How to Register for Activities
For most activities, register online at rec.cityofgolden.gov
Most activities require registration at the official City of Golden Parks and Recreation website, rec.cityofgolden.gov. Some activities, such as those organized by 3rd parties, require registration at other websites. You can find specific registration information for these activities throughout this guide.
For detailed registration information, see page 117 .
Scheduling Changes & Cancellations
The Recreation Department recommends that registrants carefully review their schedule before signing up for a class. Refunds will not be issued for cancellations made less than four business days before the class begins.
If you need to cancel your class registration, please call (303) 384-8100. You can choose one of the following options:
• Transfer to another class
• Receive a refund (issued via check or credit card; no cash refunds).
A $5 service charge (per person, per class) applies to all refunds, except in the following cases:
• Illnesses, with a doctor’s note specifying the reason the participant is unable to attend, submitted no later than two weeks after the class begins.
• Cancellations made by the Recreation Department. Refunds are processed within four weeks.
Inclement Weather Information
During inclement weather, parks and recreation staff may cancel activities or close facilities to protect public safety. For the most up to date information on weather-related or emergency closures, call the weather hotline.

The Front Porch
Let’s Be Friends!
There’s an old saying that friends are the pillars on your porch. These words come to life at the Golden Community Center’s Front Porch for Active Adults. A place for all ages (but designed for those aged 50+) to enjoy a cup of coffee, meet new friends, catch up with old friends and just enjoy being around others.
The Front Porch supports and provides Golden’s 50+ community with a free gathering space for a wide variety of activities and opportunities. The weekly schedule includes Mah Jongg, billiards, pinochle, quilting, knitting and more. There are also group exercise classes, pickleball, pottery and other programs. We look forward to seeing you!

The route is 4.5 miles long and ascends an elevation of 640 feet through mountainous terrain along with trestles, cuts, fills, and a grand loop and takes 1 hour and 15 minutes. The Shining Tour, is one of the Stanley Hotel’s newest tours. Indoor/Outdoor 60 minute walking tour through the west side of The Stanley Hotel Campus. A lot of Stephen King, a bit of History, and a whole lot of stories of the spirited variety! This tour includes a visit to The Shining Suite, in our beautifully restored
1909 Caretaker’s Cottage. On this tour you will get the inside scoop on Colorado’s most famous dog, you can snap a photo of the re-created bathroom, and catch a glimpse of one of the Axes from the filming of The Shining. Mah Jongg is a historical and exciting game with Chinese origins that uses tiles with symbols and pictures. It is a tile-matching game where players draw and discard tiles until one player has a winning hand. It is a game of skill, strategy, and sometimes a little bit of luck!
For players who have already completed a Mah Jongg beginner class with the GCC or elsewhere, drop in for a session! Instructor Colleen Hope will also help with instruction if needed.

This class provides a supportive environment for students over 50 who are interested in learning about ceramics, surrounded by their peers.
All levels of experience are welcomed and encouraged to join the fun. Beginners will be introduced to clay through introductory projects before moving to the potter’s wheel, while more experienced students will find support while exploring their own ideas. The first bag of clay is included in the cost of the class; each additional bag is $30, outside clay will not be allowed. All glazes are non–toxic and food–safe. This is an 8–week class unless otherwise noted.

