smaller gatherings focused on wellness and awareness)
These events raise both funds and awareness, while also building community around the message of hope.
WHAT IS ON THE HORIZON FOR MOSAICS?
Mosaics is continuing to grow its partnerships and expand its reach. On the horizon are:
• Strengthening the Commitment Circle (recurring donor program)
• Building a 7-foot community art installation symbolizing hope and healing
• Expanding Navigator support in the juvenile court system
• Continuing to grow physician referral integration across healthcare systems
• Preparing for the 2026 Gala, which will be our largest fundraising effort yet
Our vision is to ensure every individual and family has timely access to mental health resources and the encouragement they need to take the next step forward.

MEMBER SUCCESS STORY: WRIGHT BUSINESS TECHNOLOGIES
IN FIGHTING CYBER ATTACKS, ‘GOOD’ GUYS ARE THE WRIGHT GUYS

WRIGHT BUSINESS TECHNOLOGIES FIGHTS
‘BAD’ GUYS AS AI POSES ADDED RISK

Founded in 1992, Wright Business Technologies (WBT) began in “bootstrap” style by Stephen Wright, the current president of the company. Back in those pre-Internet days, the issue of cyber attacks was a far cry from what small- to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) face today.
Headquartered in Montgomery
County, WBT provides IT outsourcing and cyber-security services to clients across a wide range of industries and sizes.
“We also maintain a fantastic help desk designed to promptly assist our clients with issues that can be resolved quickly and remotely, so you don’t have to wait for an on-site visit,” says Wright. “In the end, we work hard to protect our client’s experience. We cut through the flashy trends and instead focus on our client’s needs. We deliver proven solutions to our clients to help them improve their business and keep them secure in the process.”
CYBER SECURITY TRENDS
Wright wishes he could tell SMBs that it (fighting cyber attacks) is getting better, but he says that the IT industry anticipates “a highly concerning and worsening landscape.”
Here’s why:
ransom payments averaging millions globally. Total ransomware-related losses exceeded $812 million in 2024. This is plenty of motivation for it to continue.
• The threat is increasing year over year, with ransomware incidents alone growing by around 11% in 2024. The SMB space is extremely attractive to these types of attacks because most remain underprepared.

• A large majority of SMBs are being targeted: Estimates range from 41% to 73% of SMBs globally report experiencing a cyber incident such as breaches, ransomware, or phishing attacks, with still other studies showing as high as 94% facing at least one attack in 2024 alone. Cyberattacks are, and should be, considered the top business risk globally for the foreseeable future.
“The most common types of attacks we are seeing include ransomware, phishing/social engineering, malware, and data theft,” says Wright. “Phishing and credential theft drive roughly 70%+ of all breaches. This means users continue to fall for these scams, providing credentials and/or other security-related data to the ‘bad guys,’ effectively welcoming in the attackers. Users must incorporate a more defensive approach to their email and other technical behaviors.”
• Financial impacts are severe: median incident costs for SMBs can range from thousands to millions of dollars, with examples like a median breach cost of $8,300 in the U.S. and
“Most SMBs will install maybe one defensive tool and then go back to business as usual with a false sense of security,” adds Wright. “Today, proper protection consists of multiple layers of security products and processes.”
AI ENTERS THE RING
“AI is an accelerator for both sides of this war,” says Wright. “The ‘bad guys’ are using it to create more sophisticated and better attacks. They are already weaponizing it to craft more convincing phishing emails, generate deepfake videos, analyze defense mechanisms, and adapt their attack strategies in real time.”
According to Wright, AI broadens the playing field by enabling less-skilled attackers to launch sophisticated campaigns, such as “ransomwareas-a-service” and supply-chain exploits, making advanced attacks accessible and scalable. He says AI will be used to attack systems over the next 3-5 years in ways we haven’t even thought of yet.
“Thankfully, the good guys (like WBT) are utilizing AI as well,” says Wright. “AI’s ability to analyze massive amounts of data allows us to employ it

