Prelude This Is My Father’s World Sheppard, Babcock This is my Father’s world And to my listening ears All nature sings and round me rings The music of the spheres This is my Father’s world I rest me in the thought Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas His hand the wonders wrought This is my Father’s world The birds their carols raise The morning light, the lily white Declare their Maker’s praise This is my Father’s world He shines in all that’s fair In the rustling grass, I hear Him pass He speaks to me everywhere This is my Father’s world O let me ne’er forget That though the wrong seems oft’ so strong God is the ruler yet This is my Father’s world The battle is not done Jesus who died shall be satisfied And earth and heaven be one Call to Worship 1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon me, for the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. 2 He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the LORD’s favor has come, and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies. 3 To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the LORD has planted for his own glory. — Isaiah 61:1-4

Confession of Sin (In Unison) Gracious Father, I confess with my whole heart my refusal to believe your promises, my readiness to complain, and my rebellion against your love. Forgive your child, O God, for I sin against you; and remove my transgression from me, as far as the east is from the west.

Words of Comfort and Assurance of Pardon May the Father of all mercy, who is slow to anger, forgive us all our sins and raise us to new life by his steadfast love, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

10,000 Reasons (Bless The Lord) Myrin, Redman Chorus: Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul Worship His holy name Sing like never before, O my soul I’ll worship Your holy name The sun comes up, it’s a new day dawning It’s time to sing Your song again Whatever may pass, and whatever lies before me Let me be singing when the evening comes (Chorus) You’re rich in love, and You’re slow to anger Your name is great, and Your heart is kind For all Your goodness I will keep on singing Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find (Chorus)

Series: Parenting and Grandparenting with Faith, Hope and Love Message: Parent Power 5 1 Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. 2 Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God. 15 So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. 16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. 17 Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. 18 Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, 19 singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. 20 And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 21 And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. 6 1 Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do. 2 “Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise: 3 If you honor your father and mother, “things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth.” 4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord. — Ephesians 5: 1-2, 15-21, 6:1-4

Communion “Somehow, identifying the bread and the wine with Jesus’ body (about to be broken in death) and his blood (about to be spilt on the cross), and inviting his followers to share it and find the gift of forgiveness of sins, of new life, of God’s kingdom—somehow this action had then, and still has today, a power beyond words. A power to touch and heal parts of our broken and messy lives. A power to tell the world around that Jesus is Lord.” — NT Wright

Communion or the Lord’s Supper, is the family meal of Christians. We invite all followers of Jesus Christ to participate. If you are not a follower of Jesus or are not prepared to share in the meal, we encourage you to spend this time in prayer. We hope this time is helpful to you as you consider your relationship with Jesus Christ and with his people, the church. Guidance for communion: We practice communion by coming forward and receiving the elements. Whenever you are ready you may come forward receive a piece of bread from the loaf and dip into the white chalice which is wine or the green chalice which is grape juice. If for any reason you are not able to come forward our servers will come back to you. Simply raise your hand and they will be glad to serve you. Members of our mercy team available to pray with you or for you during this time. They are towards the front on the right hand side of the sanctuary.

Prayer for Truth Jesus, you claim to be the way, the truth, and the life. Grant that I might be undaunted by the cost of following you as I consider the reasons for doing so. If what you claim is true, please guide me, teach me, and open to me the reality of who you are. Give me an understanding of you that is coherent, convincing, and that leads to the life that you promise. Amen. Prayer of Belief Lord Jesus, I admit that I am weaker and more sinful that I ever before believed, but through you I am more loved and accepted than I ever dared hope. I thank you for paying my debt, bearing my punishment on the cross, and offering forgiveness and new life. Knowing that you have been raised from the dead, I turn from my sin and receive you as Savior and Lord. Amen. Prayer for those Struggling with Sin Lord Jesus, grant that I may see in you the fulfillment of all my needs, and my turn from every false satisfaction to feed on you, the true and living bread. Enable me to lay aside the sin that clings so closely, and run with perseverance the race set before me, looking to you, the pioneer and perfecter of my faith. Amen.

Our Purpose:

Together, Living Out the Gospel in the Heart of the City.

Seven Core Values Gospel The gospel is the good news that in Jesus’ life, death and resurrection, God by grace rescues and draws men and women into fellowship with himself and with one another. Through the gospel all creation is restored so that we will enjoy this fellowship forever. Through the gospel God’s Kingdom has come and is coming. Therefore we are committed to a life together that is permeated with expectant, enduring, joyful hope.

Bible The Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are God’s inspired, authoritative revelation. All of the scriptures present Christ and the gospel to draw us to worship and make Him known. We are committed to being a learning community, diligently studying all of the scriptures and allowing God to transform all of life.

Worshipful In response to the good news of the gospel, we worship God as King and Jesus as Savior and Lord in all of our daily activity. This culminates in coming together on Sunday — gathered, renewed and sent out by the Holy Spirit.

Prayerful We regularly and expectantly engage in coversation with God, both personally and as a group. We are committed to complete dependence on God in prayer for all of our life and mission together.

Missional The Bible is about the mission of God – bringing love, peace and justice to a broken world through the work of Christ. Therefore “missions” is way more than a church department but rather what God and life is all about. We are committed to calling individuals to respond to the gospel in repentance, faith and conversion. We are committed to pointing individuals both locally and globally to Christ by acts of justice and mercy. We use all the gifts and talents given to the church and seek to partner with other like-minded congregations and ministries.

International/Inter-Generational The gospel is best expressed and demonstrated through a diverse community who believe, embrace and practice it together. We are committed to ethnic groups, families and generations worshipping and serving together.

Hospitable Hospitality is a response of love and gratitude for God’s love and welcome to us. As individuals and a church family we are committed to the gracious opening of our hearts, homes and lives to others, especially the needy and strangers.