Group Fitness Class Descriptions
Align & Flow
Linking movement with breath, this class offers an alignment-focused flow to enhance mobility and strength while deepening the connection between the mind, body, and spirit. Integrating traditional vinyasa yoga and meditation practices. Open to all levels. Weather dependent, this class may go to Lions Park.
All Levels Yoga
Designed for all-level participants who wish to improve their general health and wellbeing through stretching and balance exercises. In this class we will use the chair and wall, as well as mat work to help build strength, increase mobility, and improve lifestyle.
Balance
Primary focus on lower body and core strength and endurance to increase balance, stability, and injury prevention.
Cardio Lift Interval (INT/ADV)
An interval type format with lifting and cardio aerobics.
Cycling
Cycling enthusiasts, practice your sport in the comfort of a controlled climate. Instructors will take you through the rigors of any-terrain workout. This is NOT a Sunday stroll. Classes are multilevel, work at your own pace.
Graceful Aging Yoga
Joy and vibrancy through somatic, therapeutic benefits of breathing, movement, and relaxation.
HIIT (INT/ADV)
High Intensity Interval Training. This class will be fastpaced using body weight and dumbbells.
HIIT Cycling (INT/ADV)
30 Min Series: Cycling but designed for intervals and high intensity. Instructor will take you through different sets/reps/ and intensities to keep your heart rate up.
Low Impact Cardio
This is a fun class to get your body moving and heart rate up. Learn easy choreography that you can have fun with.
Low Impact HIIT & Sculpt
Low impact high intensity interval training combined with traditional weight-training.
Mat Pilates
Pilates mat classes focus on stabilizing the core, improving posture, and strengthening the total body! Putting a fun, creative spin on the 34 mat exercises developed by Joseph Pilates, our Pilates mat classes use your body weight to strengthen and tone the body.
Power Training
This high intensity, weightlifting based class will help sculpt your entire body. Adjustable barbell sets, hand weights, balls, gliders, and resistance bands will be used. Increase balance, core, and muscle strength/ endurance.
SilverSneakers® Classic
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a SilverSneakers® ball are offered for resistance. A chair is available if needed for seated or standing support.
SilverSneakers® Yoga
Move through seated and/or standing yoga poses to increase flexibility, balance, and range of motion. A chair is used to meet a variety of fitness levels.
Tabata
Get ready to sweat, burn calories, and push your limits with this fast-paced, high-intensity interval training (HIIT) class! TABATA is a structured workout consisting of 20 seconds of all-out effort followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated for multiple rounds. This method is designed to boost cardiovascular endurance, build strength, and torch fat in a short amount of time.
Total Body
High intensity interval training combined with traditional weight-training moves.
Mind and Movement
This class will combine movement and cognitive engagement with a focus on functional strength, balance, and the brain-body connection. Movements will include seated exercises such as deep breathing, lateral and cross-lateral exercises, as well as standing.
Tai Chi
This class offers a moving meditation with gentle, lowimpact movements, combining T’ai Chi Chih, T’ai Chi Moving for Better Balance, and various Qigongs. These slow, mindful exercises help circulate energy (Chi), reduce stress, and improve overall health. Suitable for all ages and abilities.
Tai Chi Beginner
We will learn a form called Tai Chi for Arthritis Part 1, although it is good for everyone, not just people with arthritis. This class is meant for beginners or anyone who wants to deepen their experience of this form.
Yoga–lates
Merges the practice of yoga with the core stabilizing, posture enhancing dynamics of Pilates. Includes poses to cultivate strength, stamina, stability, and flexibility.

Get grounded and connected to your body in this yoga class. We’ll use our breath and movement to calm, center, engage and stretch.

Hey there, fellow yogis! Are you ready for the ultimate Bottle Baby Goat Yoga experience? Look no further, because we’ve got you covered. Join us at Golden Community Center for a fun–filled session with our adorable baby goats.
These little cuties are just a few weeks old and still on the bottle, so you’ll get to bond with them while getting your yoga on. Bring your own yoga mat or rent a mat for $5 and have no worries about any surprises on yours. After 45 minutes of yoga, you’ll have 15 minutes to unwind and bottle feed the goats. And as a bonus, you’ll receive a complimentary notebook with Guided Goat Hikes on it, perfect for keeping track of your gym and yoga sessions.