as an improved defensive tool. We can monitor & analyze system & network activity in realtime to identify suspicious behavior and even automatically lock it down for our later review. AI helps to automate tasks such as threat hunting, alerts, and even adapt defenses to the current threat.”
Like any tool, Wright says AI can be used for good or evil.
“As such, we are now in an arms race. To survive, organizations must continually evaluate and reinvest in smarter, more agile defenses. No matter the cause or method utilized, the potential consequences of a breach extend beyond the immediate losses of data or downtime.”
Often, the reputational damage and/or lost customer trust can be the most unfortunate result of a breach.
DEFENSE IS THE BEST OFFENSE
How can SMBs win the fight and defeat the bad guys? Wright says they must prepare a comprehensive layered defensive plan to combat the ever-expanding cyber threat environment in which they operate.
“2026 will be marked by frequent, costly attacks dominated by ransomware and phishing,” he predicts. “Most likely, there will be increased complexity powered by AI and cloud vulnerabilities.”

To that end, WBT offers comprehensive AIdriven tools that streamline detection, automate responses, and provide robust predictive capabilities.
“We are doing the work, so you don’t have to,” says Wright. “Our AI & human-based systems help flag vulnerabilities in real time, enabling SMBs to focus remaining resources on the business itself rather than its security.”

39TH ANNUAL LOBSTERFEST SUPPORTS CHAMBER MISSION

Since 1987, the Chamber has come together for an annual ode to the crustacean – Lobsterfest. Each October, members, guests and the community gather at what has become known as Conroe/Lake Conroe’s homecoming. This year was no different!.

Close to 1,000 attendees at the Lobsterfest meal enjoyed a steak and lobster dinner, a silent and live auction, and plenty of good cheer. The following day, hundreds of golfers swung their clubs at Panorama Golf Club on a beautiful Friday morning and afternoon.
The money raised during the two days of Lobsterfest go directly to fund Chamber programs geared toward connecting the local business community. None of this would be possible without the many sponsors, attendees and

volunteers who come together in support of the Chamber. For many years, the presenting sponsor has been Woodforest National Bank. Serving as the golf sponsor was Howard Hughes Holdings, Inc., and the dinner sponsor was Fidium Fiber.
“There are very few chambers that have continued the same fundraising event for as long as our Chamber has held Lobsterfest,” said Scott Harper, Chamber President. “Our community loves this event, and we are looking forward to the historic 40th annual Lobsterfest in 2026.”

EFTA’S NEXT GENERATION LEADERSHIP CLASS EXPLORES TRUE LEADERSHIP

Education for Tomorrow Alliance’s 2026 Next Generation Leadership Class is underway! Thirtynine students from 13 different schools kicked off in August and met for their first monthly session in September.
The program is designed to cultivate leadership skills and give students the chance to engage with decision-makers. The “ What is Leadership? ” session gave students Q&A time with a group of community leaders and a follow-up challenge with leadership coach Tracy Casey-Arnold.
Three class members reflected on the session sharing their takeaways: Martin Izquierdo, Kamila Akhmetova, and Andrea Dong

1. Failure and vulnerability aren’t the fears that bring disappointment, but rather the paths towards leadership. On September 10, members of the NGL Class of ‘26 were given the privilege of being mentored by a panel of Conroe community leaders. These mentors highlighted the qualities that build the foundation of a truly great leader.
2. Through every question and initiative to learn, the Class of ‘26 discovered that a true leader is selfless, authentic, and empathetic, while also striving to acknowledge and validate the perspectives of every team member, ensuring growth and results for all.
3. Building on these principles, guest speaker Tracy Casey-Arnold introduced her “Superhero University,” a program devoted to growing companies and people of all backgrounds toward being the greatest version of themselves. Arnold inspired students, urging them to embrace failure and push toward creating networks of people to support them. By courageously setting goals and staying relentless through inevitable challenges, Arnold cites that being a successful, great leader will only follow.

Leadership Montgomery County kicked off its new class year with a Welcome Reception for the LMC Class of 2026, the 4th Annual Leadership Summit, the Class of 2026 Retreat, and the opening session of Leadership Master Class 4.
