for her 42nd festival With a spectacular fireworks display again heralding the start of the Wexford Festival Opera this week the doors of dozens of venues throughout the town will be thrown open for various exhibitions, craft fairs, drama performances, recitals and musicals, all which complement the main event, the three operas staged at the National Opera House during the course of the festival. Over the long history of the festival many artists and exhibitors have come and gone. Things which were high profile and dominant in the 1960s and 70s are no more and new trends develop every few years. It is a remarkable achievement therefore for someone to be staging their 40 plus exhibition at this year’s festival. But that’s the achievement of Mary Carberry who will be setting up her stall in Clayton White’s Hotel once again for the 2016 event. This year Mary has a variety of oils and watercolours which include Landscapes, Seascapes, Still Life and People. ‘My work is expressive and realistic and it portrays how I see life around me. I have exhibited in Whites, now Clayton Whites of course, for over forty years and it has been a wonderful experience and I am really looking forward to this year’s festival’ Mary is just one of scores of exhibitors around the town but it is unlikely that

News It's Flashback number 15 Looking back at the way things used to be is something many people like to do which is why 'Flashback' the annual exhibition of old photos from the Denis O'Connor collection remains so popular. Now in its fifteenth year the venue for this year event, which will run throughout the festival is 91 South Main Street, opposite Wexford Auto Factors. The exhibition features photos taken by the late Denis O'Connor from the 1960s right through to the 1980s. You may be too young to be featured yourself but your parents, or even your grandparents could be

prominent in one of the pictures. Here we have just two of the pictures from the hundreds that will feature in the event. One is of Sr. Phillip, an iconic figure in Wexford town for more than a generation on the evening she received a benemerenti medal in 1971. Sr. Phillip was known for the tremendous work which she carried out for the poor of

Wexford town. The second was taken a little earlier, in the 1960s and features a group enjoying a Christmas Party in the St. Joesph's Club

Council must make special case for North Wexford rent support Officials at the Housing Department of Wexford Co. Council have been urged to come up with a strong case to convince the Environment and Housing Minister to increase Housing Assistance payments to people renting homes in North Wexford. Cllr John Hegarty reported to a meeting of the Gorey Municipal District Council that he had spoken with the Minister when he visited Gorey and it was clear that if there was to be movement on rent allowances to take account of the situation

in North Wexford where rents are higher than in the rest of the county the pressure would have to come from within the Council. Cllr. Hegarty said that unless the Council made Gorey a priority it would not come by way of an initiative from the Department. Housing Officer Liz Hore agreed that the situation in Gorey was different to other parts of the county. Cllr. Joe Sullivan said the assistance payments were so far off reality that people who

qualified for them were at the back of the queue when it came to renting accommodation in the private sector. Cllr. Mary Farrell attacked landlords saying she was dealing with cases where people were being put out of a house because the landlord wanted to dramatically increase the rent. Cllrs. Fionntain O’Suilleabhan and Robbie Ireton agreed that landlords were inflating rents and urged action on the matter from the government. Cllr. Ireton said people were buying houses to rent because

they could get a greater return on their money than if they left it in the bank. But Cllr. Joe Sullivan said it was a free market and rents changed according to supply and demand and Cllr. Anthony Donohoe said rent certainty was a two way street. Many landlords were in difficultly in recent years when rents dropped dramatically and tenants benefited. Rent certainty would mean that rets could not reduce which could impact on rents at some point in the future.

Flooded river could claim a life A member of Wexford Co. Council has warned that a life could be lost as a result of serious flooding problems which exists around a river in North Wexford, a problem which he says is being ignored by the Co. Council. Cllr Joe Sullivan said the problems at the Ahare River had been highlighted on several occasion but no action had been taken and when Cllr. Fionntain O’Suilleabhan had raised it at a full Council meeting

the previous week during a discussion on flood plans his concerns were dismissed. Cllr. Sullivan said he had visited the river the previous weekend and already water levels were very high. When the river floods it is impossible to see the outline of the road and the Fianna Fail councillor fears that this could cause a tragedy with a car slipping off the roadway into deep flood waters.