This class is designed for children 6 months-3 years of age with an accompanying responsible adult (16 years and older) in the water together. The fun and engaging class will guide caregivers though how to interact in the water while introducing water safety and basic swimming skills and developing the building blocks of swimming. Skills covered will include becoming comfortable in the water, floating, blowing bubbles, and developing a safe and healthy relationship with the water.
Preschool Level 1
Introduction to Water Skills (Ages 3–5)
A fun and safe introduction to swimming.
This class is for our youngest swimmers who are new to the water or just starting to gain confidence. In this playful and encouraging environment, swimmers will lean basic water skills, including floating, kicking, blowing bubbles and putting their face in the water. With fun activities and songs, they’ll develop comfort and excitement in the pool while practicing essential water safety skills that build the foundation for lifelong safe swimming.
Preschool Level 2
Fundamental Aquatic Skills (Ages 3–5)
Bigger splashes and bigger confidence.
Participants will practice floating, gliding, kicking, and arm movements while learning to swim short distances in a fun and supportive setting. The goal is to glide, roll between front and back floats, swim with combined arm and leg action, and recover to a standing position with instructor support. Water safety remains a focus as swimmers gain confidence in submerging, jumping in, and beginning to tread water.
Preschool Level 3
Stroke Development (Ages 3–5)
Build idependence, endurance, and technique.
In this class, swimmers will build on strength, independence, endurance and technique. Participants will practice swimming longer distances, mastering front and back floats and improving their arm and leg coordination. They will also develop breath control, treading water and water safety skills. The goal of this level is to glide without support of the instructor for 3 body lengths on both the front and back, swim 3 body lengths on both the front and back without the support of the instructor and to be comfortable moving independently in the water.
Not sure which level to sign up for? Please check with the Aquatics Coordinator at aquatics@cityofgolden.net for level recommendations . It is not uncommon to repeat a level more than once . Swimmers must be at least 3 years of age to participate in group and private/semi-private lessons . Swimmers must be proficient in all Preschool Level skills to progress to School Age Level classes .
School Age Level 2
Stroke Development (Ages 6+)
Learn fundamental stroke techniques and water skills.
This level is for swimmers who are comfortable in the water and ready to build confidence and independence. The class focuses on fundamental stroke techniques, including front crawl and backstroke, as well as floating, kicking, and rhythmic breathing. Swimmers will work toward swimming 10 yards unassisted and be introduced to treading water and retrieving objects in deeper water.
Must have passed or shown competency in all prerequisite levels or be of appropriate age.
School Age Level 3
Stroke Development (Ages 6+)
Refine stroke techniques and learn new strokes.
Are you ready to take the next step in your swimming journey? This class will focus on stroke development, rhythmic breathing techniques, and increased endurance. Swimmers will refine their front crawl and backstroke, learn the fundaments of breaststroke and elementary backstroke and improve their ability to swim longer distance. Safety skills like treading water and deep-water swimming are also introduced.
Must have passed or shown competency in all prerequisite levels.

Stroke Improvement (Ages 6+)
Refine stroke techniques and build advanced water skills.
Take your swimming skills to the next level and improve independence! This class is for swimmers who have successfully completed or demonstrated competency in School Age Level 3 skills and are comfortable in the water and swimming in the lap pool. Swimmers will focus on stroke refinement, building endurance and advanced water skills like diving. Swimmers will enhance their front crawl, backstrokes, breaststroke and elementary backstroke while also learning the fundamentals of butterfly, open turns and treading water.
Must have passed or shown competency in all prerequisite levels.

This class is designed by the American Red Cross (ARC) and is for lifeguards seeking employment. Swim-Tread-Swim Sequence
Jump into the deep end of the lap pool, resurface and swim 150 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. Maintain a vertical position at the surface for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs. Swim 50 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. Swimming on the back or side is not permitted. Swim goggles are allowed. Front crawl and breaststroke must be proficient using rotary breathing and not stopping.

participate in all classes, proficiently demonstrate all skills, perform the final skills scenarios proficiently and pass the final written exam with a minimum of 80% or better. Upon successful completion the candidate will receive certification in ARC Lifeguard Training, First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. Candidates must attend all classes to be eligible for certification.
Candidates will be contacted via email used at time of registration for information regarding prerequisite skills and e-learning.
A series of prerequisite skills must be completed prior to the first day of class.

Complete a timed event where candidates will swim 20 yards, retrieve a 10lb brick from a depth of 7-10 feet, return to the surface and swim 20 yards back to the starting point with both hands holding the brick and keeping the face at or near the surface of the water.

Additional Swimmers: $25 per additional swimmer, maximum of 3 total per lesson .
Private swim lessons are available for swimmers ages 3 and over and are 30 minutes in length. Swimmers will practice skills tailored to their abilities within the designated registration. All private lessons will focus on fundamentals of swimming and refining strokes and building endurance at the specific level of the student.
If you are registering a semi–private lesson (up to 3 swimmers), then you only need to register one swimmer. Please email aquatics@cityofgolden. net with the other swimmer’s names and ages–the additional $25 per additional swimmer, up to a maximum of 3, will be added to that additional swimmer.
There are no make up lessons or refunds due to cancellation by the participant.
With the limited swim lessons that we are able to offer, we ask that families limit lessons to one lesson per day per child.

The Lil’ All Stars program is designed to introduce boys and girls ages 4–6 to sports and teach them
fundamental skills in a fun, engaging environment. Each 8–week session focuses on a single sport. The program begins with a fun meet–and-greet on the first Saturday, followed by six weekly sessions. During each session, volunteer coaches will lead a 30–minute practice, followed by a 30–minute lightly structured game.

