Past Projects Involvement Fair

by Alisa Tseng

On September 14th and 15th from 10:30pm to 1:30pm we tabled at the Involvement Fair. It was so much fun meeting and talking to potential club members! At this event, we were able to introduce, teach and display what our club is about and showcase our involvement in the community. We also passed out handmade bookmarks with information about our club to interested students. Through this event, we were able to meet many students who were apart of Key Club or Circle K at their previous schools, and some who didn’t know what Circle K was. Shout out to those who came by our table! It was nice to meet you.

Past Projects CKI 101 & UH Wahine Volleyball Social by Vanessa Ganir

The CKI 101/Getting To Know You Social as well as our Volleyball Game Social right after that was our first two club social events. During the CKI 101 presentation, members learned more about the club and the different levels of Circle K. Members also met someone new and learned something new at the Getting To Know You Social as we all introduced our self and shared one thing on our bucket list, played “All My Friends Who…”. got separated into groups where we we had to race in being the first group to come up with three things everyone in your own group has in common, and played telephone charades. The fun continued as we watched the UH Wahine Volleyball Game altogether as another club social. It was pretty chill just hanging out and talking to other members while watching the game, which we won that night

Past Projects Key Club Regional Training Conference by Michelle Luu

Being able to go back and help-out at the Region 18 Training Conference was extremely rewarding and nostalgic. Arriving that morning I was joined by my fellow Circle K members, soon we got our assignments and began setting up the games and activities for the Fall Rally. I helped oversee the Quidditch game which was exciting because the Key Clubbers were tying to get their ball into the hula hoops. Overall, it was my first community service event as a member of Circle K and something to keep in the books.

Past Projects Key Club Regional Training Conference

by Sean Domingo It was an early morning on that Satuday when our Club helped with Key Club’s Fall Rally at RTC. Although we were only expecting to bring about 12 members, we had 22 people sign up! (Wow we are so awesome) With our combined knowledge and teamwork and armed with just stereo stands, hula-hoops, and string, we were able to build a Quidditch Field so great even Harry Potter could play there. Although some pants were ripped and golden snitches were caught, we worked together to pull off a great Fall Rally for the Key Clubbers. At this event we also helped make magic wands, sticky potions, and gallons of lemonade! I would like to thank everyone who showed up and I hope you all had as much fun as I did!

Past Projects 100th Infantry Battalion Set-up by Vanessa Ganir

For the 100th Infantry Battalion Set Up, our members had to partner up with another member from our club and help out other volunteers. It was perfect since an even amount of members came out to this event. We helped other volunteers find names of those who served in the 100th Infantry Battalion and set down flowers on their grave. A lot of people came out to help at this event including HPU CKI. Participating in this event was such an experience, and I would want our club do this event again in the future!

Past Projects Kiwanis Installation Banquet by Alisa Tseng

The Power of We” was the valuable lesson we learned at the Honolulu Kiwanis Installation Luncheon. At this event, we watched the incoming officers installed to their new positions and ate delicious food! We also witnessed the first “Living In Service Award” presented to Mrs.Chiye Itagaki by the Kiwanis Club of Honolulu. This award recognizes the “unsung” heroes in our community that don’t seek recognition for all their service. Overall, this was a great event where we got to speak to Kiwanis, Key Clubbers and members of HPU CKI. “

Jolie, Alisa, Danielle, Ace, and I were fortunate enough to attend the installation of the new Pearl Harbor Kiwanis Board at the Aiea Library. Although they are not our sponsoring Kiwanis club, they have always been very supportive of our club and we really appreciate them! It was night filled with interesting conversations, ono Hawaiian grindz, and even got updates about UH winning a football game. We always have a blast working with all of the Kiwanis and I hope all of you get to work with them at least once as Circle K’ers. -7-

Past Projects Children and Youth Day by Natasha Lee

The 23rd Annual Children and Youth Day in Hawai’i is celebrated to honor the special contributions our children and youth make in the community. We helped look over the Key Clubbers and drive the choo choo train. It’s a very memorable event for me because it was my first Key Club event in high school and now it’s my first Circle K event. I felt truly happy to be continuing doing service in the community by helping with the rock climbing wall for kids to try and the bouncy houses for kids to play “jump” in. Since members of Circle K were spread apart we were able to help in more than one area. There were a range of different activities and booths. Overall it’s a super enjoyable event for everyone.

Past Projects Children and Youth Day

by Dyson Sato

We helped at the 23rd Annual Children and Youth Day at the state capitol. We had lots of members show up all day, both new and returning. Throughout the day we helped Mr. Josh Chang, of the Kaneohe Kiwanis, supervise the Key Clubbers that were there by checking them in, assigning them to ride stations, and assisting at the rides. We also made sure that everyone was being relieved at the end of their shifts and had a chance to eat. An exciting job that Circle K was able to do was drive the train that transported children and their parents across the Capitol Lawn. Overall it was a long and exciting day. We were able to make sure that all the children were safe at the rides and nobody got hurt! -9-

Key to College Save the Date: Saturday, November 19, 2016

by Jenna Onaga During our Key to College event, Key Clubbers from different high schools visited UH Mānoa to learn more about the college experience! Our Key to College committee organized the event, and some of our Circle K members gave helpful advice about things like the basics of applying to college and student life in general. At the end of the event, Circle K members from different majors spoke with Key Clubbers about their fields of study and their own experiences at UH Mānoa. It was an enjoyable experience for everyone who participated, and it’s sure to be fun again this year! - 10 -