“I’m in PAIN”

Plan to create Riverwalk along Gorey backlanes An ambitious plan to create an impressive river walk through the back lanes of Gorey town has been proposed but there are concerns that opening up the lanes for walkers could be resisted by some residents amid fears that the walkways could be used by criminals. However, the District Manager, Amanda Byrne, has made it clear that investment in the lanes will be for a walkway or no work will be carried out on them. The Manager’s proposal, which would be funded through a combination of community and local funds, provides for the upgrading of a series of backlanes to pro-

vide safe off road alternatives for walkers-------young and old. Ms Byrne said the measure would serve as a deterrent to anti=social behaviour as more people would positively engage with the space when it was upgraded and maintained. She told a meeting of the Gorey Municipal District Council that the move would also assist in waterway regeneration. Part of the plan would see low level lights installed and CCTV cameras will be put in place where necessary. The proposed back lanes route covers a distance of 1.2km.

But the plan brought a mixed reaction from councillors with Malcolm Byrne saying the lanes had been used by criminals in the past and they could also be a location for anti-social behaviour. He urged consultations with residents in the area at an early stage to get their views. Cllr. Fionntain O’Suilleabhan described the proposal as a brilliant idea achieving the twin goals of making Gorey a greener town and also providing facilities for walkers in the urban area. But he also expressed concern for the fears which residents might have in relation to the plan. But Cllr. John Hegarty said

there was a danger that too much emphasis might be put on possible negative impacts of the proposal. Even talking about CCTV cameras as part of the project was in danger of creating the wrong image. If nothing was done the lanes would still be there with the potential for problems. What was being proposed would improve the situation and create an amenity. Cllr. Robbie Ireton said if you continually looked at what might happen in the future nothing would happen in the town. He said he had no fear that people would be jumping over walls from the walkway into people’s houses. ‘Let’s get on with it’, he declared.

A little goes a long way with Neville for ‘making so little go so far’ by members of the Gorey Municipal District Council. The bad news is that Shaw’s cash bag is now exhausted. In fact he has slightly overspent so there will be little more done before the end of the year. However, residents in many areas are already walking tall

on new footpaths which have been put in place in recent months. The biggest job has been the Avenue in Gorey town with new footpaths also put in place in Courtown/Riverchapel. Paths are also being prepared for Killenagh and Ballytegan while village renewal works in-

cluding footpaths and road surfacing has been completed in Craanford. Other works to tackle a variety of issues have been carried out at Monamolin, Killenagh, Ferns, Camolin, Coolgreaney and Ballycanew as part of the engineer’s efforts to prepare the area for winter.

Council to issue ‘black card’ to GAA over parking chaos on match days Councillors in Wexford are to demand that Wexford GAA plays its part in controlling parking in the environs of Wexford Park on big match days. In the wake of the Co. Senior hurling final there were many local residents complaining about indiscriminate parking around the ground. At a meeting of the Wexford Borough District Council the following day the issue was

raised by several councillors. Cllr George Lawlor said plans had been put in place in the past to tackle the problem, particularly on big match days. Part of this involved the GAA paying for stewards to patrol residential areas around the ground. This had happened on a couple of occasions but the GAA had not continued to fulfil the agreement, Cllr George Lawlor told the meeting. He called for a meeting be-

tween the Council, GAA and the Gardaí to chart a plan for the future. Cllr Davy Hynes said the problem had been going on for years and every time there was a big game problems arose. Cllr Anthony Kelly agreed and said something would have to be done to provide residents with some relief.

being calculated for eligibility to be included on the local authority housing list and the extra money is having the effect of pushing some people over the threshold and off the list. Concerns over the situation were raised by Cllrs Anthony Kelly, George Lawlor and Davy

Hynes at a meeting of Wexford Borough District Council. Cllr Lawlor said it was ludicrous that a payment designed to take people out of a poverty trap penalised them when it came to qualifying for social housing. Director of Services Tony

Larkin said the payment was part of household income and as per national guidelines it was taken into account by the local authority. Cllr Davy Hynes said the Council should go to the government to have it changed.

The danger of avoiding the ramp There have been reports that cars travelling down Summerhill near the old entrance to St. Peter’s College are swerving to the wrong side of the road to avoid driving over a speed ramp. Cllr George Lawlor raised

the issue following complaints from people who had observed the practice. Lawlor suggested that the extension of the ramp across the full width of the road might deal with the swerving problem. But according to Innes it

might create another difficulty because motorists would then be faced with a speed ramp when travelling up the very steep Summerhill and he had never heard of anyone speeding when driving up the hill.