Baby Goat Yoga

Hey there, fellow yogis! Are you ready for the ultimate Bottle Baby Goat Yoga experience? Look no further, because we’ve got you covered. Join us at Golden Community Center for a fun–filled session with our adorable baby goats.
These little cuties are just a few weeks old and still on the bottle, so you’ll get to bond with them while getting your yoga on. Bring your own yoga mat or rent a mat for $5 and have no worries about any surprises on yours. After 45 minutes of yoga, you’ll have 15 minutes to unwind and bottle feed the goats. And as a bonus, you’ll receive a complimentary notebook with Guided Goat Hikes on it, perfect for keeping track of your gym and yoga sessions.

Work with a Board–Certified Health Coach and spend half your day working on your own health and wellness goals.

Together, parents and preschoolers will explore and experiment with shaping and forming, rolling and

Clay Creations

Ages 6–10
Location Pottery Room at Golden Community Center
This class will give the younger generation an opportunity to experience the tactile qualities of
clay. Students will learn how to create with clay using pinch, coil and slab techniques. Projects will be painted the same day then fired and ready to take home the following week. All materials will be provided and are non-toxic and food safe. This is a 4-week class. Students will not be using the potter’s wheel.

Join us for six weeks of after school club as we explore our first ever Teaching Garden at the Golden History Park. Your budding gardener or chef (ages 6 to 11) will observe how our garden changes, explore the fall harvest, and cook up some tasty treats in the Pierce Cabin.
Dates: Wednesdays, starting September 10. Dates include September 10, 17, 24, October 1, 8, and 15.
Sample Activities: Gardener journals, plant identification and care, kitchen safety and cooking skills. Food activities could include herb butter, homemade jam, cornbread, or pico de gallo. Activities will vary based on student interests and garden produce. A full food and ingredient list will be available at the start of club.

About the Teaching Garden
The Teaching Garden was established in May 2025 to support the museum’s youth programming. The garden consists of a Dye Garden, a Three Sisters Garden, and a Kitchen Garden. The Dye Garden includes flowers that can be used to create natural dyes. The Three Sisters Garden includes corn, beans, and squash grown together in a mutually beneficial arrangement which originated with Indigenous groups in North America. The Kitchen Garden has plants that would have likely been grown by settlers. Donors include Echter’s Nursery & Garden Center, GoFarm, Native Seeds/SEARCH, and Tagawa Gardens. Consultants include the Rocky Mountain Weaver’s Guild and Steve LaPointe and Earlidawn Roy.

Looking to start your babysitting journey or boost your skills? The Red Cross Babysitters Training course is the perfect way to gain the confidence needed to care for children safely and responsibly.
Learn basic childcare skills (feeding, diapering and bedtime routines), safety and emergency
preparedness, how to handle common babysitting challenges, business tips to start your babysitting service and First Aid and CPR for infants and children.
Students will receive a lunch break - a packed lunch and water will be needed for each student.
SAT Test Prep
Class 101: SAT Test Prep Course

Class 101 offers a comprehensive SAT course that helps students:
• Identify “Top 10” trends
• Master SAT topics in targeted areas for greatest improvement
• Learn score boosting strategies and techniques to increase overall score
• Gain confidence
• Increase chances of getting into most colleges and universities
• Increase chances of merit–based scholarships to make college more affordable
The course includes classes taught by an expert, a study guide, an online access portal, interactive practice quizzes, and personalized worksheets.
This SAT prep course can be virtual or in person, and the same class will be offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays that week. Attend one or both days each week!
Class 101: Community Digital SAT Practice Test

Class 101 is sponsoring a Digital SAT Practice Test for interested high school students in the area. Come gain valuable insight into what the actual test is like and learn some of our tips.
A full report of your score, trends, and targeted areas of improvement will be provided when you elect to schedule an individual appointment with you and your parent(s) 1–2 weeks following the test.

