Improving the skills and employment prospects of local people, whatever their age, is at the heart of everything we do.
Whilst you might think that college is for young people, you’ll be surprised how many adult learners are returning to studying, whether you:
• Need new skills to secure your next role
• Want to develop new skills after a long break from work
• Are ready to train for a change in career
• Are on the lookout for a new hobby
• Want to meet new people
Counselling student “
The
college was recommended by a friend who had previously studied here and, as it’s a parttime course, it fits around my home life and work commitments.
“
It’s time to define your future at City of Wolverhampton College!
Enrolling on the Level 3 Nail Technology course has given 37 year old Aimee the skills and confidence to land a role working as a Beauty Therapist at Heaven Skincare. Talking about her time at the college, Aimee said:
“I completed my Level 2 in Beauty Therapy last year and am now just about to complete Level 3 in Nail Technology. Last year I learnt many practical skills including waxing, facials, manicures, pedicures, make-up, eye treatments and tanning. There was also a lot of theory work looking into the muscles, bone structure, lymphatic system, and the skin. I really enjoyed manicures and pedicures and decided to progress on to the Level 3 in Nail Services.
“The Nail Technology Level 3 course teaches you all about the different systems used in the nail industry as well as nail art. There is a lot of theory work relating to the skin and nail structure including nail disorders and diseases, as well as what products are used, and teaching us good quality skills to work in a salon.
“Since starting at the college, I have developed my confidence and now believe in myself. I have just started a beauty therapist role at Heaven Skincare with Deborah Mitchell, which is an amazing opportunity. I look forward to learning more skills and knowledge with her and her team.”

Content Creator, a free skills development course run in collaboration with BlackRook Academy. As part of this course, all students are provided with a guaranteed job interview with a local employer. Through this, Katrina was offered the role of Social Media & Marketing Executive with The Mount Hotel Country Manor. She is currently excelling in her role.
Katrina said: “This course has been a transformative journey for me. Guided by real-life professionals, I’ve gained invaluable knowledge and hands-on experience. However, its more than that for me, it has also been about breaking down barriers and nurturing creative confidence.
“Now I work at the Mount Hotel Country Manor, an opportunity that wouldn’t have been possible without the support from the course tutors who helped me showcase my skills and secured me the job interview. This role has ignited my passion and I am now immersed in design, photography and videography.
“The course tutors have been fantastic. Lucy Rook, the star behind this course, has a brilliant read on how to help each individual, full of knowledge and a motivating demeanour. The videographer tutors are wizards! Taking our video skills to the next level. Every tutor, and each insight, inspired us.
“From within our tight-knit student community, I witnessed transformation. We all grew in confidence, reigniting hope for our futures. BlackRook Academy isn’t just a bootcamp; it’s a constellation of mentors, guiding us towards a better version of ourselves.”