The engineer pointed out that anyone swerving to miss the ramp would be in a rather difficult position if they caused a collision. But as regards providing an engineering solution for the problem it was simply beyond him.

Mayor and councillors owned part of pub A small portion of a well- known Wexford town pub was built on land owned by the former Wexford Corporation but the matter remained undiscovered for years until it was pointed out by a legal firm a part of a recently agreed sale of the property. Solicitors acting for Dave Dempsey, owner of the Gaelic Bar, Distillery Road, Wexford discovered that part of the property was actually registered to the Mayor, Alderman and Burgesses of the Borough of

Wexford. The solicitors asked the Council to transfer the piece of ground to Mr Dempsey to rectify the situation. Director of Services at Wexford Co. Council Tony Larkin recommended to members of the Wexford Borough District Council that the land be transferred as part of the public house is already constructed on it. The members agreed to transfer the 19.1 sq. meters of to Mr Dempsey for a transfer fee of €100.

A foul sewage smell when the wind is in certain directions is causing serious problems for businesses in a part of the North End of Wexford town. The problem affects Skeffington Street, Monck Street and Charlotte Street, Cllr Ger Carthy told a

meeting of the Borough District Council. He said he had received numerous representations from people in the area and it needed to be tackled. The Council agreed to contact Irish Water to have the issue investigated.

When is sludge fertilizer and when is it just plain waste? In Ireland it was always considered fertilizer until the ‘experts’ in the EU began to examine the matter and came up with a definitive finding on when fertilizer is fertilizer and it is just waste. The EU determination has implications for those who have sludge storage tanks because in the past the sludge was always considered fertilizer and the tanks did not need planning permission. But the EU determination has changed all that and

sludge is now considered waste while it is being stored in tanks and it only becomes fertilizer when it is spread on the land. The Co. Council is now to draw up a policy on the matter which will deal with planning guidelines for these tanks. Cllr Deirdre Wadding raised concerns over the tanks at a meeting of the Borough District Council. She said there needed to be regulation about their location in terms of distance from other properties and other matters.

Blackout creates ‘playground for burglars’ Utility companies who caused the public lighting in a part of Wexford town to switch off for a prolonged period of time had created a ‘playground for burglars’, it has been claimed. Several utilities are currently working in different parts of the town providing water mains, broadband and gas. Public lighting in Spawell Road and Hill Street in Wexford town went blank as a result of the work. Cllr Anthony Kelly said it was a disgrace that the lights had been out for so long. This

was an area with a large number of elderly residents and they were very vulnerable as a result of the darkness, he told the October meeting of the Borough District Council. The issue had been raised by Cllr George Lawlor who suggested the natural gas works had been responsible for the problem. However, Engineer Craig Innes said he would not like to pin the blame on any specific company because several were working in the area but he hoped to have the lights back on without delay.

News Strong objections to plans for speed limit increase at Ferrycarrig Concerns too over proposed changes in Ferns , Camolin and Tagoat Councillors look set to shoot down a plan by Transport Infrastructure Ireland to INCREASE the speed limit along the N11 at what is considered one of the most dangerous junctions in the county. The transport authority has been reviewing speed limits on all national routes in the country and now wants to bring uniformity to the limits applied right across the State. But the criteria which has been used by TIF for their proposal has been questioned by councillors in a number of parts of the county. The road at Ferrycarrig is currently controlled by a 60kph speed limit but the proposal is to increase this to 80kph. The logic is that this is not a built up area. However, members of the Wexford Municipal District Council reacted angrily to the suggestion. Cllr. Ger Carthy pointed out that this was a very dangerous and busy junction and he said increasing the speed limit would make it even more danger-

ous. There was general support for his concern. Carthy was also concerned about moving the speed limit in Tagoat closer to the village. This proposal would move the junction for Our lady’s Island outside the speed limit area and he suggested this would also lead to an increased danger. In Gorey District the main proposals involved moving speed limits in the villages of Ferns and Camolin. In general the suggestion is that the limits should be moved closer to both villages with 60kph areas being increased to 80kph. However, in the case of Camolin it is also suggested that a 30kph speed limit, which would only apply when children were going to and from the local school, be introduced. A number of concerns were raised by members of the Gorey Municipal District Council in respect of both villages. Cllr. John Hegarty said that in

principle he was opposed to any speed limits being increased in villages. Cllr Joe Sullivan questioned why a speed limit would be raised on a route beside some very large housing estates. When he was told it was because the lower limits were only applied by TII where there were a number of individual entrances to houses Cllr Sullivan said this did not add up. He said these estates had eighty or ninety houses and would generate much more traffic onto the N11 than five or six houses with individual entrances. Cllr Anthony Donohoe said moving limits closer to villages had implications for future development because a higher density of housing was permitted within speed limit areas, The proposals will be finalised before the end of the year and will then go for public consultation before Councillors have their final say early next year.