Preschool at the GCC Preschool & Little Ones
About Our Preschool
At the GCC preschool, we strive to offer a creative place where children learn through play. Our goal is to help children reach their greatest potential and develop their social and emotional skills. Our highlyqualified staff works collaboratively to provide a safe, nurturing, and enjoyable learning place for our community and families. The Golden Community Preschool is licensed by the State of Colorado Department of Human Services.
Our preschool is a nine-month program, beginning the day after Labor Day and running through the second Friday in May each year.
We offer a Full-Day 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. and Half-Day Preschool, 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Preschoolers must be 2.5 years old by September 1, 2025, and fully pottytrained in order to register.
We accept Colorado UPK. All children in Colorado can register for up to 15 hours per week of free, highquality preschool in their year before kindergarten through Colorado’s Universal Pre-K (UPK) Program. For information and/or to register for UPK, please visit: www.upk.colorado.gov.
Facility tours are available Monday–Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. so you can come see the kiddos and teachers in action! Personal Training FAQs
What is a consultation?
During a consultation, the trainer will go over goals, strengths, weaknesses and get to know you. Additionally, during that session a trainer will take you through general movements to watch form, mobility, familiarity of movements, and more.
When will my trainer be in touch?
We will make every attempt to meet with you as soon as possible. Sometimes, getting a physician’s release may take some extra time. Please allow at least three business days after you turn in your request for us to contact you.
What if I have to cancel my appointment?
Your Personal Trainer will schedule your appointment into their time. If you need to cancel, please give them a courtesy call, or email, 24 hours in advance, at the number or email they give you to contact them. This enables them to plan their day and fill the time if necessary. If you do not have their number, please call (303) 384-8133 at least 24 hours before your appointment, so that we may contact your trainer with the cancellation. Thank you for your consideration.
Note: For the safety of your children, they are NOT allowed in fitness room or weight room areas while in your training session .
Body Composition Testing

Body Composition (lean tissue vs. fat tissue) is essential to monitor your weight loss progress. A certified Personal Trainer will help you to find your lean-to-fat ratio. Composition sessions take approximately 30 minutes and include a private discussion with your certified Personal Trainer afterwards to discuss your goals and what direction you can go to achieve them.
What should I do to prepare?
Wear shorts and a short-sleeved shirt to your appointment. For better results it is recommended not to exercise 12 hours beforehand or eat 4 hours prior. Drink water as usual, but not in excess. Please fill out a request at rec.cityofgolden.gov

Align & Flow
Linking movement with breath, this class offers an alignment-focused flow to enhance mobility and strength while deepening the connection between the mind, body, and spirit. Integrating traditional vinyasa yoga and meditation practices. Open to all levels. Weather dependent, this class may go to Lions Park.
All Levels Yoga
Designed for all-level participants who wish to improve their general health and wellbeing through stretching and balance exercises. In this class we will use the chair and wall, as well as mat work to help build strength, increase mobility, and improve lifestyle.
Balance
Primary focus on lower body and core strength and endurance to increase balance, stability, and injury prevention.
Cardio Lift Interval (INT/ADV)
An interval type format with lifting and cardio aerobics.
Cycling
Cycling enthusiasts, practice your sport in the comfort of a controlled climate. Instructors will take you through the rigors of any-terrain workout. This is NOT a Sunday stroll. Classes are multilevel, work at your own pace.
Graceful Aging Yoga
Joy and vibrancy through somatic, therapeutic benefits of breathing, movement, and relaxation.
HIIT (INT/ADV)
High Intensity Interval Training. This class will be fastpaced using body weight and dumbbells.
HIIT Cycling (INT/ADV)
30 Min Series: Cycling but designed for intervals and high intensity. Instructor will take you through different sets/reps/ and intensities to keep your heart rate up.
Low Impact Cardio
This is a fun class to get your body moving and heart rate up. Learn easy choreography that you can have fun with.
Low Impact HIIT & Sculpt
Low impact high intensity interval training combined with traditional weight-training.
Mat Pilates
Pilates mat classes focus on stabilizing the core, improving posture, and strengthening the total body! Putting a fun, creative spin on the 34 mat exercises developed by Joseph Pilates, our Pilates mat classes use your body weight to strengthen and tone the body.
Power Training
This high intensity, weightlifting based class will help sculpt your entire body. Adjustable barbell sets, hand weights, balls, gliders, and resistance bands will be used. Increase balance, core, and muscle strength/ endurance.
SilverSneakers® Classic
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a SilverSneakers® ball are offered for resistance. A chair is available if needed for seated or standing support.
SilverSneakers® Yoga
Move through seated and/or standing yoga poses to increase flexibility, balance, and range of motion. A chair is used to meet a variety of fitness levels.
Tabata
Get ready to sweat, burn calories, and push your limits with this fast-paced, high-intensity interval training (HIIT) class! TABATA is a structured workout consisting of 20 seconds of all-out effort followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated for multiple rounds. This method is designed to boost cardiovascular endurance, build strength, and torch fat in a short amount of time.
Total Body
High intensity interval training combined with traditional weight-training moves.
Mind and Movement
This class will combine movement and cognitive engagement with a focus on functional strength, balance, and the brain-body connection. Movements will include seated exercises such as deep breathing, lateral and cross-lateral exercises, as well as standing.
Tai Chi
This class offers a moving meditation with gentle, lowimpact movements, combining T’ai Chi Chih, T’ai Chi Moving for Better Balance, and various Qigongs. These slow, mindful exercises help circulate energy (Chi), reduce stress, and improve overall health. Suitable for all ages and abilities.
Tai Chi Beginner
We will learn a form called Tai Chi for Arthritis Part 1, although it is good for everyone, not just people with arthritis. This class is meant for beginners or anyone who wants to deepen their experience of this form.
Yoga–lates
Merges the practice of yoga with the core stabilizing, posture enhancing dynamics of Pilates. Includes poses to cultivate strength, stamina, stability, and flexibility.
Yoga
Get grounded and connected to your body in this yoga class. We’ll use our breath and movement to calm, center, engage and stretch.

