An apprenticeship is a job with training. Apprentices combine working for an employer with studying for a relevant industry qualification at college. They will usually attend college on a weekly basis and put the skills and knowledge they learn into practice in the workplace, as well as use their on-the-job experience to bring learning to life in the classroom. Whichever qualification is chosen, apprentices will develop a set of skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to effectively perform their role within the workplace. Throughout the programme, employers will be supported by a dedicated account manager and both the employer and apprentice will have regular meetings with a college assessor to monitor the apprentice’s progress. And apprenticeships aren’t just for new staff, apprenticeship training can also be used to upskill existing members of the team ensuring all employees are equipped with the latest skills and knowledge needed to meet the demands of the business.