‘While there is only one award annually, more than 350 volunteers generously donate their time and energy to various aspects of the Festival and it is this energy, drive, commitment and enthusiasm that makes Wexford one of the most loved of all opera festivals, recognised as one of the top three in the world.’

News Caim school edges closer to road safety plan Caim National School could become the second school to benefit from modern road safety facilities under a cost share plan with the Enniscorthy Municipal District Council. Earlier this year councillors agreed to provide the expensive flashing speed signs as part of traffic calming in The Ballagh when the local com-

munity p;ledged to come up with half of the cost of doing the work. At the October meeting of the Council Cllr. Kathleen Codd Nolan said she had been approached by Caim National School and they were now prepared to proceed on the same basis. She said there were major road safety concerns in Caim and it should

be a priority. Cllr. Barbara Ann Murphy (right) raised a general concern about the plight of poorer schools if the coshare plan was to become the norm a point also made by Cllr Johnny Mythen. However, the members agreed to progress the Caim proposal to the next level.

Cllr Barbara Ann Murphy told a meeting of the Enniscorthy Municipal District Council that to compete nowadays groups needed a major input from the local authority. This was available to the towns

but it was not readily available in all rural areas and this would hamper the ability of small locations to make progress in the future, she told her colleagues. She was supported by Cllr. Kathleen Codd Nolan who said

Enniscorthy Strawberry Fair celebrates its 50th birthday next year and plans are already underway to make it something special. The 1970s and 80s were the heyday of the event when it was a must attend festival for people from all over the

Schools throughout the county are to be offered a special reduced fee deal to use the facilities of the Sports Hub in Enniscorthy. The Hub, which was developed by the Co. Council, is seen as a key tool in the battle to tackle childhood obesity and also to

help get the entire community walking. Director of Services John Carley and Enniscorthny District Manager, Padraig O’Gorman, both insisted that a priority was to ensure that the control and operation of the facility remained with the local authority.

Council. At the October Meeting District Manager, Padraig O’Gorman pledged to tackle the problems. Cllr Keith Doyle said he could supply the name of at least one person who was abusing a resident’s permit.

and interest group since last month and Padraig O’Gorman told councillors he believed the plans would be exciting and imaginative. He said there was tremendous co-operation between all the agencies involved in the various

projects being delivered in the town. Cllr. Paddy Kavanagh said he was delighted to hear there was such co-operation and he commended the level of engagement which had already taken place with the local community.

MOTORS Gala occasion as James Tomkins Motors celebrate opening of new showroom There was a huge turnout at James Tomkins Motors in Gorey last Friday night for a 21st birthday party with a difference. This was not just an event to mark twenty one years in business for James and Catriona Tomkins but also to mark the opening of the impressive new showroom at the garage. James Tomkins Motors are Suzuki dealers for Wexford

and Wicklow and have built up a large number of loyal customers over the years with the quality and reliability of their

service. Friday night’s event was both an opportunity to show off the wonderful new premises and also to thank all those who have supported them over the years. There was a tremendous atmosphere in the Showroom when South East Radio’s Tony Kehoe kicked off his show live from the premises and the party continued for many hours, indeed long after Mr Kehoe had put away his microphone. There were refreshments aplenty for the guests and live music after the radio show but there was also an opportunity for potential purchasers to view the range of new Suzuki vehicles on display in the Showroom, including the Suzuki S Cross which was unveiled on the night.

James and his team were on hand to guide customers around the full range of new models. James Tomkins Motors also have a large stock of quality used cars.

