CL ARENCE HALL NEWSLETTER & WHAT’S ON Black Mountains Comedy Festival

Live music at the Clarence Hall!

We’re excited to con rm that plans are now in place for next year’s Black Mountains Comedy Festival! Once again, this will be a weekend of warmth and laughter with two packed Gala Comedy Evenings at the Clarence Hall on Friday, 2 and Saturday, 3 February. The event stars Bridget Christie and Hal Cruttenden, with support from Rhoss Smith, Julia Stenton, Mike Reed, Leila Navabi, Sarah Bridgeman, Huw Davies and Steffan Evans. Matinee, fringe and outreach events are still to be announced. Tickets now available online.

During November we were once again privileged to listen to a variety of talented musicians at the Clarence Hall. Events included a showcase by the The Will Barnes Quartet as part of their ‘Source of the Severn’ album tour. It was a tremendous evening, with the quartet performing a set list that included a mix of jazz standards together with a number of original compositions. In an unusual collaboration, the musical performance was accompanied by a live visual show by skilled landscape artist, Erin Hughes. We are very grateful for the support of the Night Out scheme under which this event was organised. November’s Lunchtime Recital saw a return performance by local Ukulele Band, Uskulele. This entertaining group delighted the audience with a wide selection of numbers from all light music genres. There was a great deal of foot tapping and singing along to the songs and it is hoped that Uskulele will return in the not too distant future!