These little cuties are just a few weeks old and still on the bottle, so you’ll get to bond with them while getting your yoga on. Bring your own yoga mat or rent a mat for $5 and have no worries about any surprises on yours. After 45 minutes of yoga, you’ll have 15 minutes to unwind and bottle feed the goats. And as a bonus, you’ll receive a complimentary notebook with Guided Goat Hikes on it, perfect for keeping track of your gym and yoga sessions.

Parking
Parking at the GCC
The Golden Community Center (GCC) has three lots: 8th Street, 10th Street and the dirt overflow lot off the 10th Street cul-de-sac. The lots are regulated as follows:
Monday–Thursday:
No parking restrictions, May–September.
Friday–Sunday:
Permit parking only. You must have a Golden Resident Permit or be a GCC member or user.
GCC daily pass or punch pass holders can register your license plate at the front desk. If you have any questions, please stop by the GCC front desk during your next visit. General information about parking in the City of Golden can be found at www. parkgoldenco.com.
Please note that Community Center parking enforcement will conclude on September 30 .
Registration for most programs opens when this guide is published . Swim lessons, athletic leagues, and preschool are open for registration any time . Refer to program sections for more details .
Registration & Cancellations
General Policies
• Please check dates and plan your schedule carefully.
• A $20 charge is assessed on all returned checks.
• The City of Golden Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel a class due to insufficient registration or causes beyond our control.
• Some classes may have an element of hazard or danger.
• Please take full responsibility for your actions and physical condition when participating in these types of classes.
• Continuing classes paid on a monthly basis will incur a $5 late fee if payment is not received on or before the first day of class.
• The City of Golden Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to increase fees without advance notice.
Refunds, Transfers, and Cancellations
The Recreation Department encourages registrants to carefully plan their schedule before registering for a class. No refunds will be issued if cancellation is received less than four business days before the class is scheduled to start.
If you must cancel from a class, call (303) 384-8100 at least four days before the class starts. Choose from these options:
• Transfer to another class
• Receive a refund via original payment method
A $5 service charge (per child, per class) is assessed on all refunds, excluding:
• Illnesses excused by a doctor stating the specific reason the person is unable to participate, received no later than two weeks after the start date of the class.
• Class cancellations by the Recreation Department. Refunds take three to four weeks to process.
Fees & Charges
Fees do not include materials and supplies unless indicated.
Fees are payable at the time of registration.
Activities canceled due to holidays and circumstances beyond our control will not be made up or refunded unless otherwise specified.
All classes will carry an additional fee for nonresidents.
Concerning continuing classes paid on a monthly basis: fees are due on or before the first day of class to avoid paying late charges.
Photography Policy
Please be advised that participants involved in Parks and Recreation programs are subject to being photographed and the photographs may be used to publicize City programs.
Liability

Aquatics Registration Policy & Details
Swim Lesson Registration Dates
Lesson registration will be announced online at rec.cityofgolden.gov prior to opening. City of Golden residents will have registration priority over nonresidents by 1 day. No registrations will be accepted after 72 hours prior to the lesson start date. There will be no registration allowed on the day that the lessons begin.