GER WALSH George and Mildred this is not There was a hit UK comedy series in the 1970s called George and Mildred. The characters in the title were a married couple who had different perspectives on life and what they wanted to achieve. Their differing views led to a lot of conflict which provided most of the fun in the series. Wexford politics does not have a George and Mildred but it increasingly looks like two figures are set to dominant the scene, at least in the Wexford area. However, while George and Mildred of the 1970s provided a lot of good humoured fun as a result of their arguments it does not look like there will be any such fun in the exchanges between George Lawlor and Lisa McDonald in their roles as members of the Wexford Borough District Council. Lisa has just returned to local politics following a break of almost a decade and she has lost no time getting into her stridel contributing immedi-

Cllr. George Lawlor,

ately to debates at Co. Council level and not being afraid to rather fearlessly articulate her positions. But what has really marked her out is the rather explosive nature of her exchanges with George Lawlor at meetings of the Borough District Council. Lisa has attended just two meetings since her return to local politics, in September and October and on both occasions there were pretty sharp, well maybe really sharp, exchanges between the Labour standard bearer and herself. In September it was over George taking to Facebook and posting comments which Lisa branded cowardly. This month it was the rather uncontroversial issue of Garda vetting which was the detonator for the verbal explosion between the two. George was concerned about the length of time it takes to secure Garda vetting and the fact that it has to be undertaken for each role an individual wants to take up.

TV’s George & Mildred

He suggested that linking the vetting to a person’s PPS number could be a way of avoiding repeated checks. There was general support for his proposal. Ger Carthy spoke of the problems the vetting delays were causing for GAA clubs and Tony Dempsey, acting Chair on the day, related the story of a young man who had to get vetting to take up a summer job. By the time he received the all clear he was back in college having missed out on work for the entire summer. Deirdre Wadding and Davy Hynes were supportive as well but their collective balloon was burst when Lisa entered the fray. Cllr. McDonald is a solicitor and relying on her legal background she rubbished George’s efforts. What he was trying to do was unworkable and illegal, she suggested. When Ger Carthy came back in to once again highlight the problems for GAA clubs and the like, Lisa

came back even stronger. In a nutshell George’s proposal had no legal basis, could not work and was effectively nonsense. By now a fuming George looked as if he might spontaneously combust. This experienced politician is not used to having his ideas seriously challenged at this forum. He had his fill of legal talk and said so in no uncertain terms. That sparked a response from Cllr. McDonald which caused Cllr Lawlor to charge back at his Fianna Fail opponent. Given the limited legal privilege which exists at Council level and communications following the meeting I think it best if I leave readers in the dark about what was actually said from this point on in the exchanges. Suffice it to say that if this keeps up they may have to consider making the meetings of the Wexford Borough District Council an all ticket affair in the not too distance future.

Paddy suggests Willie has his eye on a drive thru pub Transport Infrastructure Ireland (they used to be the National Roads Authority) has come forward with a plan to alter speed limits at some points on national routes in the country. Their proposals will go out to public consultation at the end of the year but councillors were given a preview last week at various meetings across the county and some members aired their views. One place they want to make changes is in the village of Oylegate. They want to move limits a bit, increase some etc. Not surprisingly local councillor Willie Kavanagh, who runs a pub in the village, had comments to make about the proposed changes and exactly where the new limits would apply. He was concerned about any increase in the speed limit through part of the village. His colleague, Paddy Kavanagh, suggested that if the Oylegate man had his way all traffic would be slowed to 10kph through the village so he could sell pints to motorists as they passed in a type of drive thru pub

operation That wasn’t something Willie had considered but it seemed to set him thinking. There are some who feel that when the Enniscorthy by-pass is complete there will be no need for a speed limit in Oylegate at all because it will simply be chocked up with traffic. This could provide a whole new business opportunity for Willie.

There’s none as nasty as your own. It’s an old saying but one that the Chairman of Gorey Municipal District Council will probably agree with following the banter which surrounded the decision to construct a new footpath in the village of Killenagh. Putting a new footpath in a village is nothing unusual. The fact that Killenagh is the local village of the Chairman, Pip Breen, is not unusual either. Indeed the Chairman would be expected to deliver such projects to his local community. What was a bit unfortunate was the description of the proposed work in official Council documents. You see the Council documents ex-

plain that the footpath is to be constructed specifically to link one pub in the village to the other and it is also proposed to provide public lighting for this new footpath. Some of councillor Breen’s colleagues seem to think that the Chairman himself will be using this footpath with Malcolm Byrne wondering if the Chairman would be having an official opening for the path while Robbie Ireton asked if they would also be installing flashing lights, like the ones outside a school, to make it extra safe. Joe Sullivan wondered if a handrail would be provided while Anthony Donohoe congratulated the Chairman on getting the footpath,

