News Economic Development The Economic Development Division will be celebrating the National Small Business Week from April 28 to May 4, 2024 and the Economic Development Week from May 6 to May 10, 2024.

Building Building Safety Month is an international campaign celebrated in May to raise awareness about building safety.

As we approach Building Safety Month, we are excited to share our plans to promote awareness and education within our community. Our team has developed a comprehensive approach to engage individuals of all ages, ensuring that the importance of building safety is communicated effectively and memorably.

We believe that by creating an enjoyable learning environment, we can instill a lifelong appreciation for building safety in our children. Our goal is to provide valuable insights that empower our community members to be proactive about safety in their own homes and workplaces. We are confident that these initiatives will not only enhance the knowledge of building safety but also foster a culture of safety-mindedness across our community.

For Younger Audiences Adjacent to the children's library, the Building Department will set up an interactive display designed to captivate and educate our young visitors. This child-friendly exhibit will feature: Engaging coloring books that illustrate safety principles Fun safety badge stickers to reinforce key messages Toy hard hats to inspire a hands-on experience For Adult Community Members Outside the City Commission chambers, the Building Department will place a display board tailored to an adult audience. This exhibit will encompass: Informative materials covering all facets of building safety Visual aids that highlight best practices and safety protocols Resources for further learning and involvement in building safety initiatives

In order to better serve our clients and stakeholders, the Building Department developed three QR Codes that provide information about the department, building certification, and the City’s permit portal on our website.

Customer Satisfaction The Building Department will be collaborating with a local company to integrate technology for gathering customer satisfaction feedback in order to obtain opinions, evaluate information, and make informed decisions. We will provide further details in our next quarterly report.

Building Recertification

Building Recertification The Building Department is proud to announce that our Existing Building Recertification is well on its way with the issuance of our first recertification certificate at the end of March. This milestone marks the beginning of a new era in our City’s commitment to overall building safety. Currently, 130 existing buildings within the City of Boynton Beach have been identified for our program, and have already received written notification to submit their Phase I recertification reports. While we've received a limited number of recertification applications thus far, we understand these changes take time. As recertification inspection professionals become more acquainted with the City's requirements and with upcoming deadlines approaching, we anticipate a substantial increase in submissions in the forthcoming weeks.

Federal Highway Estimated Construction Value: $7,181,220 Multi-family Townhomes (Apartment Rentals) Approval Date: February 12, 2024 The project represents one of the first developments within the City to receive approval under the authorization of Florida State Statute 166.04151, also known as the “Live Local Act." The proposal includes a multi-family townhome development consisting of four (4) three (3)-story buildings with 38 dwelling units, including a minimum allocation of 40% affordable housing units, parking, and associated site improvements on a 1.29-acre site zoned Community Commercial (C-3).

The Dune South – 2703 S. Federal Highway Estimated Construction Value: $29,800,000 Mixed-Use (Apartments and Retail) Approval Date: February 12, 2024 The project represents one of the first developments within the City to receive approval under the authorization of Florida State Statute 166.04151, also known as the “Live Local Act”. The proposal includes an eight (8)-story building with 298 dwelling units including a minimum allocation of 40% affordable housing units, 2,595 square feet of commercial space, an integrated eight (8) floor parking garage containing 401 parking spaces, outdoor ground floor amenities including a swimming pool and pickleball court, interior amenities including a resident lounge and fitness room, and other related site improvements on a 2.99-acre site zoned Community Commercial (C-3).

3800 S. Congress Avenue Two (2) Industrial Warehouse Buildings Total SF: 457,026 Square Feet Approval Date: February 6, 2024 The subject 30.72-acre property is located within the southern portion of the city near the south city limits and consists of one developed parcel. The site was developed in 1970, and currently contains a ±125,281square-foot multi-tenant building.

With the approval of the New Major Site Plan application, the site will be redeveloped with the construction of two (2) multi-tenant industrial warehouse buildings, totaling approximately 457,026 square feet, with a surface parking lot containing a total of 462 parking spaces, and other associated site improvements within the Light Industrial (M-1) zoning district.

Dila Nails and Luxuries - 1790 N. Congress Avenue #300 Estimated Construction Value: $400,000 Remodel of a 3,760 sq. ft. commercial space into a luxury nail salon. Services include nail art, pedicures/manicures, and facial waxing.

Salons by JC - 1721 N. Congress Avenue Estimated Construction Value: $1,171,620 Buildout of a vacant 6,672 sq. ft. commercial space into a luxury salon. Services include haircare, massage, nails, waxing, and more.

Bethesda East Lab Grossing Room Renovation - 2815 S. Seacrest Boulevard Estimated Construction Value: $592,969 Renovations and upgrades to Bethesda’s 1,064 sq. ft. Grossing Room Lab, where pathology specimens from the operating rooms are transferred for pathological review and analysis.

EoS Fitness - 1775 N. Congress Avenue Suite B Estimated Construction Value: $4,628,880 Commercial remodel of a 46,847 sq. ft. existing fitness center into a new, modern gym. Features include weight machines, free weights, kids’ center, cycling studio, cardio cinema, spa, recovery room, and locker rooms.

Trilogy MMA - 1550 N. Federal Highway #4 Estimated Construction Value: $127,328 Remodel of an existing commercial space to accommodate a new 5,951 sq. ft. mixed martial arts (MMA) gym. Offers an MMA room, weight room, kickboxing area, and locker rooms.

Enterprise Truck Rental - 501 Industrial Way Estimated Construction Value: $924,950 Construction and site development of a new 1,764 sq. ft. Enterprise truck rental office. The site will also include a truck washing station.

COMMUNITY STANDARDS

Training On April 2, the Community Standards Department organized an in-person Code of Ethics workshop led by Rhonda Giger, General Counsel of the Palm Beach County Commission on Ethics.

The ethics training is beneficial because it encourages moral conduct, provides workers with pertinent legal and regulatory information, and lets them ask questions.

In general, developing a culture of integrity, compliance, and accountability requires code of ethics training.

N.E. 26TH AVENUE, BETWEEN N.E. 1ST COURT AND N.E. 3RD STREET

Clean-Up Every month on the third Friday, Community Outreach chooses a location that needs to have its litter picked up. During the afternoon, the Community Standards crew works to clear these areas of as much garbage and waste as they can. A cleanup was conducted on February 23, 2024, at N.E. 26th Avenue, between N.E. 1st Court and N.E. 3rd Street. Employees removed fifty pounds of trash.