After you Register
Registrations will not be processed until paid in full. No spaces will be guaranteed or held with partial payment. Golden Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel or combine a class due to insufficient registration or instructor availability.
Make-up Classes for Group & Private Lessons
Make-up classes will not be offered for classes missed by patrons. Patrons will not be permitted to attend any class for which they are not registered. The Community Center may offer to make up a class if the class is canceled by the Aquatics Department, providing staff and facility space are available.

Wait List Enrollments
Those that are on the wait list will be enrolled by the Aquatics Department when available. You are not enrolled in the class unless you receive communication and confirmation from the Aquatics Office.
City of Golden Pool Rules & Regulations
Swim Diapers
Swim diapers are required for any guests that are diaper-dependent. Regular diapers are not allowed in the pool.
Admission
All guests must pay an admission fee.
Adult Supervision
An adult must accompany children under the age of 6 into the water. The supervising adult must wear appropriate swim wear and remain within arm’s reach of the child. Maximum ratio of three children under 6 years of age per supervising adult.
Children 6 and 7 years old must be accompanied by an adult at the pool side.
Apparel
Only bathing suits, swim trunks or board shorts appropriate for a family atmosphere are allowed in the pool. Street clothes may not be worn in the water.
Lessons & Instruction
Personal instruction is only permitted by City of Golden staff.
Life Jackets
Life jackets are available for those in need. Visit the life jacket area for guidelines on how to properly fit and wear the life jacket. All guests wearing a life jacket must be within an arm’s reach of an adult at all times. Life jackets must be US Coast Guard Approved.
Slide Rules
• Riders must be at least 48” to ride the slide alone.
• Life jackets are not allowed unless accompanied by an adult.
• Riders must ride feet first, in a seated position.
• For safety reasons, guests who are pregnant or individuals with medical concerns should not ride the slide.
• Stopping, twisting and turning in the slide is prohibited.
• No catching riders at the bottom of the slide.
Sauna & Hot Tub Rules
Hot tub and sauna will be available during pool area hours only. See schedule for most up to date hours.
• Guests must be 14 years old or older to use the sauna and hot tub.
• Guests who are pregnant or individuals with medical concerns should consult their physician before using the hot tub or sauna.
• Water may not be poured onto the electric heater.
• Guests may not cover heater or thermostat, nor otherwise attempt to alter the sauna temperature
• No towels or objects are to be placed on or near the heating unit.
• Guests must keep their head above water at all times.
Follow posted rules and regulations at all times . The City of Golden reserves the right to remove patrons who do not abide by facility guidelines or the Patron Code of Conduct .

Commitment to Community Health
All guests will be required to make a commitment to the health of our entire Golden community when registering to visit a Recreation facility or program. These commitments are:
• I will wash my hands frequently.
• I will disinfect equipment before and after use.
• I will stay home if I am sick.
Amenities
Our facility offers an indoor playground, indoor leisure pool with water slide, hot tub, indoor lap pool and dry sauna, indoor running track, cardiovascular area, free weight area, circuit training area, large gymnasium, preschool room, pottery and dry craft rooms, individual meeting rooms, and active adult area.
Important
By nature, many Parks and Recreation programs involve body contact, considerable physical exertion, emotional stress, and/or use of equipment, which represents a certain risk to users. It is recommended that you check with your physician prior to participating in recreational activities. Registrants in all programs do assume responsibility for all risk, implicit or direct, by participation in said activity or program.

City Residents/Non-residents
The City of Golden Recreation Centers and programs are brought to you in part through the collection of property taxes from those living within the Golden city limits. Resident rates are available to those residing within the incorporated (physical city limit) areas of Golden. Unincorporated areas, although serviced through a Golden post office address, do not qualify as Golden residents for the discounted rates.
Scholarships
The City of Golden offers a scholarship program for residents that need financial support to access our services. A confidential application may be submitted and if a hardship exists, the applicant may be granted a reduction in fees. Golden Community Center Patron Code of Conduct
The following rules and regulations are intended to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants in the City of Golden’s Recreation programs.
• Children under the age of 12 must have an adult in the facility at all times.
• Please be courteous to participants and staff at all times.
• Please respect the rights and privileges of others.
• Please observe the rules of safety in each respective area.
• Please handle all equipment in a proper manner and return it to designated area(s).
• Please help keep the facility clean.
