Bring your family and friends and join us for our 4th of July Celebration on Saturday, July 1st at New Temple Park, 1450 Lidcombe Avenue. The family friendly event will begin at 2:00 p.m. with fun activities, attractions, giveaways, variety of food vendors, live entertainment and conclude with a spectacular firework show at 9:00 p.m. The event is free.

SOUTH EL MONTE ACTIVE MILITARY
BANNER PROGRAM
The City of South El Monte is proud to honor the brave men and women who are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces (Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, or Navy) through the Active Military Banner Program. The program is designed to honor and support active-duty military personnel that reside in or have immediate family living in South El Monte.
The military banners recognize the service member, with their name and branch of the United States Armed Forces on the front and back of each banner. The banners are displayed on the light poles by City Hall along Santa Anita Avenue. The cost to display each customized banner is $50; financial assistance is available.
Applications for the Active Military Banner Program are available on the City’s website at cityofsouthelmonte. org/273/Active-Military-Banner-Program.

STREET SWEEPING & TRASH COLLECTION HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
In observance of Independence Day holiday, there will be no street sweeping and trash collection services on Tuesday, July 4, 2023.
Street Sweeping: If your regular street sweeping day falls on Tuesday, it will be swept on the following week. Please be advised, that all other parking regulations (i.e. red zones, blue zones/handicap, sidewalk, etc.) will be enforced. Trash
Collection services will resume on Wednesday and there will be a one-day delay for the remainder of the week.

Recycling Services For Residents
South El Monte residents may recycle their Electronic Waste (E-Waste) and Used Motor Oil & Filters at the City of South El Monte Public Works Maintenance Yard located at 1900 Central Avenue, FREE of charge.
• E-Waste is consumer electronic equipment that is no longer wanted. Items accepted include computers, printers, keyboards, scanners, televisions, cell phones, stereos, and electronic games.
• Used Motor Oil & Filters: to recycle them please drain the filter for 12 hours to remove most of the used oil. Store your used oil and filter in a leak-proof container. Do not mix oil with gasoline, automotive fluids, other liquids or debris. Contamination makes it hazardous and unrecyclable.
• This service is only available to South El Monte residents. Proof of residency is required.
• MUST SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO DROP OFF ITEMS.

The City of South El Monte contracts with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for law enforcement services. Designated deputies of the Sheriff’s Temple Station oversee the safety of South El Monte community members.
Temple Station responsibilities include:
• Promoting and preserving public order.
• Documenting and investigating any criminal activity.
• Providing emergency response to all life threatening incidents.
• Preventing Crime by Community Policing with the community it serves.
• Ongoing education to citizens within the community with current crime prevention ideas and methods.