There was a sense that some of the members were a little jealous of Pip’s achievement with Joe Sullivan even wondering out loud if he should set aside some money from his discretionary spend to build a path from his home to the Bridge Bar. All I can say is ‘Oh you jealous lot’. I applaud Pip on his initiative and I note that he has managed to get the local community to come up with some of the cash to cover the cost of the path. And as I say congratulations Pip (I say this with an eye on the official opening. I want to be there. It will truly be an historic occasion. We could unveil a commemorative stone (although Anthony Donohoe thinks there are far too many

of them around, but I’m sure he would make an exception on this occasion). It could be called ‘Pip’s Path’ with plenty of nice photos of the event for the papers and social media just to rub salt into the wounds of those councillors who still have to make their way to the pub with no path and very little light. Maybe on reflection when they were planning the description for the footpath it might have been better just to they were building a new footpath in the village of Killenagh and leave out the bit about it linking the two pubs. Or perhaps this is new politics. It’s just that maybe sometimes things can be made too transparent.

Evans case should not deter victims of crime

THE ACQUITTAL of Welsh footballer Ched Evans on a rape charge last week drew a lot of comment particularly for those prominent in groups supporting victims of sexual assault. Previously Evans had been convicted of raping a teenage girl in a Welsh hotel in 2011. He was 22 at the time. When he was convicted in 2012 I remember thinking that the evidence against him was pretty flimsy. However, you never have the full story unless you sit through the entire trial. The other thing which struck

me was the loyalty being shown to Evans by his girlfriend Natasha Massey who vowed to stand by him and clear his name. She was true to her word and with the support of a very wealthy Dad went about securing evidence aimed at securing the quashing of the original conviction. She succeeded and a new trial was set which ended in the footballer being cleared. Some of the new evidence involved calling previous partners of the victim to give and account of their relationship

with her something which has infuriated many people. The whole episode is a pretty sordid one and really centred on whether or not the victim was simply too drunk to give consent on the night. Another footballer had also been accused of raping her on the same occasion but he was cleared at the initial trial. Whether people like it or not, and a lot of people do not like it, Evans has now been cleared of the offence and no longer has a criminal record. Leaving aside entirely the victim for the moment, he also treated his girlfriend (now fiancĂŠe) pretty appalling at the time and, not surprisingly, when he told her of his exploits that night they initially parted but got back together pretty quickly. She obviously is a forgiving woman because she waited for him while he was in prison and just over a year after his release gave birth to his baby. It is reported that the couple will wed before Christmas.

I mention all this just to put the case in some sort of context. That Evans was a cheating slime bag who treated two women with appalling contempt is beyond question. However, I think the people who highlight the case and suggest that it will put women off reporting sexual assaults are misguided. They are not of course misguided in their concerns that the clock is somehow being turned back in terms of how alleged rape victims are treated. That simply must not be allowed to happen. However, in highlighting this case and somehow putting in the same zone as most rape cases, they probably do a disservice to the very people the people they are trying to represent and protect. It would be shocking if as a result of this case any rape victim felt that it would be better to suffer in silence than report the crime. While reporting a crime and going through interviews with GardaĂ will always be an ordeal as will giving evidence to a court, victims are treated with sensitivity and are provided with a range of sup-

ports. The Ched Evans case was extraordinary on a lot of levels and not typical of what happens in the vast majority of such cases.

But one thing is without question. While no crime may have been committed the events in that Premier Inn on a night in 2011 have had a shattering effect on all involved.

What a fundraiser! The US election is making headlines for all the wrong and rather bizarre reasons but one little item reported last week must have left Irish politicians green with envy. You may remember during the general election earlier this year some local candidates had fundraisers. Malcolm Byrne had a breakfast and also ran a â‚Ź100 per head dinner while James

Browne ran a very successful breakfast in Enniscorthy. I don’t know how much they made but I can tell you for certain it was like picking a single euro off the floor when it is compared with the success of Hilary Clinton’s fundraising events last week. She took a few days off to attend private fundraising lunches. At one she raised 10

million dollars. No doubt she will use most of the money to take out negative TV adverts which will aim to portray Donald Trump as a dangerous gobshite, which is really a bit of a waste because the Republican candidate does a good job portraying himself in exactly the same light every time he appears in public himself.
