Syracuse PAL CROCHET CLASS

This winter we partnered with Jaleel Campbell to launch crochet classes for youth. Most participants were beginners who had no experience with crocheting. They learned the basics of crochet such as a chain stitch. At the end of the program, all of the participants were able to crochet a design they were proud of and could take home! We want to give a special thank you to Jaleel Campbell for partnering with us to offer this program!

Syracuse PAL Literacy league

session of our Syracuse PAL Literacy League.

Participants worked on reading, writing, and literacy skills for an hour and then had an hour of open gym incentive! This program was put in place to help bridge the literacy gap in our community and to give youth the opportunity to inherit and work on literacy skills. We want to give a huge thank you to Ron Bianchi for running our Literacy League this session and continuing to plant seeds into Syracuse PAL.

Law enforcement HIGHLIGHT

NeRISSA godbolt community service officer

Nerissa Godbolt has proudly served as a Community Service Officer for nine years, celebrating her anniversary this June. She was encoraged by two officers to apply and found her passion in helping the Syracuse community. Outside of work, she enjoys camping, hiking, cooking, and spending quality time with family and friends. One of the most rewarding parts of volunteering with Syracuse PAL has been meeting young people and later encountering them around the community. It's important students see she not only works here but lives here too in their community. Nerissa believes in the importance of forging your own path. She reminds others that although life is hard, and making the right decisions can be even harder, it is possible to make those tough choices and build a successful, fulfilling life.
