Prelude HAIL TO THE LORD’S ANOINTED Montgomery / McCracken Chorus: Hail to the Lord’s anointed, great David’s greater Son! Hail in the time appointed, His reign on earth begun! His reign on earth begun! He comes to break oppression, to set the captive free, To take away transgression, and rule in equity. (Chorus) He comes with comfort speedy to those who suffer wrong, To help the poor and needy, and bid the weak be strong. To give them songs for sighing, their darkness turn to light, Whose souls, condemned and dying, are precious in His sight. (Chorus) He shall come down like showers upon the fruitful earth, Love, joy, and hope, like flowers, spring in His path to birth. (Chorus) The tide of time shall never His covenant remove. His Name shall stand forever, That Name to us is Love. (Chorus) Call to Worship LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens. Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. When I consider your heavens, Two

the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! — Psalm 8 Confession of Sin (In Unison) Loving Father, you promise to use your strength for our good, to build us up and to guard us from shame. But when we feel anxious and overwhelmed, we turn to our own strength, to cynicism, or to despair. We struggle to trust your promises to us, and worry that we labor in vain. Remind us of your goodness, and that it is you alone who makes us fruitful. Words of Comfort and Assurance of Pardon The Lord guards the hurting, and draws near to the undeserving. May he forgive us our sins and restore us, that we might find ourselves happy in him. Amen.

Lord, I Need You Maher

The Solid Rock Mote, Bradbury

Lord, I come, I confess Bowing here I find my rest Without You, I fall apart You’re the One that guides my heart

My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness I dare not trust the sweetest frame But wholly lean on Jesus’ name

Chorus: Lord, I need You Oh, I need You Every hour I need You My one defense, my righteousness Oh God, how I need You

Chorus: On Christ the solid Rock I stand All other ground is sinking sand All other ground is sinking sand

Where sin runs deep, Your grace is more Where grace is found is where You are Where You are, Lord, I am free Holiness is Christ in me (Chorus) Teach my song to rise to You When temptation comes my way When I cannot stand I’ll fall on You Jesus, You’re my hope and stay (Chorus) You’re my one defense, my righteousness Oh God, how I need You My one defense, my righteousness Oh God, how I need You Continue to Love Me Patterson Continue to love me With that same love Righteous and unchanging Continue to love me With that same love Priceless and unfailing Your love it reaches to the sky Your righteousness, a mountain high How priceless, Your unending love Both high and low among men Take cover under Your wings How priceless, Your unending love

When darkness veils His lovely face I rest on His unchanging grace In every high and stormy gale My anchor holds within the veil His oath, His covenant, His blood Support me in the whelming flood When all around my soul gives way He then is all my hope and stay When He shall come with trumpet sound O may I then in Him be found Dressed in His righteousness alone Faultless to stand before the throne A member of the congregation leads us in prayer. Gloria Patri 2nd century, Digerness Glory be to the Father Glory be to the Son Glory be to the Spirit, Three in One As it was in the beginning It will be forever, Amen Amen, Amen Ohana Announcements Children’s Worship Fellowship of the People

Series: Parenting and Grandparenting with Faith, Hope and Love Message: Honor Your Father and Mother “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery…. “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you. —Exodus 20:1,12 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother”— which is the first commandment with a promise— 3 “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” 4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. — Ephesians 5:21, 6:1-2 11 Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. 12 In a loud voice they were saying: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!” 13 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!” 14 The four living creatures said, “Amen,” and the elders fell down and worshiped. — Revelation 5:11-14

Communion “Human history begins in hunger, and hunger—whether for bread or for land or for glory or for God—motivates much of that history. Hunger is a sign of our radical dependence, a reminder that we are not autonomous..But the Bible does not leave us hungry. It promises filling. ‘Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be satisfied’. The Bible does not leave us restless, for there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God.” — Peter Leithart

Communion or the Lord’s Supper, is the family meal of Christians. We invite all followers of Jesus Christ to participate. If you are not a follower of Jesus or are not prepared to share in the meal, we encourage you to spend this time in prayer. We hope this time is helpful to you as you consider your relationship with Jesus Christ and with his people, the church. Guidance for communion: We practice communion by coming forward and receiving the elements. Whenever you are ready you may come forward receive a piece of bread from the loaf and dip into the white chalice which is wine or the green chalice which is grape juice. If for any reason you are not able to come forward our servers will come back to you. Simply raise your hand and they will be glad to serve you. Members of our mercy team available to pray with you or for you during this time. They are towards the front on the right hand side of the sanctuary.

Prayer for Truth Jesus, you claim to be the way, the truth, and the life. Grant that I might be undaunted by the cost of following you as I consider the reasons for doing so. If what you claim is true, please guide me, teach me, and open to me the reality of who you are. Give me an understanding of you that is coherent, convincing, and that leads to the life that you promise. Amen. Prayer of Belief Lord Jesus, I admit that I am weaker and more sinful that I ever before believed, but through you I am more loved and accepted than I ever dared hope. I thank you for paying my debt, bearing my punishment on the cross, and offering forgiveness and new life. Knowing that you have been raised from the dead, I turn from my sin and receive you as Savior and Lord. Amen. Prayer for those Struggling with Sin Lord Jesus, grant that I may see in you the fulfillment of all my needs, and my turn from every false satisfaction to feed on you, the true and living bread. Enable me to lay aside the sin that clings so closely, and run with perseverance the race set before me, looking to you, the pioneer and perfecter of my faith. Amen.

Our Purpose:

Together, Living Out the Gospel in the Heart of the City.

Seven Core Values Gospel The gospel is the good news that in Jesus’ life, death and resurrection, God by grace rescues and draws men and women into fellowship with himself and with one another. Through the gospel all creation is restored so that we will enjoy this fellowship forever. Through the gospel God’s Kingdom has come and is coming. Therefore we are committed to a life together that is permeated with expectant, enduring, joyful hope.

Bible The Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are God’s inspired, authoritative revelation. All of the scriptures present Christ and the gospel to draw us to worship and make Him known. We are committed to being a learning community, diligently studying all of the scriptures and allowing God to transform all of life.

Worshipful In response to the good news of the gospel, we worship God as King and Jesus as Savior and Lord in all of our daily activity. This culminates in coming together on Sunday — gathered, renewed and sent out by the Holy Spirit.

Prayerful We regularly and expectantly engage in coversation with God, both personally and as a group. We are committed to complete dependence on God in prayer for all of our life and mission together.

Missional The Bible is about the mission of God – bringing love, peace and justice to a broken world through the work of Christ. Therefore “missions” is way more than a church department but rather what God and life is all about. We are committed to calling individuals to respond to the gospel in repentance, faith and conversion. We are committed to pointing individuals both locally and globally to Christ by acts of justice and mercy. We use all the gifts and talents given to the church and seek to partner with other like-minded congregations and ministries.

International/Inter-Generational The gospel is best expressed and demonstrated through a diverse community who believe, embrace and practice it together. We are committed to ethnic groups, families and generations worshipping and serving together.

Hospitable Hospitality is a response of love and gratitude for God’s love and welcome to us. As individuals and a church family we are committed to the gracious opening of our hearts, homes and lives to others, especially the needy and strangers.
