Přerov is a town in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic. Přerov is a statute town (2006). It has 47,373 inhabitants. Přerov is about 22 kilometres (14 miles) far from historical town Olomouc.
Our school is an institution with a long and rich history. Pedagogical school was founded in 1950. In 2020 we are celebrating the 70th anniversary. Grammar school was founded in 1992. The two schools were united in 2008. There are 880 students, 80 teachers and 20 other employees.

Grammar school is for general education, focusing on teaching of foreign languages (English, German, French, Russian, Latin). There is a four or six- year study programme. Our school opened a new six year study programme – CLIL (25 % of the curriculum in English) The main aim is to prepare students for their future studies at various universities.
ďƒ˜Pedagogical school is a secondary vocational school. ďƒ˜The aim of its founders was to educate future kindergarten teachers.
Nowadays this school offers two types of studies: „ PMP“ and „Pedagogical lyceum“.
PMP
The first one called „PMP“ means „Pedagogy for kindergartens and youth centres (or day centres)“.

PMP is a four-year study programme.

Provides general education but also professional pedagogical educationteacher training.

This study programme is a typical example of programmes taught at Secondary Vocational Schools because it combines theory and practice.

The professional subjects taught here are: Pedagogy, Psychology, Biology of a child and hygiene, Drama, Music, Art, P. E.

Students graduate after passing schoolleaving exam and they usually work as teachers in kindergartens or as schoolmasters in school clubs and youth centres.
Pedagogical lyceum
The other branch „Pedagogical lyceum“ was opened in 2000 to provide advanced education for students intending to study at universities.

Pedagogical lyceum is also a four-year study programme which provides mainly general knowledge (two foreign languages, Czech language, history, science, etc.).

The languages taught here are English and German but students can also study French and Russian as optional subjects.

The aim of this programme is to prepare students for further academic education, especially at teacher training faculties, which means that it is similar to grammar school education.

All students, studying both programmes, have professional practice during the third and fourth grade of their study.

They work with children at various kindergartens.

The school cooperates with Palacky University in Olomouc, especially with the Pedagogical and Philosophical faculty.

Our students can attend school clubs: school choir and orchestra, school magazine, sign language, volleyball and basketball. They take part in various competitions, such as recitation, musical festivals and sport competitions.
