I love a blank canvas and seeing where it will take me in my imagination. Flowers, nature and human emotion trigger my inspirations.

The Art Exhibit at Chesterfield City Hall brings access and education to art within our community and features two-dimensional artwork, including mixed media, paintings and sculptures from established regional artists. Inside this guide, you will find artist bios, and a brief synopsis of the art on display.

City Hall will feature several Art Exhibits throughout the year, showcasing different artists and a variety of art styles. This Art Exhibit will be open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, excluding holidays.

Information about the artists will be available on each piece of artwork, in this guide and at the informational display in the lobby. All details about upcoming Art Exhibits and events are available on the City’s website at https://www.chesterfield.mo.us/artexhibit-at-city-hall.html for more information.

Chesterfield Parks, Recreation & Arts would like to thank all of our exhibitors, residents, businesses and our staff for their support in our Art program. Please enjoy the Art Exhibit at City Hall!

Sincerely,

All my artwork has a similar theme. Life and the emotional part of it. It can include nature, images of humans or what seems to be human. Nothing is realistically drawn except the feeling of the subject or subjects.

I tend to use bold colors, and lines throughout my work. I like open spaces and other times all enclosed. I always like to switch things up but basically my work has the same sort of elements in it.

My mixed media work is a marriage between my love for abstract painting and my passion for photography. By overlaying my original photographs onto my abstract paintings, I create a multidimensional artwork that blurs the boundaries between two-dimensional and three-dimensional art.

Through the use of resin and overpainting techniques, I am able to make the photograph pop off the canvas and bring it to life, transforming it from a flat, two-dimensional image into a dynamic, three-dimensional object. This proves imbues the work with a sense of depth and texture, inviting the viewer to engage with it on a physical as well as emotional level.

In my work, I explore themes of memory, identity, and perception. By juxtaposing abstract forms and patterns with photographs of real-world objects and scenes, I seek to challenge our assumptions about what is real and what is not, and to encourage the viewer to question their own perceptions and interpretations of the world around them.

Ultimately, my goal is to create artworks that are not just visually stunning, but that also provoke thought, stimulate the senses, and inspire the imagination.

Landscape painting aims to reunite us with the natural world, for without the keen observation of nature, our world becomes desultory, our existence perfunctory. Viewing works that reect the beauty of our natural environment can have a healing effect, as the viewer is invited to experience the diversity and beauty of nature and marvel at the complexity of our existence.

By rediscovering the ordinary, we rediscover ourselves: we reafrm our ideals, that which enables us to transcend the ordinary and frees us from the burdens of our rushed, technology-driven lives, lifting our spirits, triggering our imaginations and dreams, and inspiring us to strive for a gentler, more humane world.

Nature is an inexhaustible source of ideas, an unfailing fountain of intellectual enjoyment that awakens the soul to deeper feelings of awe and wonder, allowing us to cultivate and rene our perceptions of the beauty of our existence. By studying the details of the distinctive images that blend into a harmonious whole, we can transcend the mundaneness of everyday life, making us aware of our unity with nature. The experience of encountering this truth is the essence of our humanity.

Although my art is inspired by my experiences and observations, I am not as concerned with creating a specic depiction of a particular scene as much as with the normative aspect of the work: what ought to be our relationship with nature. Many of us are faced today with the unfortunate condition of visual indifference, which is the result of our progressive alienation as human beings, creating a sense of estrangement that obscures our connection to nature.
