4 Restore our fortunes, LORD, like streams in the Negev. 5 Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. 6 Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them. — Psalm 126

Praise to the Lord, the Almighty Neander Praise to the Lord The Almighty, the King of creation O my soul, praise Him For He is thy health and salvation All ye who hear Now to His temple draw near Praise Him in glad adoration

Confession of Sin (In Unison) Ancient of Days, you do great things in every generation, yet we confess that we do not proclaim your wondrous works. Our hearts hope in this world and its fleeting comforts; our mouths sing our own praises. Forgive us, O Lord; renew our hearts and minds that we might tell of your steadfast kindness from everlasting to everlasting.

Praise to the Lord, Who over all things so wondrously reigneth Shelters thee under His wings Yea, so gently sustaineth Hast thou not seen How all your longings have been Granted in what He ordaineth Praise to the Lord Who doth prosper thy work and defend thee Surely His goodness And mercy here daily attend thee Ponder anew what the Almighty can do If with His love He befriend thee

Words of Comfort and Assurance of Pardon May our Lord, who has been a shelter to every generation, forgive you your sins and restore you to righteousness.

I Will Change Your Name Trufant

Praise to the Lord O let all that is in me adore Him All that hath life and breath Come now with praises before Him Let the Amen Sound from His people again Gladly for aye we adore Him

I will change your name You shall no longer be called Wounded, Outcast, Lonely or Afraid I will change your name Your new name shall be Confidence, Joyfulness, Overcoming One

Call to Worship 1 When the LORD restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed. 2 Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.” 3 The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.

Faithfulness, Friend of God One who seeks my face

Series: Tales of the Kingdom Message: Seeds, Trees, Birds and Leaven 31 He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. 32 Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.” 33 He told them still another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds of flour until it worked all through the dough.” 34 Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable. 35 So was fulfilled what was spoken through the prophet: “I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden since the creation of the world.” — Matthew 13:31-34

Communion But there’s grace now, more grace then we’ll ever need. Rivers of it, torrents of it, abundant and overflowing. All we have to do is ask. — Michael O’Brien

Communion or the Lord’s Supper, is the family meal of Christians. We invite all followers of Jesus Christ to participate. If you are not a follower of Jesus or are not prepared to share in the meal, we encourage you to spend this time in prayer. We hope this time is helpful to you as you consider your relationship with Jesus Christ and with his people, the church. Guidance for communion: We practice communion by coming forward and receiving the elements. Whenever you are ready you may come forward receive a piece of bread from the loaf and dip into the white chalice which is wine or the green chalice which is grape juice. If for any reason you are not able to come forward our servers will come back to you. Simply raise your hand and they will be glad to serve you. Members of our mercy team available to pray with you or for you during this time. They are towards the front on the right hand side of the sanctuary.

Prayer for Truth Jesus, you claim to be the way, the truth, and the life. Grant that I might be undaunted by the cost of following you as I consider the reasons for doing so. If what you claim is true, please guide me, teach me, and open to me the reality of who you are. Give me an understanding of you that is coherent, convincing, and that leads to the life that you promise. Amen. Prayer of Belief Lord Jesus, I admit that I am weaker and more sinful that I ever before believed, but through you I am more loved and accepted than I ever dared hope. I thank you for paying my debt, bearing my punishment on the cross, and offering forgiveness and new life. Knowing that you have been raised from the dead, I turn from my sin and receive you as Savior and Lord. Amen. Prayer for those Struggling with Sin Lord Jesus, grant that I may see in you the fulfillment of all my needs, and my turn from every false satisfaction to feed on you, the true and living bread. Enable me to lay aside the sin that clings so closely, and run with perseverance the race set before me, looking to you, the pioneer and perfecter of my faith. Amen.

In Christ alone who took on flesh Fulness of God in helpless babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save Till on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live

Rock of Ages McCracken, Twit Rock of Ages, when the day seems long From this labor and this heartache, I have come The skies will wear out, but you remain the same Rock of Ages, I praise your name Rock of Ages, you have brought me near You have poured out your life-blood, your love, your tears To make this stone heart come alive again Rock of Ages, forgive my sin.

There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave He rose again And as He stands in victory Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ

CHORUS Rock of ages. Rock of ages. Bind your children until the kingdom comes Rock of ages your will be done Rock of Ages, when in want or rest My desperate need for such a Savior I confess Pull these idols out from my heart embrace Rock of Ages, I need your grace

No guilt in life no fear in death This is the power of Christ in me From life’s first cry to final breath Jesus commands my destiny No power of hell no scheme of man Can ever pluck me from His hand Till He returns or calls me home Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand

To give me glory, You took the death and pain Rock of Ages, my Offering (Chorus) Rock of Ages, “It is done!” you cried The curtain’s torn and I see justice satisfied Now write your mercy, on my heart and hands Rock of ages, in faith I stand

Benediction May the Spirit of Christ empower you to see with new eyes, to weep with new tears, to pray with new energy to love God and others well. May you say yes to God’s call to a life of courageous service on behalf of others. May the love of God the Father, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all now and forever.

Postlude Six

Our Purpose:

Together, Living Out the Gospel in the Heart of the City.

Seven Core Values Gospel The gospel is the good news that in Jesus’ life, death and resurrection, God by grace rescues and draws men and women into fellowship with himself and with one another. Through the gospel all creation is restored so that we will enjoy this fellowship forever. Through the gospel God’s Kingdom has come and is coming. Therefore we are committed to a life together that is permeated with expectant, enduring, joyful hope.

Bible The Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are God’s inspired, authoritative revelation. All of the scriptures present Christ and the gospel to draw us to worship and make Him known. We are committed to being a learning community, diligently studying all of the scriptures and allowing God to transform all of life.

Worshipful In response to the good news of the gospel, we worship God as King and Jesus as Savior and Lord in all of our daily activity. This culminates in coming together on Sunday — gathered, renewed and sent out by the Holy Spirit.

Prayerful We regularly and expectantly engage in coversation with God, both personally and as a group. We are committed to complete dependence on God in prayer for all of our life and mission together.

Missional The Bible is about the mission of God – bringing love, peace and justice to a broken world through the work of Christ. Therefore “missions” is way more than a church department but rather what God and life is all about. We are committed to calling individuals to respond to the gospel in repentance, faith and conversion. We are committed to pointing individuals both locally and globally to Christ by acts of justice and mercy. We use all the gifts and talents given to the church and seek to partner with other like-minded congregations and ministries.

International/Inter-Generational The gospel is best expressed and demonstrated through a diverse community who believe, embrace and practice it together. We are committed to ethnic groups, families and generations worshipping and serving together.

Hospitable Hospitality is a response of love and gratitude for God’s love and welcome to us. As individuals and a church family we are committed to the gracious opening of our hearts, homes and lives to others, especially the needy and strangers.
