SOUTH EL MONTE WELCOMES ACTIVE STREETS ’CORAZÓN DEL VALLE’
On Sunday, November 2, 2025, South El Monte will be at the center of an exciting community celebration as Active Streets “Corazón del Valle” returns to the San Gabriel Valley. From 9 AM to 3 PM, five miles of streets in South El Monte and neighboring El Monte will be closed to cars and opened for people of all ages to walk, bike, skate, scoot, dance, run, and play.
The route highlights South El Monte’s vibrant community, connecting participants to the South El Monte Civic Center, local parks, Garvey Avenue businesses, and the Jeff Seymour Family Center — home of ActiveSGV and the El Monte Bike Park. Families and visitors will enjoy the opportunity to explore the city in a safe, car-free environment while celebrating its lively culture and local destinations.
“The return of open streets is a powerful way to bring our communities together,” said Marisa Creter, Executive Director of the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments (SGVCOG). “South El Monte is proud to showcase its parks, civic center, and neighborhoods while promoting healthy living and active transportation.”
